We stopped in at the Hamilton because my preteen LOVES hotchee dogs for some reason. He doesn't particularly like onions but he loves his hotchee dogs with them! He scarfed down two of them and a good bit of an order of french fries. You can also get hotchee-burgers which I have yet to try. While I enjoy the toppings on the hotchees, that's a bit too much food for me on a day where we have an all evening outing at a far off baseball field. I will say, I love the fries here. Not only are they golden brown, hot, bite-sized,... they don't put too much salt on them!!! They taste amazing! I was trying to eat a little healthier so I ordered a house salad (i think - it's the one with kalamatas and feta) and it was great! The house greek dressing is wonderful, not too much not too little. Lettuce and tomatoes super fresh. I like the layout too--it feels accessible for all as I watched a wheelchair be pushed through. The middle of the afternoon is surprisingly peaceful and pleasant between lunch and dinner rushes. The big windows display the weather outside. It started raining not long after we got there and ceased before we left. Staff is helpful, kind, courteous and friendly, especially to each other. There are many desserts on display... But we were full! Multiple fruit pies and rice pudding. For those who don't know, the Hamilton began sponsoring our NYE events a few years ago. I'm extremely grateful for what they've invested into the community, though they were already a huge staple of our town. I don't venture out to this part of town and eat here enough, but as long as my son has a say, we're always going to come back here! read more

For a unique experience, walk inside Hamilton Restaurant. It's a Carlisle landmark known for their chili hot dog with cheese. Walk inside and staff will immediately greet you and walk you to a seat inside what feels like an old school diner. To eat, I ordered their chili hot dog with cheese. It comes with two on buns and a side. The cole slaw was a gentle compliment to such a heavy meal. To drink, I ordered their cherry Coke. They make it themselves with Coca Cola and cherry syrup. One thing worth noting is that it's cash only. There's an ATM inside, but it didn't work for me. The staff were trusting enough to let me go to another one and come back to settle my bill. read more

Visibly clean, staff very nice, but let's be honest, the people who hype this place up do so purely for nostalgic reasons. I got the "famous" "hotchee dogs" (chili cheese dogs) and to be completely honest, they were super mid. The hot dog is very thin and you can't even taste it over the fistful of onions on it, and the chili gets a 3 out of 5. Everyone who's been here recommended these dogs, but I 100% have had better. Hard to go wrong at the Hamilton. We visited a couple weeks ago and I nearly got breakfast. Today we decided to try their breakfast and weren't disappointed: from the friendly service to the delicious food, it was very enjoyable. I had no intention of going to breakfast this morning, but I had made an appointment to drop off hazardous material at the recycle center, and as usual, I was really early. So I stopped in at Hamilton Restaurant. I was very pleasantly greeted by the staff with a glass of cold water in front of me before I even sat down. I decided to sit at the bar since it was just me, and I ordered my favorite breakfast. The omelette came quickly and it was hot and very good with generous portions. The staff were friendly and spoke Greek (which makes me know that the food is going to be good before I even tasted it!) I thought that it was going to be insanely busy, but it was not as busy as I thought and there was ample space at the bar for me to sit and enjoy my food. I'll be back! read more

This was such a cool and unexpected experience. We stopped while roadtripping and were just looking for hot dogs (we have a new goal to try as many hotdog places as possible). We saw it on the map and along with some fun history, we decided it was worth the stop. It looks like a diner, but when walking in it's obvious everyone comes for the dogs. We made reservations for Friday night. It was 6 of us . The table we were sat at was barely enough for 4. Service was quick to take our orders. The kitchen was very slow. The place was very busy. So it was understandable. Their menu has a nice selection. They do offer soups that are not on the menu. Our came out all messed up. The server knew it . And busted her butt to fix it .prices overall were high for the over value. Flavor of are meals was mixed. I would not rush back. Not enough bang for the money. Other than the Hot-chee dog...there really is nothing special about the Hamilton. It is average diner style food. As for service...our server was average, but some of the rest of the staff were downright stand-offish and borderline rude. Beware...they do not accept cards and they aren't very nice about it either. The only option is an ATM which pilfers you for an exorbitant fee. The restaurant itself is small and tight...nothing special about it that makes it memorable at all. So...overall, with so many other interesting options in Carlisle, this would not be high on my list of go-to places. read more

Lived in Carlisle area 1986-1989, went to Hamilton House restaurant 5 days a week, while working at the Post office next door. Always for breakfast! I remember they had the best French toast, sausage patties, fries with gravy, fountain cokes, pancakes and eggs. and don't forget those home fries mixed with onions.
