The place is not clean. Old carpets. Old tub and showerhead not working properly. One of their employees, the night front desk lady, was here in the morning with her son eating. They left a total mess, after eating. She did not even try to clean after herself or her son. The Mexican woman in the dining area, was on her phone the whole time, while "cleaning ". She was loud and unprofessional. You should not be on the phone while you are at work. read more

Do not stay here if you have anything valuable in your vehicle. There was broken automobile glass in the parking lot. That should have been my first clue. My truck had the window smashed and tool box pried open by thieves who stole thousands of dollars in tools, let alone needing a window repair. The hotel had the crime on film but would not share any info. They knew the call in to report procedures too well. This has obviously happened multiple times there. The staff refused to help and relies on the warning signs in the parking lot. On top of that the first floor carpet is filthy. It has a black wear line that shows where everybody walks that probably has not been cleaned for over a year. There was a dead spider in the room by the tub...it was there four days later when I left that week. The vents and sprinkler heads over the food, have layers of dust that can only fall down into the fresh food and waffles. Disgusting. I stayed for three weeks and tried three different rooms. Each room took over five minutes to get hot water. In a state that has constant drought you would think they would do something about wasting water. Where they wasted water they saved on electricity, five of the seven lights to my room were burnt out. Another feature of the hotel was the fine homeless people hanging out in the parking lot and urinating on the vehicles. I let the front office staff know, but they seem to think that it was a normal thing. Unfortunately, this is not a Hilton brand hotel you wanna stay at. If you read some of the lower star reviews, you will see that they have break-ins often. Please look elsewhere for your own good. read more

**Terrible treatment by hotel management during a family funeral stay** Our group of about 35 families stayed at the Hampton Inn in Hayward, CA while attending a funeral. Collectively, we brought this hotel more than $6,000 in business that night. On Sunday evening around 8:00 p.m., we asked the front desk if we could briefly use the meeting room to finish flower arrangements for the funeral. The room was clearly available, with no one using it and no one waiting for it. After we explained that we were there for a funeral and asked for a small gesture of compassion, the front desk agreed to let us use the room free of charge until 10:00 p.m. We cleaned up after ourselves and left the room before 9:30 p.m. The next morning, our invoice showed no charge for the room, exactly as promised. Later that day, however, our credit card was charged $175. A few days later, I spoke with the property manager. She said she would look into it and call me back the next day, and indicated that she hoped we would receive a refund. She never called me back, and the charge was never reversed. This was not just poor customer service. It was a complete failure of basic compassion and professionalism at a time when our family needed kindness the most. The hotel staff made a promise, showed us a zero-balance invoice, charged us anyway, and then management failed to follow up. If you are looking for compassionate, honest, or respectful treatment during a difficult time, I strongly recommend staying somewhere else. read more

Booked a deal on a third party app and I'd say it was well worth the stay. The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. I also like how they lock the front doors during the evening hours. I felt safe staying here. Loved the air as well. Toilets can be a slow flush and my parents room a couple times they had to activate the water in the toilet but it stayed working. I would recommend a stay here if you're in the area or passing though. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby as well. Also not too far from the freeways. read more

Probably the best hotel in the area... After reading several reviews, I was skeptical. I'm glad I took my chances. I needed to be close to the area of CSUEB and this satisfied that requirement. This well maintained hotel is located on Mission which is a main street which can get busy. The immediate area isn't the best but it's only a few blocks to DT Hayward. My stay was a Saturday-Sunday visit. I booked in advance. We arrived at about 2pm and were able to check-in early. Parking was easy as was check-in. We travelled with two dogs. They assigned us to a room on the first floor close to door which led to the little dog potty designated area outside. The room was a standard room with 2 queen beds. It was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate to return. read more

My daughter and I were in Castro Valley for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. I knew it was going to be a late night and wouldn't have the energy to drive home to San Jose, so I booked a hotel a few days before. Since I wanted to rack up some points, this was the closest and cheapest Hilton hotel in the area. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was a couch where I put all my crap.. er, stuff. The shower in the bathroom was decent. My daughter loved the smells of the shampoo, soap, and lotion. I'm just relieved the fragrance was not strong. My daughter's only complaint was that there was no hot tub. She was ready to go swimming but decided not to when the pool was cold and no hot tub to warm up. But she had fun watching TV instead. I don't know what channels it offers, but she found something to enjoy. There were a lot of choices for breakfast. We got up late and realized breakfast would be closing in 5 minutes!!! We ran down there and they have not put things away! Whew! They let us get our food but closed the door at 10 AM. Coffee and tea were available 24 hours! There were waffle makers, oatmeal, eggs, sausages, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and different juices. I wish they had more fruit than apples, maybe they did, I probably didn't see them because we were in a hurry! I had waffles, eggs, and sausages. It's not 5 stars, but definitely satisfied my taste buds. We only stayed here from about 1:30 AM Sunday morning to 12 PM Sunday afternoon. I have no complaints whatsoever. I was able to check in and get a digital key on my app, but the front desk still gave me a card key. From the third floor, we had a lovely view of the parking lot where I could check on my car. I live near by and never had to stay here but my dad did this past Labor Day weekend. I got to see the inside and deal with the front desk for him. Service was friendly and the front was always clean. The first floor seems to be pet friendly and I think a bug bit me on the way out the first floor but can't confirm exactly where it happen and if it was a flea or not. I saw a lot of dogs coming in and out so I assume so. The room was spacious (he got a 2 queen beds in his room) and seemed clean. The bathroom was clean and had a tub. Tv channels weren't bad had a lot of movies playing. The only complaint I had was on the hottest weekend of the year the AC did not work well enough. It worked but we could not get it under 70 no matter what we pressed. All and all he will most likely stay there when he comes visit again. read more

Average Hampton Inn in Hayward. This hotel was the hotel block for a wedding nearby at Redwood Canyon Golf Course. The check-in/check-out process was easy. The room was clean, had great air conditioning, and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was in good shape and had good water pressure on the shower. The breakfast was different the two mornings I was there and notably, the eggs were pretty good- not fake egg from a box taste. The waffle maker was the most popular on both days. They also have coffee in the lobby all day. The gym is extremely small- 2 treadmills, and an elliptical but the secret is that there's a water jug in there with good-tasting water. Overall, this was what I expected from a Hampton Inn, and was happy with my stay. read more

Review for Jan. 15, 2022 We're from L.A. traveled here to visit a family member for the weekend. All the hotel prices have gone up since the pandemic. I was lucky I had points to burn as a Diamond member so I only needed funds for the incidental fees for the night. We stayed in a 2 queen bed studio suite. The room had a mini fridge and microwave and a tv. A small desk and chair and a lounge chair and foot stool. The bathroom was clean as well. The only problem we had was the hot water wasn't working and we wanted to shower and rest before we drove back to L.A. the next morning. It took maintenance 5 hrs to fix it and we were already restless and exhausted of waiting. Finally the hot water was on. Took our showers and went straight to sleep cause we were really tired. Breakfast is complimentary Wifi is complimentary Parking is complimentary Incidental Fees: $50/night The hotel is in a pretty rough area so I would be cautious of leaving valuable items inside your vehicle. I just wouldn't stay here in the future as this was the only hotel available and only cheaper rate compared to the others. But again, I'd book elsewhere. read more

I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel after a two-night stay here a couple of weeks ago. We only live one county over, but had a 6:30 a.m. motorcycle class scheduled on a Saturday and Sunday morning, so felt it would be smartest to just spend the night a little closer to the class location in Hayward. Check-in was quick and the girl was absolutely super sweet and professional and all the things you want in someone greeting your guests. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy. Comfortable bed and pillows is the most important aspect of a good hotel for me. Location was also safe and parking was free and I was comfortable leaving the car and not worrying about it overnight. I looked at a ton of other nearby hotels and I'm so glad I picked this one! Wish we'd had time to check out their small fitness room and the pool! read more

What can I say...I love spending the nights at Hampton Inn, and if you're anywhere near the San Fran area, this is probably the most price conscience place around. It's a bit of a drive, but needing to spend $200.00 a night here instead of $500.00 anywhere in the Bay area is just a savings I couldn't do without. The downside is the traffic in the morning needing to cross the bridge from Oakland into the financial district in San Fran but if you're not needing to be anywhere anytime soon, a few minutes here or there really isn't a big deal to save a ton of money a night. Unfortunately, a week after arriving home and not being able to find my laptop charger, I decided to call this hotel and speak to the front desk; the lady who answered, Evelyn, said she'd check with housekeeping and get back to me. After about 30 minutes of so, she called me to tell me that it was there and that she'd be happy to send it via FedEx to which I chose the 3 day service. Just wanted to say how I sincerely appreciate the way this hotel chain handles items left in a hotel room even after a week's time; it was clearly marked and kept in a safe place for unsuspecting patrons like me who wear their eyeballs on the bottom of their feet. I like Hampton Inn. The Hampton in Hayward has an outdoor pool, a small fitness room and hot breakfast option. The room was clean, the shower was hot. Free parking. Easy in and out. Very briefly. I arrived at around 1130 as I was flying in from the east coast. I was sharing the room with my friend who flew in from Vancouver. We get to the room to find one of the beds was unmade. No sheets in the room just pillows and a quilt. When I asked downstairs the man said there was no one that could make the bed and that he did not know how to make a bed. Seriously? I had to make the bed at midnight after traveling all day to get there. The next day I asked if it was possible to get a late check out on my return date and was rudely dismissed. This is how Hilton Honors member are treated. I will use and recommend Marriott Hotels from now on. read more

Didn't leave the hotel so had no idea til I went to check out that my car window had been broken and someone went through my car Luckily I didn't have anything of value in there . I went back in the hotel and was visibly shakin up and all the front desk had to say is "we are not responsible " and continued doing whatever she was doing. I've stayed at this Hampton Inn several times, and my experiences have been extremely positive. The room is made up daily, and is spotlessly clean. I have to say at my last stay they went above good service. I left a drawer full of clothing and medications in my room. When I realized what had happened I called the hotel. The housekeeping staff had already brought my things down to the front desk. They asked me to email them a prepaid mailing label and that they would box my stuff up and mail it to me. This Hampton Inn was a nice stay and we would come back here again. It was on the pricey side ($260), but we did get a suite with a huge hot tub. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed for our trip -- a microwave, a huge fridge, a comfy bed, and plenty of soaps. There is complimentary wifi, breakfast, and a fitness center. Wifi can be a little spotty... got kicked off a few times just trying to post on Instagram. Breakfast was great -- had served maple sausage, eggs, yogurts, cereals, fruits, and orange juice. Parking was kind of limited, but we checked in at 9pm. Also, the hot tub takes like... an hour to fill up. So you can probably get a work out downstairs while you have it running, lol. I stayed here for 1 night. Jan. 8-9th 2024 for a funeral. I read the reviews and the hotel seemed very clean and safe. The reviews were absolutely right. I didn't get the lady's name at the front desk who was working around noon on Jan. 8th, but she was extremely helpful, and she made me feel welcomed. She was just very nice. I've stayed at other hotels and the front desk people just seemed like robots no smile, not nice, but not mean, just like whatever. I loved the coffee and tea they provide 24hrs in the lobby. The lobby was very clean. My room was very clean. It was an easy process. I was able to check into my room right away without having to wait until after 3pm. It was a hard time going through the loss of my 3 year old niece, but the front desk lady made me feel good. Her smile and politeness, I needed that. I would totally recommend this hotel. Reliable, trustworthy, clean rooms, friendly staff, and low pricing make this an easy choice when looking for a simple room for the night. Front desk hostess was very kind and patient, and after checking in they gave me a gift basket for having a Hilton membership; a small but thoughtful gift. Other hotels, resorts, and some villas I've stayed at have seemingly forgotten how important the small details are, while charging incredibly high rates relative to this hotel. The comparison is a bit like apples to oranges, as one is meant for luxury and the other isn't, but it is noteworthy. I will be honest I was very hesitant about staying here based on the fact I drive through here all the time on my way to the Bay Area and some of the folk walking, merking around plus can be a lot of homeless as well. But even at 3 bills this was the cheapest Hilton property in the area. Side-point this same hotel anywhere else from my travels is between $99-149 per night. Oh well it's the E Bay and why I hate it down here.... Enough of that upon pulling into the hotel I was a little shocked what I found was a very clean and well manicured landscaping that was impeccably maintained. I parked up front and walked through the doors into what you can tell is a very recently completely remodeled hotel. "Sweet!"....the front desk clerk welcomed me with a ultra friendly "welcome to the Hampton Inn" ok off to a good impression. Pretty easy transaction I always check in on line so no fuss I grabbed my room keys and up I went. Once into the room as you can see well appointed room that was huge! Also 100% remodeled and I was super impressed. All my anxiety soon went away and found everything about this Hampton Inn to be well above my expectations. I also would for sure stay here again if I needed to stay in the area. Lastly I got a little brave and headed out to dinner and again stumbled upon their quant downtown area and this is a hidden gem. Lots of great restaurants and little bars/pubs and less than 5 minutes in a car. read more

It's hard to find a good hotel and a hot cookie in Hayward. Guess what? FOUND IT!! Plus, an exceptional friendly staff (even the pool/groundskeeper greeted us warmly!!). The rooms are spacious & very clean. Really quite the gem in the Hayward area. My only complaint is that there aren't a ton of places within walking distance to eat. There are a few chains close by (burger/chicken joints), but for the real restaurants - you have to head downtown towards Main Street (about 4 miles away). read more

The staff here is amazing! Patty at the front desk is great! Great attitude and all around a sweet lady! We had an incident with another customer staying in but the staff made us feel very welcomed and comfortable and didn't let it ruin our night! The lobby, hallway and our room smelled nice and fresh! It's not a big hotel but it's clean. We got a room on the third floor with 2 queen size beds. The bed was comfortable and sheets smelled fresh and clean. The staff were very friendly and made sure our needs were met. They had complimentary breakfast. The was okay. It was basic breakfast fares. Can't really complain. This property is poorly ran. I am a Hilton Diamond Member, called the front desk for a digital key, and the guest service agent stated the system was down. I arrived at the hotel and the manager said I had a charge back on my last stay, however my last stay I used points. The manager then went on to say I am a bad guest, yet I am a diamond member. If you are not going to allow someone to stay, please have all of your facts before accusing someone of something. This hotel property is terrible and the GM should be fired. read more

Stayed here for a weekend while attending an event at Chabot College. Hotel was fine not great, however below expectations for a Hampton inn. Sunday morning we discovered that almost every car in the parking lot was keyed and some had windows broken. The front desk said only that this happens all the time and cops don't help them out. They didn't offer any helpful resolution for the situation, but did recommend filling out an online police report with city of Hayward. Wouldn't recommend staying here. read more

Our car was broken into the first night we stayed although we parked right in front. The front desk worker didn't seem to care when we told him, and admitted this happens often and that their cameras haven't worked for months. The next day we overheard other guests talking about their car windows being broken into as well. I booked this hotel thinking it was among the nicer ones in the area but their security is a 0/10. I would not recommend staying here. Zero effort to make things right or even offer any sympathy at all for our valuables being taken. read more

I really, really appreciate So Cal! The hotel staff wasn't that friendly or competent. One of our keys stopped working and we couldn't get anyone in there to help us. We had to shuffle one key. I don't know if it's just me but everyone in the bay area had a staring problem. It wasn't just at this hotel either, it was everywhere. Everyone however at this hotel stared. It was so bad that I loved coming back to LA. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept. The lobby was very well stocked. They had all types of quality tea and coffee. I used the gym and all the equipment was clean and operational. It's tiny but big for a hotel. The pool looked decent but I didn't see a jacuzzi. The room was very nice. I liked how it looked modern and clean. They even clean the top sheets! Major plus. I liked how the shower was high and the water was strong. I liked the fact that we had enough towels. I liked how when you closed the curtains the room got completely dark which made for a nice afternoon nap. I just liked this room. In the toiletries they even had mouthwash! Now for the shining star: the breakfast buffet! I have never stayed anywhere where they give you anything more than continental breakfast. Here you can get unlimited waffles! And they cook various things like hash browns and bagel toppers that change daily. You can get oatmeal and cold cereal as well. I would come back because of this alone! I arrived on Thanksgiving afternoon for a visit with my brother and his family. The lobby was well-lit, clean and inviting, and the desk staff was friendly and welcoming. My room was on the first floor, down the hall a bit from the lobby area. The room was a little on the small side, but it was fine because it was just me. Everything was clean and in place. The room was quite comfortable and I especially liked the desk and office chair which were perfect for some last minute work I had to do. The only slight negative was that my room faced the parking lot and I could hear cars when they started up, but it was not a big deal. The breakfast bar could have been better. First off it had plastic utensils (come on!). Secondly, the breakfast offerings were basic--coffee, juices, waffle iron, sausage and French toast, but no bacon, no eggs of any kind, and no pancakes. Check-out was quick and painless and once again the staff was exceptionally friendly. On balance, I had a pleasant stay and I'm likely to stay here again, should business or pleasure bring me to Hayward. read more

I ended up here while working in the area and didn't want to go home in the early AM. Summary: --somewhat better than normal Hampton breakfast. Free. --friendly staff, though they could have put me on the quiet side of the hotel with a little thought on their part. --(free) parking wasn't nearly as bad as the other review says. Area wasn't particularly sketchy and there was decent lighting. See photos (taken in daylight, duh) --my room on the main road side, Mission, was ok for noise. Probably better to get a room in the back. --free in-room internet --ok, though small fitness room and pool --10 minutes from OAK and somewhat better than the Hampton next to OAK --don't expect an automatic upgrade to suite with Hilton diamond status.
