Lunch Set B. Nigiri Sushi, Sashimi, & Assorted Tempura

I've been coming to Hanamk Sushi for over 15 years. The food here is good. Really good. There is fresh sushi and sashimi. Service is good and quick. On the last visit here, I got the three choice meal - tempura, nigiri sushi and sashimi. I enjoyed all of it Tasty food and a treat on the eyes as there are so many colors in the meal! My only downfall of this recently meal experience was the smell inside the restaurant. There was a heavy grease smell in the restaurant and my table mate and I went back to work smelling like grease. Wondering if it was only a problem that day? Never experienced it before and will still continue to patronize this restaurant because of its good food!

Hand roll on special. I will think about this for a long time - so good!

This place had fantastic, fresh, and innovative sushi! I am shocked that it's not rated more highly and felt compelled to share my experience. I had a solo dinner at the sushi bar one evening while traveling for work. I tried a few things and they were all incredible and very fresh, but the hand roll on special was a standout selection! Service was attentive, fast and all staff were incredibly respectful and kind. There are other more hyped sushi places in the area, but this will be my new go-to. Fantastic! Kicking myself for not trying this place sooner.

I'm not sure why this place has a low rating. The food is fireeeee. I usually get the crispy rice with tuna #2 with ponzu & extra jalapenos on the side, truffle edamame, salmon teriyaki, or chilean sea bass. Friendly service as well

I stopped by Hanami Sushi for the lunch the other day and I will be stopping by again. The lunch special is a great value and the food was awesome! You choose three items from a list of 6 options for only $22. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared by the staff. On top of that our waitress was friendly and took our order as soon as we were ready to order. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant definitely fit a Japanese style place. Hanami is definitely going to be a go to stop in Calabasas for myself!

Had a late lunch break and stopped in. I was quickly greeted and seated. Service was attentive and quick. I got the black cod and uni sushi and both were phenomenal! Seemed relatively busy, and even tho it was a quick bite, multiple staff were here to cater to me, felt very exceptional!

Very cute and delicious sushi spot hidden away in Calabasas/Agoura area. My boyfriend absolutely loves the Toro Toro roll - I would recommend for Toro lovers. Staff is very kind and the owner always greets us and thanks us for visiting (very nice gentleman!) We love Hanami and have celebrated many events here.

It is my husband's birthday and he chose a place that we used to frequent when we lived in Calabasas. We now live in Thousand Oaks. We haven't been here since Covid 19. The decor has been upgraded and it's beautiful. The food is still the best sushi, since we moved here from upstate New York. Our server was wonderful. The experience reminded us that we need to make this a habit again...

This place is amazing my husband loves the baked muscle I'm a plane girl but I tried a lot this and everything was amazing but this is my plate I would just pick on my husbands stuff to try it and I love it the people there are amazing

I actually showed up on a Friday afternoon just before 5 pm around 4:45 and put my name down. Around 4:55 there was easily 15-20 people outside the door who had been on the waitlist. We all fit into the first seating at 5 so no sweat there. There was even an open seat next to me that was filled by a drop in a few min after opening. The sushi- so.freaking.good. I love how generous they are with the portions and it was seriously tasty. The bluefin tuna + caviar was to die. I'm not even a sashimi person but I saw this and was like I want THAT. I had one and then immediately asked for a second one! The spicy tuna rices cakes were awesome, there was so much spicy tuna mix on it that it nearly broke my rice cake after the first bite. Then the Shibuya sea bass roll-YUM. Look at that stack on the roll. As crowded as it was, the service was excellent. My only regret is getting full. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu!

Charming place, tiny but with efficient and experienced service so everything comes out fast. Huge rolls and nigiri. Doesn't feel as expensive because of the generous cuts of fish. Everything is tasty and I end up ordering more than I should given the large portions but no complaints. Sweet shrimp is exceptional as well as their crispy rice. The stuffed squid was good but I would ask for the eel sauce on the side because the crab mix is also sweet, so the sweetness can be overpowering. I don't recommend the ikura bc of the heavy sake marinade but you may feel differently. The ikura has been the one and only item I wouldn't get again. Everything else has been fantastic. This is an entirely different experience to sugarfish. Shibuya is willing to make dishes to your taste, so if you don't want something on a particular dish or you want a special dish not on the menu, just tell your server. Everything can be customized which I really like. Sugarfish by comparison is extremely simple and utilitarian and has a factory quality to it that Shibuya is the complete opposite to. They really shouldn't be compared. If I'm low on time and didn't plan well enough, sugarfish is a reliable spot to get adequate sushi without the preplanning and waiting, but shibuya is a superior experience, imho. Happy eating!

Having been to the studio city location and enjoying, it's no contest in terms of parking ease (just $7 valet, so $10 LOL) diverse, creative menu items, roominess (at least twice the size here), still a few open tables at all times to enjoy without super cramped environment and just generally blew the doors off pretty much any other sushi joint near or far. Started with the Exclusive menu...not to me (I wish) but a smaller paper menu with specials. The FatherKels Roll, my goodness, what a start. (Weird name comes from, as my son told me, some Instagram chick or something, the usual nonsense.) I couldn't care less if it was named the Long Island Lolita Roll, it was literally the pinnacle of rolls, the Mt Everest if you will of rolls. Then ordered a bunch of rolls from Yellowtail Cilantro, Green Dragon, Citrus, were all one better than the other. Super melt-in-your-mouth, good fish ratio, immaculate sauce parings and fusions harmoniously dancing in your mouth as your tastebuds get orgasmisized to oblivion. You'd think something as simple as a mushroom soup wouldn't warrant any praise...NOT HERE. What a soup, one of the best I've ever had. (Please get this). Everything we tried ranged from A to A+, and the bonus kicker, they have a Yuzu, yes YUZU sauce bottle on the table. Good luck finding that anywhere in the country without begging for it like a little bitch HAHAHAAAA Even the wasabi was so fresh and course ground, I mean just every box was checked and boxes you didn't even know ever existed. Gil, a slick cool dude/manager came to ask how our meal was and complimented our family and ordering taste, nice touch. Needless to say, one and never done; will be hard-pressed to eat sushi anywhere else again...yes I'm not joking. It's not cheap, blew 90 bucks a person all-in but worth every dollar plus interest.

The fish was fresh, meaty and nicely cooked, with a juicy interior and a very flavorful crust. The potatoes also had good flavor, but I found the mac & cheese to be wanting -- a bit too much like the packaged variety. However, my wife really liked it, so what do I know?! For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Louie Salad, a very generously portioned bowl of greens and assorted chopped veggies plus avocado, onion, hard boiled eggs and cool, poached shrimp, all topped with a Louie dressing. Chef Jae guides you through a thoughtfully crafted $190 18 course "Taste Forest" that's sure to delight. When my husband and I showed up at the neighboring lounge (which does not open before the first Omakase dining slot at 5:30 pm), we weren't quite sure what to expect. When we told them we were there for the Omakase dinner at 5:30 pm, the staff kindly let us in out of the heat while they continued to prepare the space for service in both the lounge and restaurant. They don't have a liquor license so all cocktails are sake-based, but none the less enjoyable. They also offer beer and wine. We were offered a menu while we waited, and yes - any drink you purchase in the lounge may accompany you to your dining experience. You can also add on a sake-pairing to your omakase meal for $55 each. We very much enjoyed a Yuzu Cocktail and the sake pairing. The customer service was fantastic, personable, and filled with intention - but if I were to provide constructive criticism - somewhat clumsy on the delivery. Chef Jae had everyone introduce themselves and included a Chef mentee on finishing up the plating of the sushi. Chef Jae is talkative and clearly enjoys speaking with guests - this all lends itself to the homey feel of the experience - but some staff were so soft-spoken it was difficult to hear them as they introduced our sake pairings, and sometimes the service seemed poorly timed with the courses. I think with a little rehearsal of how they want to approach dinner service (mainly timing, introduction and flow) would provide some more confidence and better execution of the experience they clearly wished to impart. The food was fantastic, and truly felt like a journey. Everything is prepared in house, and of the best quality. My husband and I are sure to be thinking about our experience here for a long time, and will be recommending others to come check it out. Note: If an omakase experience is not in your budget, they also offer ala carte items.
