I like coming here because I know I get GOOD quality nails. I normally get pedicures, full acrylic sets or ...Gel X? Builder gel? Idk but this is the only salon I go to for sets. I never have to worry about them hurting or cutting me, or leaving rough edges. And now, they are REALLY stepping it up in their designs. I found this design on Pinterest, showed ANA, and gave her artistic freedom. Best set I've ever had! I love the 3D feel. It appeals to my adhd. There are flowers, a snake, and water droplets. The staff were so warm and friendly. I have always wanted to stop by and could not be happier that I did! My previous set from another salon started to chip and lift at the edges, so I was hoping to get a little clean up. I had to find a new nail salon because my beloved nail tech moved. I came here and I am so happy to have found this place. I have had my nails done by both Karina and Lena and they were both fantastic! I can't remember the name of the woman who did my pedi but she was great too. They are accommodating, friendly and good at what they do. Parking can be tricky because the village is busy a lot but I just give myself an extra few minutes. Love this place!!! read more

Always friendly, attentive nail technicians. I truly enjoy their company, and hope they do mine, as well. The space is pretty and calming and very clean. No noisy televisions or people talking on their cell phones. The technicians take their time and always give me wonderful gel manicures and regular pedicures. The prices are good for the great service you receive. The only negative is that my gel manicures don't last as long as they used to. I'm wondering if the formula has changed. Took my 11 year old daughter to get her nails done. We used to go here at least once a month but we stopped going because the prices just seemed a bit high. We decided to try it out again and while we appreciated them taking us in without a reservation, we ended up thoroughly disappointed once again. $90 for her nails, it took two hours and a week later, the gel x nails started falling off. My friend and I got gel x extensions and while we are happy with results but some things could be improved. When we asked for our nails to be cut shorter, our techs scoffed at us. I felt judged by asking for shorter so I didn't ask for any further but that reaction was odd to me. I didn't feel comfortable with the length but just settled. After leaving the salon, we noticed underneath our nails, they didn't do a good job cleaning up the bonding gel. My friend returned and got hers cleaned up, but unfortunately there was no apology for the inconvenience on their end. I would recommend thoroughly checking your nails before leaving and also asking up front the cost of the service because they do not have a menu. Only for pedicures. read more

I definitely needed to get my nails done and it was a great reason to meet up with a friend. She's the one that actually recommended this place due to location and service, and I was happy with the end result! Located in downtown Claremont, the area can get very busy on weekends. Parking can be difficult at peak hours, but doable if it's before 11am. For Hands Down Too, my friend actually put in a reservation for us, as it sounds like they get busy on weekends (not surprising). We were able to be promptly seated, and had two people that would work on us the entire time (one person for pedicure, one person for manicure). The two ladies that assisted me were amazing. Very professional, so nice and accommodating to make sure I was comfortable, everything was super clean, extreme precision on what they were doing. And, agh, their massages for the feet and hands were the best I've ever had. Nearly fell asleep multiple times. My friend mentioned of a newish product called Dazzle Dry, that's meant to be not as chemical-y, dries faster, and similar sheen to gel. But, we had also heard that Dazzle Dry just doesn't last as long. I was curious and I ended up going for gel for the pedicure, and Dazzle Dry for the manicure. One month later, I can say that the gel from the pedicure holds up very nicely. Unfortunately, the Dazzle Dry was already bubbling and cracking a few hours after we left, and it looks pretty awful after a month (lol, my hubby cringes when he sees my nails now). Anyways, the Dazzle Dry is not Hands Down Too's fault, but the actual Dazzle Dry product. I'm not mad about it because I purposely wanted to test it out, AND, it gives me an excuse to get a manicure sooner than normal. Lesson learned: will stick with gel. Will come back! read more

Honestly take your business elsewhere. I have tried this place multiple times since I live closeby however, I have never walked out fully satisfied. French manicure was overpriced and so poorly done I had to go in and have the standoffish owner fix it the next day. Recently went back in to have gel x tips removed and a regular polish manicure. Paid around $50 (the prices don't ever feel consistent) and some bonding was still left on a few nails. I'm still growing out the rings of fire I was left with after this manicure. This place has a lot of room for improvement and it's unfortunate because it's in such a convenient location. read more

Second time here. First time I was overpriced as soon as I told them that I wasn't a student. The second time I was charged $30 less for the same service. My nail color near the cuticles was painted crooked and left lifted. My pedicure comes out great but won't recommend for hand nails. Update: they fixed the nails but two nails peeled the following day . I will go back today. read more

I walked in stood there like 5 minutes until someone asked me what I needed, and I told them I was looking for Linda very rudely they answered that she was no longer there. I asked if anyone else could help me and they totally ignored me. It's very unfortunate that they treat their customers like that the owner is such a beautiful lady but always looks mad, maybe if she smiled once in a while her employees would too. read more

My nail tech was very friendly and did a great job on my all white pedicure. Unlike other salons that rush through your pedicures, she took her time and did each step meticulously. The leg/foot massage she gave was so relaxing! She didn't force me into awkward small talk (which has happened to me before at other salons) but she did make funny comments here and there about me being ticklish which made me warm up to her. I really felt like I got my money's worth here. (Bonus: my phone was almost dead when I arrived and so I asked one of the workers if there was a charger I could borrow. They let me use their charger and plugged it up right at my pedicure station so I could use it while I received services! That was so nice of them!) read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. This place has rude employees and absolutely does not appreciate their customers. I came in for a pedicure and the service was alright. However, it got messed up 3 hours later and I went back to get it fixed and even offered to pay. And the younger women with glasses laughed and said 3 hours it dry? Parking might be a little hectic since it's a busy little street with restaurants and shops on the weekend. I just get a plain mani pedi but she takes her time and is always so kind. I had been wanting to check out Hands Down Too for a while, until finally I got the chance to do so with one of my friends a couple of months ago, when a friend booked herself a mani/pedi appointment, and booked me a pedi. My negative experience started when I got there. The people working were all wearing masks, except for the person who manages/owns the place. That's fine, as I know that masks are no longer mandatory, but I asked the person who wasn't wearing a mask if she could please wear one, if she was going to work on me. She got my water ready and told me she wouldn't because they're not required. My friend tried to explain to her that she is immunocompromised, and that we would really appreciate it if she did wear a mask. She gave an attitude and walked away saying that she wasn't going to be the one working on me anyway. I decided to stay because the other workers had already started working on my friend. That experience then got worse when it came to the price of my pedi. I was being charged $40, when I asked for the base one that doesn't have extras. The same lady who gave me the attitude then got involved and told me that i needed to have asked specifically for an express one. How was I supposed to know that when they never showed us a menu? I am fine with whatever price the business decides to set, as long as they're transparent, but this was not okay. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is that the lady who actually worked on my pedi was really nice, and she did a good job. I feel badly for the workers if they have to deal with dissatisfied customers due to the lack of transparency. I don't like to write negative reviews, and I hope they fix their customer service. :/ read more

Terrible terrible service. I went last week, called ahead and asked for a manicure and a pedicure to which I was told they could see me right away if I was there within 30 mins. I live 5 mins away and there within 10 mins. When I arrived they started on my pedicure and a lady came over to set me up for manicure. After about 5 minutes of filing my nails she stops and tells me she has to go do someone else's nails. Ok, whatever. I understand. Well my entire pedicure comes and goes and no one starts on my manicure. I wait 15 mins after my toes are done and no one in sight. I ask the lady who did my pedicure she said she doesn't know. So I grab my stuff to get up and pay. Then a lady comes rushing over saying we will start soon. Too late. I was annoyed but moved on quickly. Was nice to them just stating I wanted at the same time. I come back today to get said manicure and walk in and am rudely ignored in the front door. A lady looks at me and I ask if there is time for a manicure. She completely ignores me. I looked around amongst the 10+ employees and no one checks in. I wait a few minutes and the lady who I believe is the one in charge, asks what I would like. When I tell her she says we are full. I ask if there is a time to come back and I'm simply told no. I will take my business elsewhere. Would recommend you do the same. There is so much competition, they need to learn some customer service. read more

My daughter has had to return multiple times within the last few months to have her nails redone, fixed, or replaced. One week she came in for a fill and design that cost $80 only to return after chips and broken nails a week later; then charged another $60! Cheap product and workmanship and yes, she called and they've offered to fix or replace- but not for a discount -unless you consider $60 a discount! We have not lived in the area long term, and even people who have lived here for years and used to frequent this place, have said to now stay away. read more

The worst pedicure experience I've ever had. She literally only massaged and scrubbed my right foot. The massage consisted of a hand rub over my right shin for couple minutes. I had a 3 minute phone call and she had put on and taken off the paraffin wax in that time. When I walked in I had to tell every person that walked by what service I wanted. Then when I told them I wanted the combo it seemed as if no one knew what I was talking about. As far as "cleaning" my toe nails, it was just a scalpel over my nail and boom. They made me take off my jacket for my manicure and they dunked it into the water. They also covered it in paraffin wax and lotion. They scrubbed my toes with a communal brush which was so dirty. Theresa can do your nails just as you'd wish. She used acrylic tips and SNS dip to help me pull of a Pinterest idea. She even picked out the colors.
