I had a very good experience initially making a deal on a certified pre- owned F150. My salesman Nando was very professional and knowledgeable, but that's about were it ended. I was called the next morning 30 min before my scheduled pickup by the sales manager, he conveyed to me that the finance manager called out sick and that we would have to reschedule the appointment. I took the day off of work and was already on route when I got the call. He offered no initial apologies, but did say he would see if he could get me in later that day. He called me back two hours later and said we will have to reschedule for next week. I told him "I find it hard to believe that all sales operations shuts down when one person calls out sick", and I reminded him that the condition for the sale was on a one or two day pickup because my work schedule didn't afford me a next week pick up. He then said it wasn't their fault and that the finance guy was looking to lower the interest rate even further (I already qualified with Ford for 2.99%) He then told me that even though I have good credit it came back at 8.99% and it would have taken some time to get the rate back to 2.99 and only the finance manager (the one who called out sick) could do that. Absolute bullshit in my opinion. Deal was done, hard credit was pulled, deposit was made. Someone is making shit up and it isn't me. I don't want to start out a new relationship with any dealership who pulls or puts up with these shenanigans. They sealed the deal and couldn't deliver on time. read more

I recently moved to Madison, Connecticut and needed new brakes and tires for my vehicle. I was new to the area, so a friend referred me to Hammonsasset Ford. When I called the service department, they informed me that I also needed new rotors without even inspecting the vehicle. I replied by stating I had new rotors installed 8 months prior and probably didn't need new rotors. The service person was adamant I needed these $500 rotors and told me I would destroy my vehicle if I didn't replace them. I asked him to call me once they had it on the lift with the tires removed. I received the call and was informed I needed new rotors. I drove to the dealership and pointed out to the service person the rotors were in perfect condition...no ridges...smooth as silk...STRIKE 1. Also, I asked what type of brake pads they were planning to install and where they were purchasing them. The service person gave me a quote and told me they were going to charge me dealer cost of the brake pads. I called the company where the brake pads were purchased to find out they were charging me $20 over my cost for the brake pads...not dealer cost....STRIKE 2. I felt as though this particular service person was trying to take complete advantage by attempting to sell me parts my vehicle didn't need and lying about their cost structure. The friend who recommended Hammonasset Ford was completely shocked and stated he has been a loyal customer for over 10 years, so I decided to give them a second chance and schedule an oil change and tire rotation. I receive a call an hour later from the service department stating I needed a new battery. I knew the battery had been replaced fairly recently and before taking it to Hammonsasset Ford, my vehicle showed NO signs of a depleted battery, so I felt confident with my decision to put the replacement on hold. I checked my records to discover the battery was under 2 years old and was under Nissan Warranty for 100% coverage. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I was shocked at the delay in ignition to start my vehicle. I couldn't understand how the battery drained so quickly. The battery was dead! I truly feel as though there was foul play, but how do you prove it? Did they purposely drain my battery? All I'll say is STRIKE 3!!! read more

Unfortunately one's experience with the salesperson plays a major role on ones evaluation of the dealership. Summer of 2013 at 63 years old found my worst experience with a car dealership at Hammonasset Ford totally due to the salesperson which I will not name. She was pushy, dishonest, and rude. Would not let us take the car out we wanted to buy for a long second test drive without buying it first with a 7 day option to cancel. I called the finance manager there and he allowed us to have a long test drive of the car by putting down a $500 refundable deposit. I think going over her head really made her mad. We made the deposit and took the car on a test drive on the bumby road to work that they will be working on for another 6 months that is killing our back and unfortunately it did not handle very well. Returning the car that we were really hoping to buy that day and was met by the salesperson with a response along the lines of, I knew you were not going to buy it, I knew I should not have let you take it for a long test drive. Would not return my calls to refund the $500 deposit but I did manage to finally get it back. Hammonasset Ford as a dealership could be fine, I do not know, but I do know this was a horrible experience dealing with this salesperson. read more

First I was contacted by a internet sales person who was very nice and he set up a apt for me at 5:30. I asked them to make sure they had reviewed my credit app and they thought I would qualify for the 0%. When I got there nobody knew that I was coming. They could not find the application and here is the best part. They listed the car as NEW on cars.com and I get there and not only does it have 5500+ miles (they think) but the car is not there and they have no idea when it will return because the owners wife is driving it. TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH. Ok at this point I am pissed but asked if they had any other White Expeditions and they said they only had gray. So I ask them to check if I was approved and after 20 minute of waiting I see the finance guy then go and start doing paperwork with people who arrived after me. I am so pissed at this point I go walk in the parking lot and what do I see but a WHITE EXPEDTION that they said they didn't have. I went back in side and asked if that was for sale and they said yes but it was 66K well I never told them I had a budget so I guess they assumed I could not afford it ... sounds like discrimination to me At this point after driving 40 minutes, no answer on the credit report and nothing being done before I got there and them telling me that they can sell a car that has over 5500 miles on it as new tells me these people are just looking to screw you over. Hi Everyone! So I never write reviews for businesses, however, my experience in dealing with Hammonasset Ford has been absolutely Appalling. I just bought my first car, a used 2011 Jetta, for a fair price. Even though I got the car at a decent price, the unbelievably rude associates that I was forced to work with is absolutely mind blowing. I am 25 years old and I have been in customer service since I was 16 and I know better than to treat the customer so poorly. And to top the experience off, I was hung up on today by the owner because she could not come up with a valid answer to my questions I had about how they handled the registration and taxation of my vehicle. Instead of handling the situation as a true professional would have, she told me she would not be interrupted and slammed the phone down. And a note to the owner: If you had given me a legitimate answer to my question, I would have not had to interrupt you! Very disappointed in my first car buying experience. read more
