Very nice steakhouse in all regards but I took my wife to eat there (visiting from out of town), and for the $150+ exit price, you should at least get a chocolate mint (or regular mint) when the waitress returns with your check. I asked at the door on the way out if they had a "mint" and the hostess said "no sorry" and looked at me like I was from the planet Pluto...lol Everything including the service was good but for the $$ spent should have been excellent! Loved the wood/leather and dimmed lighting atmosphere and could have spent $$$ sitting at the bar sampling the many interesting drinks and beer choices. By the way, the Bloody Mary was good but different than I'd ever had. Served with "crushed ice" and a large shrimp as garnish (along with celery, green olives, and lemon). Tasted good and I love "all things ocean", but it reminded me more of what's left over after a shrimp cocktail than a spicy Bloody Mary. This was a spur of the moment dinner. I wish my spurs were always this good. Sat down and had ice water before I opened my menu. Service is impeccable. Potato skins for an appetizer. I mean they are potato skins, but dang they were good. We both ordered the Wedge salad. Homemade blue cheese dressing! Great salad. I ate here yesterday, I had a fantastic server, but my food was brought out incorrectly. I had ordered the Meatball Marinara and they gave me the Shrimp Scampi which is far off. When they brought me the meatball marinara it was cold, so I asked to speak to the manager but I wasn't aware that I was talking to the owner of the restaurant. She was absolutely rude, her tone was disgusting and I was appalled of this because I heard such good things about this place. I chose Hamilton's strictly based on their Yelp reviews. And what a good choice it was! The three in our party chose very different types of foods off the menu. One had the Mahi Mahi special. Another the sirloin and I had the chicken with sun-dried tomatoes. Each of our first bites resulted in a nod and mumble of affirmation that we'd made the right choice. All we're cooked perfectly and were made of quality ingredients. The mashed sweet potatoes and smoked Gouda Mac and cheese were just as tasty and service was just as good as their food. On our pilgrimage to the NC Zoo, my wife and I decided to check out the downtown Asheboro establishments. As Magnolia 23 was not open I suggested Hamilton's based on reviews. This place is the real deal. The food was excellent, so why am I only giving this place 4 stars? Simple, if anyone ever reads my reviews will notice a lack of 5 stars, simply because for me to rate 5 stars, the meal has to excel in quality and quantity, as well as service and atmosphere. I had the ribeye with a crab cake, house salad, and green beans, while the missus had the veggie plate with Gouda Mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, house salad, baked potato soup, with carrot cake for dessert. My steak was cooked perfectly as were the crab cake which was served with a lemon butter sauce that had just the right amount of tang. The homemade ranch dressing was also great. The Gouda Mac and cheese was excellent as we're the green beans, mashed sweet potatoes, so you may ask why not five stars ? Here are where they fell down. The salad according to my wife was the same mixed green salad we have been eating from Costco with the addition of a few bits of cucumbers, croutons, and cheese. This is not a bad thing and both of us agree that is not a strike against them. The disappointing part of the meal was the baked potato soup. It lacked seasoning except for a little bit of bacon and cheese, my wife was not pleased, so I finished it and agree it took way too much salt and pepper to impart any flavor. By itself, as served, it tastes like a bowl of pureed potatoes with a distinct lack of stock. They​ have also opened a bar upstairs, and as this is in an old building, all during dinner I heard the creaking sounds of the floor joists over the music played over the sound system. The service was good, and the price was slightly high in relation to the portions. As I work in town a few times a year, I may visit for lunch the next time I'm in town. Hamilton's is the best restaurant in Asheboro, hands down. The steaks are cooked to perfection, the macaroni and cheese (smoked Gouda) is amazing. The mashed potatoes are heavenly. The bananas foster is to die for. The tomahawk rib-eye is the best steak I have ever had and I am comparing it to steaks at Morton's in Chicago and Ruth Chris. But the best part of the Hamilton's is the service. The owners stopped by the table to see how our meal was and to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The waiter was very good and attentive to our needs without being around too much. The atmosphere is great and everything was PERFECT! One of the best burgers I've had anywhere. My wife and I decided to give Hamilton's a try and u was not disappointed. We went on a Saturday afternoon about 2:00. We had missed most of the lunch crowd and were looking forward to a quiet, intimate lunch. The atmosphere in Hamilton's was exactly what we were hoping for. We had a wedge salad, my wife got the grilled cheese and I got the burger. Very simple burger. Lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, cheese and Dijon mayo in an onion bun. Perfect in its simplicity! They grind their own beef in house and it makes all the difference in the quality of the burger. AWESOME burger. I was a little worried about the very limited lunch menu, but after having the burger I know what I would be going back for at lunch. Will definitely be back! All around excellent experience. We decided to give Hamiltons one more try since they have moved to a new location to see if they have improved especially after reading some good reviews... they are definitely not about customer service..... we started out to have a nice meal and ordered appetizers... first we started with Hamilton's artichokes and also the potato skins... The artichokes were not to my liking very greasy ... The potato skins were good .... next onto the entrees ... I ordered the mahi-mahi and added on a crabcake with a house salad ... when they brought it out the smell was overwhelming .... I have had delicious mahi-mahi this was not it ... it was very fishy and the lemon dill sauce was not good.... I sent it back and then ordered the chicken and sun-dried tomatoes... when it was brought out .. I felt as if they had just switched the sauce off of the mahi-mahi and put it on top of the chicken... it was absolutely awful.... by this time I was done.... no need to send it back at this point I knew nothing good was going to come out of the kitchen.... we also ordered a ribeye with a potato... The ribeye was OK very fatty nothing to brag about Have had much better steaks.... we then order desserts Keylime pie and chocolate torte..... The Keylime pie was good ... A very small pays for $8 ... The chocolate tort was not good at all..... The best thing out of this meal was a house salad and tea... for over $100 that is ridiculous..... The owner came over and asked me how we like the food I told her exactly what happen with my dish she asked me why did I not like the mahi-mahi I told her and also told her that I did not like the chicken and artichokes .... she was not friendly at all did not apologize and did not offered to make things right or take it off the bill .... we paid for the food and left..... The people that eat here must be drinking so much alcohol that they do not even realize what their food taste like... or they have not had very good food.... I eat all over and I have not had to send a dish back in years.... nor have I ever been treated like because I did not like to dish no apology was given and no good customer service.... we will not be back it's a shame this is the only steakhouse in town read more

Recently opened in the old "Saloon" building, this upscale steakhouse is a welcome addition to the limited choices of dining in Asheboro The decor is well done, rustic and inviting with perfect lighting and ambiance for the type of atmosphere I think they intended. We arrived at 8pm on a Saturday evening and were seated within 3-4 minutes. Service was slow and we got the feeling they were still working out the kinks but we were in no hurry and were enjoying looking around a new place. Comfortable booths on each wall with a set of tables down the middle which could be arranged by party size. Our waitress came by and informed us she would be right with us, but it was a few minutes more before she arrived to take our drink order. Which gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and drink selections several times. After taking our drink order it was again an inordinate long wait until they arrived. To the point my wife and I were having a laugh about it. But as stated, we were in no hurry. When the waitress brought the drinks and took our order, everything flowed smoothly from there on out. Growing pains of new establishment, new computer system, new employees... Not unexpected and bothered us not at all. We ordered house salads, steaks and baked potatoes. Salad was fresh and the perfect size if a smidgen heavy on the cheese for my taste. An in-house made small bread roll on a cutting board with butter came right after which my wife fawned over the entire meal. Now to the steaks. She requested a ribeye ($29), cooked med-well, and I ordered a filet med-rare ($28-$32). Both were perfectly and I mean perfectly cooked the way we ordered them. As good and tender a cut of beef as I've had in Asheboro, if perhaps not seasoned as well as one might expect. After the meal and obligatory check to see if we wanted dessert, (probably delicious but we were full) the check arrived. If you pay by card, it seems the servers process it right at your table with the handheld computer they use to order. I never use a card and am not sure I'm quite a fan of counting my change at the table, or paying at the tableside as the server waits for that matter, due to possible awkwardness with tipping etc if you use a card. Not sure how that works though so perhaps a CC user can chime in on that. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience which I've no doubt will become even better when the rough edges of a new business get worked out. I would increase the alcohol choices though, but we shall see how that goes in the future. Perhaps the next visit will be a five star telp experience. I wish them well, as Asheboro is in need of a nice steakhouse. We will most assuredly be returning. read more

The most racist and cowardly experience that I have ever had. When we arrived, we were told that there would be a 20minute wait because some others had reservations....no problem, we will wait. The hostess was extremely informative and friendly. The the hostess began to reserve a table upstairs for our party of six....in walks a group of four who also did not have a reservation. The hostess informed them that there would be a 45min wait. The group then proceeds upstairs to the "bar"...eventually sitting at the table that the hostess was preparing for our group. At this point we have been patiently waiting for about 30mins. The hostess informs the manager that the group day at the table when they should be waiting as instructed....the manager (older white lady)....looks at our party (African American)...then tells the hostess " oh, they can wait" and she walks away and leaves the hostess to tell us the news. Now, I have been here before and did not have this problem. If we would've walked back in with our uniform on we would've been seated quickly with no problems. read more

My two friends and I were passing through on a road trip. The reviews looked good, so we gave it a try. Wow, are we glad we stopped here!! None of us had steak (odd, since it's a steakhouse), but what we had was absolutely amazing! The homemade bread was phenomenal; what we all ordered was incredible (crab cakes, grilled salmon, and chicken with sun cried tomatoes), the desserts were homemade and delightful. We had lunch here today for the first time and it was absolutely fantastic!!! The $8 lunch special is a choice between soup/salad, half a sandwich and a tiny side of fries (like 6-7 fries). The food overall was the best in town, but you get an extremely small portion. The chocolate dessert was fabulous as well!! We are here on Saturday the 26th. I have to say it was quite impressive. There are a number of places to eat in asheboro- none of which are really spectacular but this place was soooo good. The steak was cooked perfectly at medium rare and the mac and cheese was so creamy. The only negative I would give it if any is the César salad was just okay. Thai place has good days and bad days. Sometimes the steaks are fantastic.. other times, they're the worst I've ever had.. The bar area is cool... except, who consistently closes a whole bar area for private parties?? I have found myself on several occasions walking out with a group of 6, 8, 10 people and going elsewhere because you can't sit in the bar area..?? On the upside, the wait staff is generally pleasant and attentive. I would love for Hamilton's to be a great mainstay in Asheboro...but for now, I need to spend money where it's more consistent and I'll check back with Hamilton's in another 6 months or so. read more

I needed a good restaurant for a dinner meeting mid way between Raleigh and Charlotte. Dining at an up scale type establishment in Asheboro is tricky. But when I discovered Hamilton's Steakhouse I decided to give it a try. A very excellent dining excellent experience this was. The atmosphere is classy and current w exposed brick walls and booths in addition to tables made it easy to have a dinner conversation. The food was great - and the service was attentive.
