I have been coming to this dental for few years, and everything was good until my last visit there. The doctor was really rude and very hard to communicate with him as he was really annoyed that the fact I went to another dental. I was unemployed for a few months and during that time, I went to a low income clinic for my teeth treatment, I had 2 fillings to do and had done 1 of them with them. After a few weeks, I became employed, so I went back to Hanna dental to do my last filling, and doctor said there is no need for filler, and when I said to him that the other clinic told me that there is a need of filler for 1 tooth. When I mentioned the other clinic, he became so irritant and insulting to me. By that age, he should know that life has ups and down.. sometimes people get unemployed and income varies. Dr. Yoo is a PHENOMENAL example of a doctor with both great medical skills as well as the art of making a patient feel truly cared for. Our whole family feels blessed to have found Dr. Yoo through a referral from a friend who spoke very highly of him. Hana dental also has a kick ass team, with Louis who is so smooth and good as what he does that there isn't even a pause in the processes when he is up, and staff who are all friendly. My mom needed a whole new set of dentures urgently, and as she isn't well physically and mentally, it was a daunting challenge for us. We were massively late to the first appointment because it took me and my sister 50 minutes to get her from the parking lot to the office (3 min for normal people). I half expected to get kicked out, but when the doctor saw the situation, he calmly asked the staff to get us water first thing as we were all sweating. Once in the chair, mom started going on about things, and I tried to stop her out of respect for the doctor's time, but he said, "No, you have to listen to the patient." And let her go on. And go on she did. He interacted with her with amazing patience until he was able to get her to give clear permission to start working on the procedures. Through all of it, she got very relaxed and comfortable with the experience. After all, if someone is going into your mouth with tools, it is important to feel comfortable about it. We've been there several times, as the denture making process is a long one. We got the set in about 1 month, and then it's an on going process to make adjustments. Through each and every visit, Dr. Yoo and every staff has been consistently patient and friendly. I've seen many doctors from many healthcare fields run out of patience with my mom, unfortunately, due to her conditions... and this has been the best experience for her and the family by far. Went to this dentist because I have a shaking dental crown and wanted to fix it asap. Exam took about 10 minutes. Bill came out for $180 with 2 x-ray shots with estimate close to 5k dollars if I want to go further with the treatment. When I came to reception to pay for visit, front desk nurse just reads out the bill with robotic tone of voice and tells me that my insurance is known for slow payment so I have to pay them first then get reimbursed later which I'm totally fine with. I could see nurse was getting annoyed by each question I was asking about future procedure even though place wasn't busy at all. With big operation like this, I have every right to ask legitimate questions. I'm pretty sure that an AI bot would do better job than her and have more human-like voice tone. So, I rushed out of the place because I could see the nurse was getting annoyed with "Leave me alone" look on the face. I ended up returning to home with bitter taste in my mouth and started to email dentist to discuss about the treatment. Dentist replied to my first email that my bill would be close to 5k and stops replying as soon as I asked if price adjustment is possible. I'm embarrassed to say this but I only see dentists whenever I'm in need of specific services like crowns or a wisdom teeth removal. I personally have been traumatized as a child going to the dentist so it's been really hard for me to just go in let alone for a check up. I knew that the older I get, the more I need to take care of myself. It's recommended to get a teeth cleaning every six months which I have neglected for 10+ years. I know gross but I'm telling you, I just couldn't get over my fears for a long time. After reading the reviews and the fact that I'm not too far from Hana Dental, I had the courage to see Dr. Yoo. Everyone would want to visit the hospital from a respectful and fair standpoint. The place I visited was far from that. Even though it is fully covered by insurance, they ask me to pay the medical expenses first. Patients should not go to places like this. A few days ago, the crown on one of my molars fell off for some reason, so I made an appointment and visited this dentist with it. The young woman working the reception desk occasionally glanced sideways and did not seem to be in a welcoming mood to patients at the hospital where she worked. I had California Blue Shield Insurance, and the young woman doing the intake at the hospital even asked me for my insurance card and verified my identity. After taking an x-ray picture, the doctor, He gave me a simple diagnosis and told me that I needed to extract the tooth with the crown that had fallen off and treat 3 teeth through BRIDGE. I asked what the cost would be and was told it was $2,450. The explanation is that even though the tooth from which the crown fell off has already undergone root canal treatment, so there is no pain and there is only a simple cavity, such treatment should be omitted and the tooth should just be extracted and bridged. It seems to me that it can still be used, but doctor only recommend pulling it out. When I asked if this Bridge procedure was covered by insurance, the answer was that they would check with the insurance company to find out. I understood that this hospital does not charge fees after the procedure, but rather charges after inquiring with the insurance company. Therefore, I understood that there would be no case where money was not paid by the insurance company. They are clever that I thought. I should get another doctor's opinion, but what's even weirder is After the doctor's explanation, the young woman at the reception desk told me that even though I had insurance, I had to pay the treatment fee in cash or by card. When I asked why, I was told that the medical expenses may not be approved by the insurance company, so they collect them from the hospital in advance and refund them later when payment is made. No surgery was done They just gave me a diagnosis, but I have no idea what they mean. If this was going to be the case, why did they ask for my insurance card and even verify my identity? They will know the coverage of my insurance in countless cases, and if they look at the benefits of my California Blue Shield Insurance Plan: Gold DPPO/$2000/MAC, They must be well aware that X-rays, diagnosis, and preventive treatment are 100% full coverage and cost the patient nothing, but they unfairly asked me to pay in cash. I think that in the case of older people, they do not fully understand their insurance coverage, so there are many cases where they end up paying out of their own pockets that they do not need to pay even though they have insurance. Even if the insurance company later pays the hospital medical expenses, the patient It can be assumed that there are many cases where the money received first is not returned. This is a crime. Whether this is the case or not can be quickly confirmed through their accounting data. I will see thoughfully their responses. read more

It's been a very long time since I've visited Hana Dental, but I was inspired to write this review after reading about some dentists regularly recommend unnecessary procedures for profit. When I first visited Hana, Dr. Yoo told me I had 16 cavities that needed to be filled. I got some of them done before moving out of LA. At my current dentist, guess what would happen? They said I have no cavities after taking xrays and examining the work. I'm not sure if I was an outlier case, but I'd be careful visiting in the future. read more

There are so many dentists to choose from in Koreatown, but every family member I sent to Hana dental has been so happy with the dentist and the staff that they have stayed with this office. Parking is in a structure and not cheap as is all of known, but they validate unto 1hr and 15 minutes, which is usually plenty of time to get in and out since they pretty much get you in at your reserved appointment time. read more

They make you feel comfortable the moment you step into the office. The receptionists are also very nice and easy going. It is a breeze to schedule/change/cancel an appointment. They accept PPD insurance and you can ask them before going in so that nothing comes as a surprise. With or without insurance though, the price they charge is very reasonable compared to other dentists. And they never try to upsell or add on any service to make money. They care for their patients. Uh oh....the root canal FAILED and then Dr. Yoo had to pull the tooth. He charged for BOTH. That did not feel so great. The root canal did not take and I ended up losing the ENTIRE tooth and now need an implant. So a TOTAL waste of money on ever having the root canal completed. Called Dr. Yoo and he said he would have a look. He did and decided the tooth could not be saved. He pulled the tooth, charged to do so AND I paid for the root canal. Now off to get a 3k IMPLANT....after paying for the root canal. Ugh, just does not feel great. Ya know? read more

Ok, so I felt really guilty because I had to leave my previous dentist (who I liked) for Hana due to change of insurance.. and wow! I'm soooo glad I found Hana dental. Like most people, I had very bad experiences in the past (bc of the Doctor) and was very nervous and skeptical but Hana made my visit so nice and easy. The receptionist? So welcoming, professional and sweet. Dr. Yoo? He's sooo easygoing! We talked about sports, relationships and came to talk about how him and his assistant have been working together for over a decade.. even before he opened up his own office. Talk about loyalty. Dr. Jason Yoo at Hana Dental was the first dentist I have ever trusted. It's amazing how he has little tricks that he has developed to minimize or even eliminate pain. I barely feel a thing when he injects a needle in my mouth - I don't know how he does it but it works! I have been a loyal customer since 2004 and he has been consistently excellent the entire time. His assistants have also all been top notch - they handle the x-rays, cleaning and scaling professionally and they are also all friendly. The review about the receptionist is a bit unfair. She speaks English but her first language is Korean. Koreans can get a bit flustered or nervous when speaking English, especially if you get aggressive with them. For the first 10 minutes or so, I spoke to her strictly in English and she handled my insurance and other sign-in paperwork fine. When I busted out the Korean she was more friendly and relaxed but her English was fine too. But to me it's all about the experience in the dreaded dental chair, and Dr. Yoo makes it smooth and easy. Just went to my new dentist because I moved but realized how much I missed this dentist. Dr Jason and Luise did an exceptional job with my rootcanel and cavity which I didn't have to go back to a dentist for a long time. I also don't remember having a good insurance or even having an insurance at the time and their price was so reasonable and affordable. Especially compared to other dentist near which drastically charge you just because of your insurance status. I was saved so many times and cannot thank them enough. A friend of mine was told my another dentist that her 8 year old child needed very expensive braces. I told my friend to get a second opinion from Dr Yoo and rather than offering to do the same thing at a bit lower price, he told her the truth- her daughter's teeth are fine and that while braces would look cosmetically nice for now, over the long run her teeth would naturally correct itself. Dr. Yoo is excellent at what he does and has changed my perspective on dentistry. I walked in expecting pain and received none. Not quite sure what he does but all of my visits there were 98% pain free, I thought that was amazing. But he has a technique that is really working. Never have I been to a dentist in which, I've walked out every single time pain free. Not to mention that I never needed any pain medication after the numbing wears off. I have been going to his office for four months due to the excessive amount of work that needed to be done. He had to pull two teeth and it was pain free as well a couple of root canals. NO PAIN. I've recommended him to a co-worker who has been going to him and has nothing but good things to say about him. He made the entire process very easy for me. The staff is very friendly and his assistant is also very nice and very experienced. The receptionist is very sweet and would always call to remind me of my appointments, not because she had to but due to the fact that I would always forget what day I had to go in. Damn this is long overdue. But first and foremost, Louis is my boy. He's the latino assistant there, and he immediately makes you forget that you're at a dentist office. Dude is chill, helpful, and is more than willing to answer all your questions to help you through the process. Got two wisdom teeth taken out there, and Dr. Yoo and Louis made the experience an amazing one. I had virtually no pain and no swelling. Dr. Yoo is just as cool. Today, I visited Dr. Yoo to get my 2nd implant done. Since it is in front, I was supposed to have a pain when I got a local anesthesia, however, I did not have any pain until the last moment with Dr. Yoo. He is very gentle and calm. I've wanted braces ever since I was in middle school. That must sound weird, who the heck EVER wants braces? But I did for as long as I can remember. My teeth weren't crooked enough to warrant them in my moms eyes, and when she pays the bills, you go along with it. I admit, I did lag it for some time after college. I could've gotten braces several years ago but of course I held it off until a year before my wedding to finally get serious about straight teeth. All because of a panic attack during a daydream. I just knew the photographer would catch me at my worst angles where my snaggletooth would be at its most prominent. Now unless that photographer is a photoshop magician, I would then have to stow those photos away in an attic for years and years and years never to see the light of day. I didn't think twice when it came to who I needed to call. This gem of a practice in Koreatown, on Wilshire Blvd, is run by one of, if not the best dentists I've ever been to. Dr. Yoo's office is clean, professional, and utilizes the most current technology. Along with a friendly personality, great techs (Luis is the man), and affordable care, I'm not sure why anyone in Los Angeles would go anywhere else. I literally kicked a dentist once in the face when I was a kid, and got banned from there forever. Dr. Jason Yoo..... is INCREDIBLE! I got my wisdom teeth pulled out by him. I was sooooo nervous and scared, but he was so informative and really made me feel at ease. He even let me just pull out 1 wisdom tooth that day to ensure me that there wouldnt be any pain. And let me tell you.....there wasnt!! His technique is incredible! I didnt even feel the Needle go in when he numbed me. By the time he pulled out the tooth (which I didnt feel him do) and said , "I'm done" I was like..... "THAT'S IT!!?". I immediately told him to just take out the rest.... haha. Unfortunately he couldn't do that at the time because he was supposed to numb me all at once, But thats how INCREDIBLE and Painless his Technique is! Yeah, still awesome. Great staff, terrific and professional dentist. The only thing that's changed is their office went from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor and somehow that office is even better! Somehow getting a perfect view of Wilshire and the Hollywood sign makes it more comforting while having someone work on your teeth lol Who knew? The majority of the comfort though comes from having a dentist who sees you as a human and genuinely wants to see your grill flourish as opposed to seeing you as dollar signs. Dental health is important and so is being at ease. Especially in the middle of a pandemic. First off, making an appointment was a breeze. Super easy and I was able to find a time that worked with my busy schedule. I came into Hana Dental for a deep cleaning. I arrived a few minutes late for my first visit. They didn't give me a hard time at all, and I only waited for a few minutes before being seen by the dentist. They have very convenient office hours. Other reviews have mentioned the receptionist's rather weak English skills, but she's totally friendly - and when you're saving hundreds of dollars, there is nothing to complain about.
