Last night we came here for dinner to celebrate a Dear Friend's birthday, and I have to say the service we received from Ariana was fantastic! Attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. She truly made us feel as if we were the most valued guest. She had that night. Watching her with others, she treated them the same as she treated us. The food I will say was good, very much enjoyed the pierogi the hamburger had good flavor and the fries well, very bad for you, but they tasted so good. Well for starters this does not reflect on our server she was great however she got caught in an unfortunate position (the middle). First we've been to this place a couple of times but have not been here since they changed ownership, so we thought we'd give it a shot. The app was great the charcuterie (small) was enough for 2. Now about dinner my wife ordered the hanger steak and I the "Hanger" burger $24 the burger was ok, nothing to rave about, I've had better burgers at Culver's. The Hanger Steak was RAW!!!!! My wife took one or two bites and it was uneatable. When brought to the servers attention, I had already finished my meal. So she took my wife's plate with her apology. So my wife just ordered a desert. We asked that the plate be taken off the bill. Our server came back and said that since she took a bite they were willing to take 50% off the hanger steak. In my opinion 2 things were WRONG here 1: The plate should've been removed 100% 2: If you're going to pull this kind of crap the manager should've came to the table to explain you don't send an innocent server to avoid a complaint. The manager finally came to the table. His words exactly were "I spoke to the chef and he's only willing to take 50% off the plate". I of course said it was unacceptable but I could see this manager was not a leader but a follower and that the chef was running things I did however explain to him if you're going to be in charge than be in charge and don't be a token. We of course will never eat there again it is over priced for what they provide and just on principle alone. Things are to expensive these days for everyone and I'm tired of wasting money on a poor product. read more

I would give this place more stars if I could. Six of us went to dinner last night. What a sweet spot no one talks about. They have a new, young chef Christian! What a talented and amazing young man. He came to our table and shook our hands and thanked us for coming. Food was 10/10. Desserts were 10/10 with a wonderful presentation. Ask for a seat by the window as you get a beautiful view of the runways. Christian is rolling out his brunch menu in a few weeks. We will definitely be back. Run, don't walk to this great spot. Worth the Trip Just for the Cheese Board If you're thinking about stopping by Hangar One, I have written out an exact game plan: 1. Go to Hangar One. Just make the trip. It's worth going even if you only plan to get one thing. 2. Order the cheese and charcuterie board-- Get the small for about $20. No need to get the large; the small is the perfect size and the real highlight of the menu. 3. Enjoy the view of the airplanes. The scenery alone makes it worth being there. My husband and I tried Hangar One Bistro on Saturday evening for an early dinner prior to a show in St Augustine. The decor is wonderful. It is a relaxed, fine dining experience. The 2nd story view of the air field is cool. You can see the planes parked and/or taking off or landing. There is an elevator or stairs. The bathroom is handicapped accessible. Very clean. The service was impeccable. The menu is a mix of traditional American and Polish. I had the potato pancakes and stew, which was very very good. My husband had the ribeye. The presentation of this dish knocked our socks off. All I can say is, this was the most unique way a meal was served that I have ever seen. It was quite delicious. We went for my birthday dinner. Never been before and I was excited to see Polish food on the menu. Restaurant is located at the St Augustine airport. No window seats left when we arrived ( we did have a reservation). We were crammed in a very crowded room that was loud enough to hear several conversations around us. My fault I should have asked to be seated away from the windows where it was less crowded. Drinks were great and our server was wonderful. Pierogi for appetizer was delicious! We had the potato and cheese. For our meals my husband ordered the grouper. It was fantastic! Served with mushroom risotto and a pistachio cilantro sauce. I had the potato pancakes with beef stew. It was just ok. Too much going on and it was a mushy mess. Wish I could have tasted the flavor of the potato pancakes but they were lost. Finally as we were leaving we noticed 2 children sitting at the bar. This is unacceptable for my husband and I. Very inappropriate for the parent to seat them there and the bar for allowing it. My girlfriend and I went for her birthday, and we were blown away!!! We were sat along the windows with a gorgeous view of the planes and the runway. Our server, Liam, was very kind and helped with selecting our meal choices! He was efficient with removing plates, keeping our table clean, and refilling our water. We started with the bottle of Prosecco and multiple juices. It was a great start to our brunch! We split the crab cakes and the chicken flatbread. WOW, the flatbread was a generous portion! It was packed with flavor in the crushed red pepper pesto and the chicken. Absolutely fantastic! The crab cakes were also delicious and we loved the flavor! Food was great, went on a Saturday evening without reservations, had to sit at the bar and enjoyed our bartender/server's history lesson and happy hour bargains. Hangar One has the potential to be a great venue; however, the plethora of dead and dying plants makes eating there uncomfortable. If they are going to leave these dead plants hanging over the table, how clean is the kitchen? Not only are they eyesores, but there is no reason for their being. They only detract from what could be a nice dining experience. Food was ok. Service was good. I hope management realizes they are killing a golden goose by leaving these plants in full view. read more

Another awesome visit to the Hanger One Bistro. It seems they've added some Polish recipes to their menu. Tonight I ordered the stuffed cabbage rolls. Holy freaking moly! These are the best cabbage rolls I've ever eaten in my entire life! The stuffing was nice and tender, and the sauce was incredible. Plus these things were enormous. I could only eat half my meal, but you can bet I brought home the rest. Hubby ordered the potato dumplings with beef stew. He said it was good, but he wished there was more stew because the ratio of dumplings to stew was a lot a little off for him. Our server, Pavo, did a great job as well. This place was very cute. Overlooking the St. Augustine airport runway, we thought it would be fun to see planes taking off and landing as we ate dinner. The menu had a nice variety with appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, airport-themed cocktails, and desserts. We started with the charcuterie board which was very nicely laid out. In addition to cheeses and meats, they had nuts, bread, and a fresh and dried fruit. One thing I noticed was that all the cheeses were hard. It would've been nice to have had a soft cheese to spread on the bread. Also, the walnuts tasted burnt. Our entrees were great. The steak sandwich had very tender, thinly sliced steak that was seasoned, and the appetizer salad had a sizable portion of salmon with three shrimp. The kids chicken tenders and fries was a large serving and very reasonably priced. Service here was good and the view was excellent. The food was mediocre at best. The pirogis were soggy, not crisp. The duck was not prepared according to my instructions. The "pancake" meal looked like slop. I'd been wanting to try this place and when I saw that they served my favorite wine, that sealed the deal. Well, not only did they not have this wine in stock, the only white wine was some off brand called "Dog" something. Staff was nice. Space was unique and well designed. We have live in the area for several years and have heard good things about this restaurant. We had heard it was expensive but comparing to prices in the neighborhood, it is very competitive. We came here tonight and the restaurant lived up to its good reviews. We ordered the mussels in white wine which were plump and had a good garlicky winey sauce. For dinner we ordered the potato pancake & beef stew dinner and the rabbit poutine (special of the evening). Both meal were delicious and I would definitely order again. We spoke to the owner, Anna and were told about the Tuesday half priced appetizers and Wednesday 1/2 priced wine nights. What a deal. I made a reservation online and arrived 15 min early. The restaurant was completely empty. I asked the host if we could be provided with a highchair and an additional chair for my child so we could be seated by the windows as planned to watch the runway. The staff expressed concern about potential noise level "for other customers" and to sit in the center of the restaurant instead (Despite the restaurant being literally empty). FYI, this is a big burger! it comes with lots of fries too. * I had some of the crawfish & shrimp sliders (they're more like bruschetta not mini burgers). not my favourite but I'm also not a fan of crawfish * The ghost flower cocktail was delicious and not too sweet. asked for less alcohol and loved it! Went in a rainy Sunday and when we arrived we entered in the first floor and took the elevator upstairs to this lovely aviation styled bistro. We were a little early for our reservation so sat at the bar with a friendly Pawvo. I had a dirty martini w/blue cheese olives it was perfect. Hubby had an old fashioned which also god. We were seated by a window so we could see the planes coming in going as the runway was right in front of the floor to ceiling window. All the apps sounds so good so we went with several of those. We had 6 parmesan oyster and the bread which had a lovely flavors butter and dipping spices. Enjoyed them but would have liked some hot sauce in them. We had the steak skillet which came with bread and lovely spreads. We shared an avocado salad which was tangy and delightful. Our server Donna was kind and attentive. We ate here for the first time after living close by since its opening, and I'm so sad we haven't tried it sooner! The atmosphere is very cute and made for a great date night. We sat right next to a window where we got a perfect view of planes boarding. My husband and I started with the potato and cheese pierogis. You get six in one order and they're huge! A little softer than what we're used to (my in-laws homemake pierogis for holidays - perfection) but the flavor was good and they were very filling. We then split the rabbit pappardelle - yum! This dish was massive even after we had it split into two bowls, so it was well worth the $35 price. I couldn't finish mine, as much as I wanted to. The flavors themselves didn't blow me away, but it was a solid dinner and I have no complaints. We ended with the creme brûlée with we thought had bananas in it, but it was tonka beans. Delish! Personally, I felt this one was slightly overpriced, but maybe the tonka beans made it more expensive. Not a bad dessert at all, just a lot of money ($12) for a small-ish dessert. Finally, we enjoyed our drinks very much. I just stuck with the happy hour Cabernet, but my husband tried two happy hour mixed drinks (can't remember exactly what they were, but I want to say a rum drink and then a margarita). He thoroughly enjoyed both and liked that their happy hour stretched to 7 p.m. All in all, the food was 4/5 and the atmosphere was 5/5. We will definitely be going back very soon! read more
