HR Harley-Davidson's store front is pretty impressive from the moment you walk in. The showroom blasts music, there's a whole load of bikes to drool over and there's even accessories and clothing at the back. If you turn up on a Saturday, you'll see a variety of different bikes roaring outside in the parking lot. It's quite the show. The clothing selection isn't terribly priced, you can find some good deals on quality items for biking gear, whether you're a Harley fan or an actual biker. There's something for everyone. Parts are expensive, as are the actual bikes - but I guess that's the price you pay when you're part of or want to be in the Harley gang, it's not cheap! We visited with a friend whose bike was being repaired. It was a little chaotic as no one actually knew where his bike was, we walked around the courtyard looking for it but turned out it was in the shop still. Regardless, staff were friendly and apologized for the confusion. We waited in the showroom until we were told it was ready. I'll definitely come back whether for an event or to just drool over the bikes. read more

I have been there many times, and they always had everything I wanted. Great service, and always polite.

I hadn't even thought to review this location but it popped up on Yelp and I'd forgotten that we checked in here! I took both my kids to their Halloween trunk-or-treat event this fall. It was PERFECT for two small kids who love all things that go "vroom" -- lots of decked out bikes and cars where they could get candy and check out the beautiful vehicles. They also had a little food vendor selling basic burgers/dogs and some sides. The store was open as well, and the staff was really kind about letting the kids check out the bikes and even sit on a few with supervision. Really hoping all the COVID-19 stuff goes away by Halloween so we can visit this location again for the event! read more

In addition to presenting yearly awards to their number one dealership, Harley Davidson releases a top dealership list every year. Without fail three things these top dealerships have in common is that they are open on the weekend, are open well past 5pm, and support the troops (not with words, but action). So it disappoints me when I find a dealership that doesn't do any of that, don't they want to make money? In anycase Hampton dealership is nice, and the staff is friendly. The open layout gives a warehouse feel, and they have a decent selection of bikes and swag. read more

I appreciate their courtesy, knowledge, and willingness to go the extra mile. When a third-party agency miscommunicated and overestimated on a promise to me, I was more than a little disappointed. The service desk knows what questions to ask and delivered efficient and quality service. technicians have no clue what they are doing. brought my 2013 FLHTK to them with a check engine light throwing a code for a correlation error for the twist grip sensor. they have had the bike for a month+ now and they still have not fixed the problem yet they keep on throwing parts they "think" may be the problem so they have supposedly repinned the connector at the throttle body, replaced the twist grip sensor, "checked" for a bad spot in the harness, hooked up a used throttle body and now they say they "think" the ecm is no good. took it to them because the dealership should be the experts and most qualified to find and fix the cause of my issue yet I am being jerked around while they also try to sell me a new bike to "save me the headache" read more

These guys honestly saved my opinion of Harley Davidson. After a terrible experience somewhere else, I called up Hampton Roads Harley because of some issues with my bike. They quickly came out to pick up my bike for me, and did everything they could to make the experience as quick and easy as possible. The tech they had working on my bike personally called the same day to let me know what was wrong, and to let me know they fixed everything. You can tell that they really care about their customers, and I am sure I will be returning to them. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the first time I went in, no one in sales paid any attention until I actually walked up to the counter 20 minutes later with an item. Also the young guy in service couldn't be bothered to look up from his magazine when I asked a question. But in this instance, I am glad to say that first impressions were wrong. I have run into all the people from that first visit since then, and all of them have given much better service, it must have just been an off day. read more

My first experience with Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson (HRHD) was at the Grand Opening when it moved to the new location in Yorktown in 2003. I wasn't a motorcycle rider yet, but loved soaking up that rider ambience and participated in the tattoo contest. Everyone was friendly and I visited from time to time. Cut to two years later. In 2005 I purchased a previously owned bike (Kawasaki Vulcan 750), took the rider course and got my license. After a year of gaining riding experience, I visited HRHD. I saw this beautiful 880 Sportster Factory Custom in teal and gray on the floor. It was love at first sight and I had to have her. I had custom chaps made in gray with teal piping. Two visits later (savoring the wait), she was mine. What a beauty, and so perfect! My sales experience was top-notch with Kelli, I joined the local HOG chapter, and learned to love group riding, even becoming a Road Captain for the Chapter. Cut to October 2008. I'd been riding my little beauty for 3 years and she was paid for. But I was getting restless. Highway riding proved to be a bridge too far for my little lady, and she shook so much at speed that she lost parts on the highway. It was time to look for a big girl bike. I went looking for Panhead Debi, former mechanic and now working sales. I knew what I wanted and I knew Debi would make sure I got it. A 2009 Heritage Softail Classic. Six speeds, lots of chrome, and all the bells and whistles. She could not only handle the highway, she was a highway star. Beyond the (true) story-telling, Hampton Roads Harley Davidson is the only store I've ever seen where when you make a purchase, you are embraced as family. Customers are extremely loyal, as the staff go beyond the norm to insure not only satisfaction, but supreme service. The owner, Mary Hughes, is beloved by the staff, customers and community with good reason. Let me just say that there are posters, bumper stickers and helmet stickers that say, "Mary Rocks!" Local news stations do stories on the many charitable programs she supports, including Muscular Dystrophy, Toys 4 Tots, and Achievable Dream. There are more, but she never toots her own horn. Her support of the local HOG chapter is legendary, with about 1,000 members, about 200 of which actively participate in HOG activities. Why 5 stars for what essentially is a retail establishment? We enjoy stopping in to various cycle dealerships when traveling, so we made a short side trip to HR H-D while in Williamsburg. I found the place to be friendly and inviting. Jason in sales knew that we were from out of state and already owned bikes, so [in all likelihood] we wouldn't be making any big purchases today. But he still took the time to chat with me, provide info on models in their showroom, answer questions... basically made us feel very welcome even though we were "passers-through". Shana in the clothing dept was also friendly, helpful but low-pressure. While I didn't buy anything, she inspired me to order from her in the future. Did I pull out my wallet while I was in HR H-D? No I did not, simply nothing I needed to purchase today. But the receptive customer service and friendly atmosphere motivated me to come on here and post a 5-star Yelp, so there ya go. We are cycle owners, and we've seen many dealerships both H-D and otherwise, with customer service ranging from great to atrocious and everything in between. I would buy a new bike from these people. I simply asked about putting a bigger tire and was totally dismissive and said go to service...i went to service...said go back to parts (Kevin). He said would order tire but I would have to pay re-stocking fee of 20 percent...total jerk.....it you go to a Harley Shop...go to Richmond.....awesome customer service...unlike this place... read more

Service Department ruined it for me. I purchased a brand new 2016 Heritage Classic and had nothing but problems with it. It was in for warranty repair every month. When I would bring it in for service they would find oil leaks and tell me they tightened it with a wrench and will keep an eye on it. If it is still leaking at the next service we will replace it. Next service would come they would tell me about the same leaks and that they tightened it with a wrench and will keep an eye on it and replace it next time if it is still leaking. This went on the entire time it was under warranty. The minute my warranty expired they told me that all the oil leaks need to be fixed. Then have me a bill for close to $5000 to replace all the leaking gaskets and oil lines that they were putting a wrench in for over 2 years. You guys ruined it for me. I can't wait to sell this money pit you sold me. Never buying another bike for this dealership. Probably never buying another Harley period read more

while yes i had Originally given this dealership a two star review I just change to a five star review after the outstanding service I have gotten from them after I went to Bayside Harley Davidson and bought a new bike and they refused to help me out and help cover some of the repair cost after the starter went out10 days after the purchase Bayside let it sit at their dealership for a week without even diagnosing the issue and the second I brought it over to Hampton Roads they were already working on it and it was absolutely phenomenal wait they handle that my bike was back to me in about five hours of work so hands-down going to be my new favorite Harley dealership to go to read more

I took a buddies tires to them because my tire changing machine is not working right now and they had Kelly Ford do the tire change. When he was done the rear rim was damaged and he proceeded to blame us for the damage. The tires that were on it were the original tires to the bike. Then when my buddy ask for a manager the manager was saying that he didn't inspect them before the work was done which is understandable he shouldn't have to do the inspections. The technician Kelly Ford should have said something if the damage was there when he started the work but nothing was said about any damage. However, we got the feeling that they didn't want to fix the problem and make it worth are time of waiting two hours in the first place to get them changed. We got them to fix the damage and they gave us only a six dollar discount just to change the tire on the rims. I have been going to them for years. I have bought two bikes from them. I have never felt so unappreciated as a customer before. I will not be recommending there service department to anyone again and I will not be going back to them for anything again. They charged way to much just to change the tires that weren't even on a bike and didn't even have to balance them but they still wanted about 100 dollars to do the work. I know they have to make money but they don't need it all from one customer. read more

I wanted to write this recommendation as soon as possible. I wrote a previous review about a rider to rider buy gone bad to which it did, but not in the way that the events lined up to make it look. Shortly after the review posted, I was contacted by first the marketing manager, and then shortly after by the owner. Both of these men were fully willing to explain exactly how the situation occurred, and as it turns out, it was not at all what it so very much looked like. The marketing manager and the owner both went above and beyond to correct the situation even after finding out that it was just an odd set of coincidences. The bike I wanted was listed on a public marketing source at a deal too good to beat, and the owner of the company jumped on the deal not knowing that it I was already considering purchasing. I will eat my words on this one. They are a stand up organization. I will be a customer. read more

This dealership DEFINES customer service! Sometimes it takes a bad experience for you to know just how great something is! See, I had a very unpleasant experience at my local dealer, outer banks Harley last week, and in october. It 'would' have been my second purchase there (second time getting a bad deal etc) but I learned what to look out for since my first purchase, and shopped around. I found the same bike (softail deluxe) that i was looking for at Harley here at HD Yorktown VA.... All I can say is.... WOW! It was like they rolled the red carpet out for me/us!!!! Seriously... First...It's a HUGE dealership... Huge selection of everything! during my buying process, they introduced me to every department head from finance, parts, repair, and clothing... Each representative gave a tour and was amazingly friendly! The deal I received for my bike was also what I was needing (and wasn't ripped off like prior store, paid 30% over bike value after add on unnecessary fees and parts n accessories that I didn't even buy and was treated 'unimportant') .... I was treated with the best business and customer service imaginable! I am blown away at how perfect my experience there was relative to my sportster purchase a few months earlier in the Obx dealership! So I am very happy I took the chance and drove out of state to find this dealership. I will return here for all future Harley needs and refer friends and family HERE!!!
