I read her review and knew that the shop had some free parking spaces next to the snack/convenience store. One thing that could be improved in the shop is the air-conditioning... I think there was none. Service was very pleasant! The cashier knew Donna when I mentioned her name. Shop keepers usually want to know how you found out about them. Merchandise was plentiful and had much variety. Basic groceries, cookies, candies, chips, etc. were neatly arranged on the shelves. Sanrio character plushies, keychains, and other items were either by the cashier or behind her. I looked at the Sale Items and got the Roasted garlic-flavored peanuts. I love the produce department which features imported produce from Japan. Although pricey the quality and taste are Top Notch. Local produce is fresh and vibrant. New Hong Kong Market in Chinatown is my go-to place for frozen buns (bao). The last row against the…read morewall, has all the freezers and they are stocked with different brands of frozen buns, shrimp dumplings, soup dumpling (xiao long bao) and glutinous rice balls (tong yuan). They have the cleanest freezers because they don't post their price tags all over the glass. They have the salted egg yolk custard buns here and they're $6 for 12 pieces. All the frozen buns in the baby blue colored package are good. The buns are moist and soft when you steam them at home. If you're looking for Asian sauces, dried noodles, Asian canned goods, or authentic snacks, you will also find those here. The aisles are tight, and each shelf is filled with merchandise. If you can't find something, ask the person sitting at the register and they will let you know if they have it and which aisle. The owners speak Mandarin and a little bit of English but if you show them a photo of the product on your phone, they'll be able to help you out. Whenever I shop in Chinatown, I park in the Marin Tower parking. The parking structure is well lit, and they have reasonable rates. It's only a few minutes walk to New Hong Kong Market.

On the negative side, one of the main reasons I came today was due to the Tuesday special ad items. They unfortunately didn't have one of the items I specifically came for, and after one of the floor clerks checked in the back for me, he said because they "share" these items with Times Market, they often don't receive any; which I think is terrible. It's not the first time, this has occurred, and it's very annoying, and I hope they remedy the situation for more fair and equitable allocation, so it doesn't feel like a "bait and switch" type of situation (I know it's not, but still, very frustrating).
