Our favorite local sushi spot. Great food, friendly people, and a ton of no-rice options for low carb/keto people.

We went for my granddaughter's 20th birthday and it was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was nice and the service was very attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had so many different delicious rolls but don't know which ones were which. We had bluefin sushi, yellowtail sashimi, salmon sushi, crunch roll, dragon roll, orange roll, paul roll, rainbow roll, summer roll and crunch scallop roll. They brought my granddaughter a birthday dessert which was so cute.

It pains me to write this review but this was our experience here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived around 6 pm on a Saturday night, the place was pretty empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted and seated immediately. Menu distributed, drinks ordered. We ordered a few rolls, oysters and saba, markrel, sushi. The first thing that was weird was no explanation of the dish being served. The mackerel had a more fishy taste than usual but we didn't think anything about it. Later that night, my stomach was churning. Gross I know but I spent most of the night in the bathroom. Thinking I had a bug and not food, I was okay with it...... but by morning my daughter was sick and my wife was sick later in the day. 24 hours passed and thankfully everyone was better. It was the fish. We don't plan on returning, to this establishment

Hana Sushi has the best sushi in all of Simi and the surrounding areas. The chefs Jake and Hana are amazing and the staff is always friendly. Try whatever is on the specials board!

A friendly neighborhood kind of vibe exists at Hana Sushi. The staff and patrons tend to greet each other warmly, which is nice to observe. Dear Hubby and I were up for something light, and another nearby restaurant had a wait time, so we decided to give Hana Sushi a try. There was room available at the sushi bar right away. A variety of menu options include sushi rolls or hand rolls that you choose and mark on a paper menu. They also have laminated menus featuring kitchen items like gyoza, teriyaki, and more. To add temptation, they have one of their TV's playing a loop of gorgeous menu items displayed with great photography. The other two TV's above the sushi bar were dedicated to sports - the NBA playoffs and the Dodgers game. No sound, as there was enough going on in ambient conversations around the restaurant. Food wise, we ordered the cucumber salad to share, plus gyoza. I went for a crunch roll, plus tuna roll. Not super adventurous, but it was a large menu. I'd try other options next time. The ingredients were super fresh. I marvel at how thinly they were able to slice the cucumber! DH wanted something hot, so ordered the Beef Teri Don. Sadly, that was a fail. The beef was extremely dense, requiring chewing on it like gum for many minutes before it broke down enough to swallow. The opposite of tender. The sauce was good, and it came with lots of yummy rice, but the texture didn't work for me. That's the main reason for knocking off a star. Overall, nice cozy vibe, welcoming hard-working staff, solid sushi, and reasonable prices available at Hana Sushi.

The sushi was excellent, the service at the sushi bar was not only wonderful but also the sushi chef was hysterical, and the black raspberry wine was absolutely divine! The experience overall was everything that I was hoping for, such a cute little hidden sushi gem right in the heart of Wood Ranch. A quick but super satisfying delicious sushi dinner, right up my sushi-loving alley!!

Service was quick and kind. All chefs were artists and took their time with their work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really enjoyed the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Chirashi bowl was delicious and girlfriend got the sushi combo was excellent. Chunky monkey roll hit fs. Yamachai tea was a great compliment. Good stuff.

Jake was the best! The sushi was delicious! Service is great!! Highly suggest the sea bass!!

Very nice staff. Our order came out quickly. Fish was fresh and plentiful on the rolls. They were all good but just kind of average.

This reservation took a full year to secure and I would gladly wait another year to experience it again. The hardest reservation in Ventura County? Without a doubt. Worth it? YES doesn't even begin to cover it. Dining at Sushi Tanaka is an experience in itself, especially in the presence of a legend like Chef Sei Tanaka. He is warm yet serious, focused yet playful and his dishes speak volumes. Every bite is layered with personality and skill. On the night we came in, my dearest friend Leslie and I had the entire restaurant to ourselves. I can't explain how we had an entire seating to just us but it was magical and intimate. We dinned on 18 courses, each one a surprise more delicious than the last. You just sit back and the chef chooses each bite for you. We've never had octopus so impossibly tender it melted in our mouths. Ice cold sake, warm fish soup, literally I could go on and on about this meal. Choosing favorites feels almost wrong because every course was exceptional, but if forced, the Santa Barbara uni on wagyu, Japanese scallop, Sea bream, and Toro with uni were some of the most impressive and unforgettable bites I've ever had. Never did I imagine that the best sushi I've ever experienced in Ventura County would be found in Simi Valley, but here we are. What an absolute treasure this city holds. I truly hope everyone gets the opportunity to support and experience this extraordinary omakase at least once in their life.

Love Sushi has been an easy solution for the age old question "where to eat" when I'm visiting…read morefriends in Simi. It's centrally located and a large parking lot anchored by a Target and Trader Joe's. Service is always friendly and no rush environment makes lingering over dishes and conversation a breeze. Over the years, especially post C-19, some of the cute touches have disappeared (no more complimentary edamame or fanned out sliced apple w/a dollop of peanut butter and a splash of Hershey chocolate sauce), but the food is still solid and satisfying. This visit we went family style and shared teriyaki chicken, which had a nice char on it and wasn't drowned in sugary sauce, so very nice and a decent portion. The Sexy Mango Roll, with shrimp tempura inside and sushi shrimp & avocado in the top. The Salmon Roll w/spicy tuna & krab inside and Dynamite(served in a bowl, not as a roll). I was most excited about the Dynamite because I try to keep low carb. The baked scallop, shrimp, crab & mushroom w/massago & eel sauce was good, but then the dish took a left turn when what I call "The Birds Eye Medley" was added although it's not a part of the description. I can only imagine the corn, green beans, carrot & peas are filler. It was a turn off. I'm eating at a sushi restaurant, not a Golden Corral. The frozen "medley" aside, everything was good, we had enough to eat and, most importantly, a comfortable booth to sit in and visit for a few hours. Cheers! "CC"

Went earlier this afternoon on the day I'm writing this. Had Bugolgi AP, Chefs Choice #13 (which…read moreincluded 5 of chefs choice with Eel and Avocado roll), and two additional rolls. 1. There was not that many people in the restaurant, maybe our table and no more than 2-3 other tables at the restaurant were taken? The server was polite and due to minimal customers in the restaurant, the service was easily accessible to us as needed (considering the fact that the time was a bit unusual at the time of ordering, so that was probably why customers were at a low). 2. The ambiance was comfortable. They had two tvs in the building in their main dining area, both of which had FIFA playing. This being my second time coming back, the first time I came was back in October, they had sports games on their tv at the time too. If you are a sports fan, may want to consider coming to watch a game 3. Pricing would be the biggest reason why I'd dock my rating. For what you're getting and what's worth the price, they're slightly steep for what you're paying. 4. No bad notes regarding their food. Their bugolgi has a lot of flavor. Their sashimi was really delicious based on chefs choice, and the other rolls were all made with a good balance of flavor and good quality of fish overall
