The only toilet for customers to use in the restaurant was smeared with feces all down the side and some was dripped down the side also.

*TRIGGER WARNING* *GRAPHIC PHOTOS OF * Never coming here again! Hamachi has been my and my husband's go to sushi place since they opened as we followed the chef from Joe's in PD. While the service has always been a little lackluster, we've had every roll on the menu, almost every appetizer, and enjoyed the chavelas that are always ice cold! But yesterday the end of my meal was topped off with a very disgusting surprise. I went to the restroom while my husband took care of the check and only after using the toilet while washing my hands did I notice that there was feces smeared and dripped all down the side of the toilet. I tried to get the attention of our server to discretely say something but she didn't see me I guess; so unfortunately I had to go up to the sushi bar and say out loud what I saw and show the photo. The server kinda laughed it off and yelled into the kitchen. Nobody came, then a man who was sitting at the sushi bar eating and drinking (who knows if he even works there) stood up and said he'd take care of it with no apologies or anything. I felt completely disgusted and my meal was ruined. We just spent nearly $100 on food just so I can see the unsanitary bathroom and just have my concerns laughed off. I always tip at least 20% in cash, but unfortunately I did leave no tip, and that's my very first time in my life doing that. I can't complain about the food tasting good, but it makes you think... if the bathroom is like that are they letting the kitchen go that way too? Believe me I don't write bad reviews and want to be labeled a "Karen", but I was craving sushi so bad, but really felt like vomiting after seeing what I saw. Whoever used and left the toilet in that condition should've attempted to clean it obviously 100%, but it was clearly old and dried on so it had been there for a while and the staff should be checking the restroom at least 1X per hour.

Not a traditional sushi bar. While they are somewhat of a sushi fusion bar, the food was uniquely delightful. I love the balance of Serrano chilis with sushi. It was a good treat to have Modelo Negro with sushi. Staff was friendly, plenty of parking, clean facilities

This is some of the tasty yellow poppers.

Amazing visit at Hamachi! They always welcome someone when they enter, attend you, offer if you need anything and what I love the most is the environment being neat. Recommend you taking a visit and to enjoy some sushi with friends!

Yellow poppers

Yellow poppers were very delicious and had a great flavor I really recommend this place 10/10!

What's this river of sauce doing on my plate or random pieces of fish that's not fresh

My husband and I were extremely disappointed with our recent visit. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that we've eaten here before and it was genuinely fabulous, so something has clearly changed, and unfortunately not for the better. The sushi this time around was borderline inedible. The fish tasted old and poorly handled, with many of the rolls seeming like a strange mash of imitation crab mixed with tired tuna and salmon. Everything was coated in an odd, heavy seasoning that tasted more like a carne asada-style sauce than anything you'd expect with sushi. The rice was just as problematic. The texture was completely wrong, unevenly cooked and inconsistently seasoned. Some bites were mushy while others were dry, throwing off the structure and balance of the rolls entirely. What's also puzzling is that the restaurant was fairly busy, which was surprising given the quality of the food we were served. When I reached the point where I couldn't eat any more of the rolls we had ordered, I asked for a simple spicy tuna roll, hoping it might be safer. Even that was concerning. I'm honestly not convinced it was tuna. The texture and consistency were off, and the flavor was strange, as if extra seasoning was added to mask fish that wasn't fresh. To top it off, we were served crackers that were clearly stale and overly salty. Overall, this felt like a place that has slipped significantly in quality. It was disappointing, confusing, and not an experience we would repeat unless serious changes are made. Update. I wrote this last night and I have spent most of my morning in the restroom

Small restaurant in Cathedral city with some good sushi. Great service and they even have very hot sake. Sushi boat was good couldn't finish it myself. Had to take some home but definitely would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a place to get lunch at a great price it came with me some soup and a salad and it was fresh.

Always great food , amazing service , not your traditional sushi place !!! Will have your taste buds happy!

Tried, true, and trusted local sushi spot for creative, sometimes Latin cuisine inspired rolls. Everyone I've ever taken here has loved it. Friendly staff, good portions, wide menu to choose from. Surprisingly fresh for it being unassuming from the outside. Definitely a must visit if you're in town! Try the dragon supreme, sushine, chino, or hamachi tower!

China Roll!

Food was AMAZING. I was honestly surprised by the amount of calamari we got in our serving, usually it's normal to only get about 4-6 pieces of tempura at any other place. The rolls were pretty big and saucy. 1st pic is the California tempura and the 2nd pic is the China roll. Can never go wrong with a classic california roll but the china roll was so delicious. Has a fruity tang flavor to it. Definitely recommend!

A very cute Mexican take on sushi. If you are a sushi purist, you may not like this place. Many inventive rolls are reminiscent of ceviche. But right on the wall when you walk in, there is a recipe for spicy tuna. Cool; so this place is Japanese. On the left there is a television showing telenovelas. Cool; this place is Mexican. Whatever it is; I like it! Quirky cool. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Chewy and dry. What a bummer.

Ordered for takeout. $68 on straight up garbage. Super chewy beef teriyaki. Dry yakisoba. Crunchy roll looks like something from a fair (deep fried?). Decent portions I guess. It's not hard to make Japanese food. Not sure how they'd mess it up this bad. It's almost inedible. The yakisoba noodles taste like the pan and oil it was cooked in, rather than any seasoning. Everything is so hard to chew. The veggie tempura is okay. Save your money and go anywhere else. What a bummer.

Best Roll in the World. Despelucado(messy hair) I'll be back.

Gentleman at the door greeted us politely and with a smile. We enjoyed our food just as much as the service. The spot is also very cute. It's spacious, yet cozy. Good! Great! We loved it!…read more My family attends the Paribas tournament every year and we've exhausted almost all of our restaurant options in the Palm Springs area. I feel like everything is overpriced and starts to taste the same. Luckily for us, we found ourselves here. Who knew that sushi in the desert would hit the spot? First off, Otori takes resys. Secondly they have a pretty extensive menu - a lil something for everyone. Of the starters, I did really like the seaweed salad ($10.95). The version here is topped with imitation crab, radish, and daikon. It was a nice juxtaposition of textures and flavors. My mom loved the Avocado Bomb ($15.95) which is just deep fried avocado stuffed with imitation crab, spicy tuna, and cream cheese. It was just a delicious mashup of things we generally like. They have a wide selection of rolls you can choose from: fresh, baked + tempura. Honestly, everything we ordered tasted great. There are so many combinations to choose from, you're bound to find something you'd like. I found the nigiri to be pretty tasty as well. It wasn't overtly fresh, but good enough given the desert situation. Service was top notch. Highly recommend eating at Otori if you're tired of braised short ribs, salmon, and all the steak in the great Coachella Valley.

Plenty of good menu choices so we ordered up what we would consider the usual items for two couples: 4 rolls, a bento box, some appetizers and a few additional items like sashimi to share. Wow. None of us had ever seen such generous portioning before. The rolls were closer to $20/each but they were massive -- as big as my wife's forearm. The bento box was easily 3 times bigger than any other one I had seen before for the same money. The sashimi order was enormous, as I was expecting three or four pieces of fish par usual, but instead was easily like 10-12 large meaty and fresh pieces. We just stuffed ourselves and each couple took home enough food for another meal. The quality was extremely good and again the fish portions were so generous it was just a pleasure to eat -- the owners came around with some additional massive rolls they said were just complimentary as a thank you. So impressive. Unquestionably we will be back again, I can't recommend this place enough. Four hungry people, huge amount of food, plus sake and beers all around all night $230. Wow. 10/10.

That said, I really appreciate the generosity--portions were solid and the freebies were a nice touch. I just wish the protein-to-rice ratio was a bit higher so the fillings and main ingredients came through more clearly. We usually go to Sandfish or Otori, but Otori was closed on Sunday and Monday, so we were looking for something more casual and gave this place a try. Overall, it feels like comfort-style sushi--very easygoing and unfussy. For people who aren't too particular about texture or precision, it'll probably work well. It leans more toward a soft, blended "county fair / festival food" style. If you enjoy trying more experimental or soft-fusion-style sushi, it's worth checking out if you're hungry and in the area.

To start off with the good, the rolls were great, I highly recommend the venue roll and the yellow tail crudo. The drinks were great nothing out of the ordinary or anything I would come back for or wish to have again. The matcha lychee drink was pretty unique though! Now for room for improvement... I feel like the food and drinks alone are wonderful but the service was very disappointing to say the least. We had a reservation for 4 people inside, and when we checked in multiple walk ins of 2 and 4 people were let in before us to be seated inside, even though we showed up at the same time and had a reservation for the exact time we got there * reservation was at 7 we checked in at 6:57*. We got seated right by the restroom and instantly there was an odor that came from the restroom that impacted our experience. Not only that, but half of our party had to continuously get up and move in order for guests to use the restroom. This isn't any negativity on the guests themselves, we understand that they obviously needed to use the restroom. When we asked at the beginning when we were sat if we could move tables, when there was room inside to be seated for 4 people our server told us that there wasn't anything that they could do... I understand maybe other reservations but it really is unfortunate on how multiple walk-ins were seated before our party with a reservation, our party had to be continuously disrupted in order to accommodate for guests using the restroom, and the odor coming from the restroom didn't allow us to actually enjoy the food and drinks.
