They used to be my favorite but they're declining too fast. 1. Side dishes have gotten worse in quality 2. Main dishes are super expensive now. My favorite was galbi jjim ($65) is now $96 with the same portion, less meat even though they said the reason for price hike is due to increase in meat price! But $30 hike up is too much. 3. Spiciness level: I clearly ordered mild and they made is very spicy! I don't get it, why bother asking then. It was impossible to taste the actual food due to over spiciness. Now with all the significant price hike later, least we deserved was the correct spiciness level. Especially since we made it clear again and again. I won't recommend Hangang anymore. read more

My husband and I stumbled into Han Gang one Saturday when we didn't know what we wanted to eat, and we're really glad we did. We weren't sure about it at first because the menu online didn't have prices, but the woman at the hostess stand let us look at the menu before we decided to sit down. The restaurant was full and lively. The service was really wonderful, everyone we interacted with was very nice and welcoming. With our water we got hot tea and a cold pumpkin soup, which was a very nice surprise and delicious. We got the side dishes of veggies and were often asked if we wanted them replenished. We split the Tteok Bokki, he got the Hangang Dolsot Bibimbap, and I got the Hangang Bibimbap. Both came with miso soup which was another nice surprise. It was all absolutely delicious and enough of the bibimbap for leftovers. The bibimbap stone bowl were so hot throughout the meal that you couldn't leave your chopsticks resting on them because they would be burning, but they definitely kept the food warm. My favorite place to get mool neng myun: ice cold beef broth with buckwheat noodles, thinly sliced beef, sliced cucumbers, radish and pear, and added vinegar and hot mustard to your liking. I'm confident to say I've had this bowl of noodles all over the DMV and this is my favorite place to get it. You can tell they put a lot of care and effort into making this by seeing how they ensure the buckwheat noodles are not overcooked and the flavor of the broth has much more depth than other restaurants. From the time we walked in to the moment we left, service was so pleasant. Food - the banchan (side dishes) come out individually for each person which I think is nice. It's not a guarantee that they'll always have it, however. Surprisingly, our two sushi salad bowls weren't very good. There was SO much iceberg lettuce. LOL There was a party going on when we were there- I doubt it's that noisy at other times. The one thing that prevents me from giving them perfect grades is this: When we first walked in, we were given a table that hadn't been cleared. After they took everything away, no one wiped the table. When I asked the hostess to clean the table, she brought a rag to wipe it. The smell of the table became something foul. It was from the dirty rag. We were gagging. When the server was told about it, the table was wiped properly with spray and clean cloth. The food was excellent: our table ordered the dumpling (mandoo) soup, beef grilled by the waitress (bulgogi), cold noodle dishes (naeng-myun), and mixed rice (bibim-bop). It's become our go-to place for celebrations, and hearkens back to the original and legendary 'Woo Lae Oak' back in the day. The taste here is noticeably better somehow. Waitstaff was very accommodating and fast. No extra charge for extra rice or extra helpings of side-dishes, adorning our table. It was our dad's birthday, and we had brought a cake to celebrate. My wife glanced at the table next to us who had a seafood jungol. Looked it had crab inside. Have to get it next time. My galbitang with cabbage was so good. The meat was so tender and flavorful. Great broth and so glad they cut up the cabbage and meat too. My wife's spicy seafood stew was good too. Overall came to be a really delicious lunch. Even my little girl liked the jeon appetizer with egg fried zucchini, shrimp, and fish jeon. They have one very large private dining room that seats 32 and a smaller one tucked in the back near the bathrooms too. Service was quick and attentive. Caters to many non Koreans here as well. My family and I have dined at this restaurant several times over the years and last night was probably our last time due to the terrible service we received. We were a party of 7 adults, and we came out last night to celebrate my birthday. The banchan they had set out for us was okay. The bibim nangmyeon was good. My mom's food never came out. My brother had to get up and try to find our waitress probably 20-30 minutes after we had all been eating to see if my mom was getting her food. A bus boy and different waitress came by our table first before our waitress FINALLY came back to check on us (it was not a very busy night). We will not be coming back. read more

I had heard this was one of the more upscale Korean BBQ restaurants so we decided to give it a try. At 5:30 on a Friday there was minimal wait. Note that they don't take reservations. We really liked the atmosphere inside and the tables are all very large. We tried the Hangang Yang Nyum Galbi (short ribs) which was cooked in front of us as well as the Hwae Dup Bap entree. The food arrived quickly and was cooked perfectly. Although one of the pricier Korean BBQ places around, the portions are very large and the quality is excellent. What prevented a 5 star review was the fact that we never got a water refill and we were basically forgotten by the servers at the end of our meal. I went and notified the manager and she apologized and made sure we were taken care of. Overall, a good experience and worth a try if you like Korean BBQ. read more

I've come here over a hundred times and never knew they had the marinated fermented raw crab in soy brine--it was UH-MAY-ZING!!!! Great service comparing to other Korean BBQ. It is less noisy than other place. A great way to have a dinner for couple without all the normal craziness in Korean BBQ place. The portion of each disk is big. If you only have two people (with lady), then make sure you don't order too much food. Many Koran place stop asking you for side disk after two times. In here, the Koran server always ask if we want more food. We liked the OJING-UH BOKKEUM, Haemul Pajeon, and HANGANG DOLSOT BIBIMBAP. Also, you will not find hottie server here, but definitely this is a place to enjoy meal with friends and families. Parking is easy and easy to access from all direction. read more

The total damage to the wallet was over $200 but what was most disappointing about the experience was they didn't serve any dessert! And when we got up to leave, no one even greeted us goodbye, even tho the waitress was right there near the exit and she fully knew we were leaving. I mean I'll excuse her cuz she was waiting on a table by the door and I suppose I can excuse them since there wasn't a designated host (front of the house) who would normally greet the guests. This place is a family favorite, feel bad not reviewing sooner. I come here often because the food is some of my favorite. Parking is great here, lot of spaces, although it'll look crowded at peak times. A lot of Korean people come here after church for example. Walking in, there's a nice entryway that looks more upscale, and the restaurant itself has plenty of seating with options for Korean BBQ (not all you can eat). The service here is top notch, with a lot of people having been here for many years, so they know how to put the customer first! My go to is the hwedeopbap, which is raw fish and greens mixed with spicy sauce and rice. It's truly incredible, and my favorite dish here. Other good options are the appetizers for the spicy rice cakes (ddeokbokki), which isn't street style but more brown, the dumplings which they make in house. Get it fried or boiled. I think their kalbi is the best in the area, it's my favorite. It's pricy since you order a la cart, but we'll worth it. There are a ton of options, and you can't go wrong coming here! read more

It's more on the nicer side of Korean restaurant as you can likely tell by the price on their menu. If you are looking for a more cost friendly Korean food, this place is not it. Their hot pots range in the $30~$40 and even other specialty dishes are on the expensive side. However, the food and the side dishes are very good which makes it up for the price. You can tell that the food quality is good and you don't really taste the MSG and other not so healthy ingredients. Tried their galbi as well but it was a bit too tough for my liking. But their stew was good. This is a place where you bring your family on an occasion rather than somewhere you'd quickly stop by for some Korean food. I went for my birthday and enjoyed it. Their green tea ice cream is really good, so save room for that after dinner. It is a traditional styled BBQ restaurant but separates groups nicely considering the pandemic. The partition and booths seem to create a nice barrier between groups. I really liked the rice cake and the dumpling were like the homemade ones that my mom used to make. The staff was very attentive and the restaurant was clean.
