However, there were several opportunities where it realistically could have happened. The first couple of times, the available tables were assigned to other servers, and it seemed like our waiter simply did not want to transfer us because another server would then take over the table. Later on, he told us twice that he would try to move us, but nothing ever happened. At that point in the evening there were no reservations left, only walk-ins, and all it would have taken was a quick conversation with the hostess asking her not to immediately seat the next guests at the newly available table so we could move there instead. I understand many people celebrate birthdays, and I know restaurants get busy, especially on weekends. But considering we made a reservation and politely asked in advance, it really felt like no effort was made at all.
