As usual the San Pedro Fish Market in Long Beach did not disappoint. From the fresh fish to it's always tasty sides it was another 10 out of 10 experience. Now the staff has always been courteous and super friendly and also very attentive, but on this trip, it was all that and more. Went to San Pedro Fish today in Long Beach. Service was OK. It was a little hard to get a hold of our server even though it wasn't that busy. I got the fish and chips. They were pretty standard, but the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were really good. My dad got the shrimp plate and enjoyed it, and I liked that you can choose different seasonings like butter garlic, Cajun, or Diablo. My mom got the whole fried tilapia, which was probably the best value on the menu. It comes with a lot of potatoes, and next time I'd just order that and share it. My sister got the Cajun salmon. The fish was fresh, but the seasoning was pretty bland, and it came out cold, which was disappointing. The outdoor seating was really nice with views of the boats in the harbor, and they also have upstairs seating and indoor seating with AC. Overall, I'd come back, but I'd recommend ordering a few dishes to share instead of everyone getting their own plate. Their big seafood platter is probably the best bang for your buck. This review is pretty much exclusive to our server Carlos and an older employee who was regularly checking on us, everyone else, not really. If I could review individual people , Carlos and that person would get 5 stars. I walked into the place 2 hours before closing and I got stared at by two employees like I had just punched someone , it was wild. Like two high school bullies that disliked you simply for existing. I felt like they were about throw me into a toilet or something. We got past that and were eventually seated outside and that was my decision. I ended up not really liking it , the table was a bit wobbly and it was warmer outside than I had anticipated. So, I asked very nicely and considerately if I could be moved somewhere else, and the server looked at me like I had just asked him to flip the entire continent upside-down . He then looked around and found me a spot. During that , a new person came to me and asked me in a very pissy tone, sorry dude, I'm not in the mood to sweat while I tear up this fish. Younger guy , reddish hair. I find my new seat and proceed to be abandoned for 35 minutes. I had ordered my drinks at the old table and it was as if I was being reprimanded for making a request. My older server just left and began washing cups at the bar, and keep in mind he made the switch, so he knows where I am. He's super accommodating to everyone else, but because I asked to be moved, I just stopped existing, it was insane, he wouldn't even make eye contact with me . Millennial dude , hair spiked up. Finally comes in Carlos, who noticed that I was left on the side of the road who asked if I had been help and to which I responded , not really, because I did have my drink order taken , but no food, which he quickly handled. Apparently my drinks just grew legs and walked into the ether, so Carlos reordered them for me along with my food. Following that it was all uphill , the food was great and Carlos really saved the night for me. If I had come in 30 minutes before closing , I'd be mad as well, but it was 2 hours, get a grip dawg. Overall a fairly passive-aggressive atmosphere , with the exception of Carlos and the aforementioned employee. Those two are lighthouses in a sea of angst. Steep prices but I suppose the views and vibe are worth it. Food: tasty except for the coleslaw. We got the captains tray but didn't want everything fried. Our server recommended we do one thing à la plancha style (grilled on flat top), which is a great recc. Comes with bread, fries and coleslaw. Slaw was tasteless :/ Service: excellent. Xavier was out server. Prices: $65 for a tray of fried food seems steep and Micheladas were $13. Vibes: lots of light and seating with marina views. Patio has wind shields so it's comfortable. A group sharing the trays and having drinks seems more of the vibe, but we will come back to try the meals. TVs with sports and a bar inside. Their why not Wednesday deal was great! It's an extension of taco Tuesday and we got two taco trios. Great portion size! The thing that sucked was their table and all the menus were super sticky. Disappointing. We were acknowledged far better by the host than by our server Dusty. We had a family dinner of 12 people. We did not receive good service. But they charge 18% TIP for groups of 8 or more. The server Dusty started taking our orders and we inquired about splitting the bill for 3 checks. Dusty mumbles something like "[Would've been nice to do that first]". Yes Dusty. You're correct. It would definitely have made sense if you simply asked the party of 12 if you needed to split the bill. Aside from an uncomfortable start the food was pretty good..for 6 of us. The other half of our group was sitting with no food while the other half was finished with their meals. I had the Baja tacos, garlic bread, and a margarita. The tacos and garlic bread were yummy and a great price. We were expecting higher menu prices. But half our family wasn't served until I only had one slice of garlic bread left! My husband was looking for our server and I hadn't even noticed they were sitting there sad and hungry. So horrible to leave half a group empty handed for so long. At the end of the meal I asked Dusty if he wouldn't mind taking a group photo. Our family was seeing each other first time in 20 years. It was special. Dusty said he would but when I passed him my phone he ignored it and busied himself with collecting our money. Then left. Never returned. We sat for 15-20 minutes waiting for him to return but nope.so we left. He never even offered dessert. And I would've said Yasssss! It was so weird. Had an overall great time at the SPFM - LB location. Reservation on a late April Saturday was no problem using OpenTable. The desired 12:30pm time slot was available when I booked a week ahead. The app checked to see that I still wanted the slot the day before and again an hour before. It looked like I didn't need the reservation as there was plenty of seating when my party of 4 arrived, but it was a good thing to request for outdoor because we have 2 canines as well. This was our first time at a SPFM and I want to say that the food was phenomenal. We ordered the world's famous shrimp plate, captain's tray and a side order of sausage and corn. This was more than enough food for 4 hungry people. The a la plancha sear was so flavorful; it was not too salty and oh so buttery. The outdoor seating was great. At the time we had our meal, it wasn't too loud and it had the right amount of sun. (When deciding between the San Pedro and LB location, I opted for LB because I had heard that there was shade available on their patio.) Had a great dinner at San Pedro Fish Market! My husband and I walked in on a Saturday around 6pm and we were sat right away. They even sat us by the window so we had a view of the Marina/sunset. We were just having a casual dinner so we shared a bowl of the clam chowder and a whole fried tilapia. This was enough to fill us both! The chowder was a good consistency, not too thick or watery and served with oyster crackers. The tilapia was big! You can get it fried or grilled and add sauces. We chose to mix the Cajun and garlic sauce, such a good combo! We asked for the diablo sauce on the side, which had a good kick to it. The fish comes with veggies underneath that are mixed in the sauce (bell pepper, onion, and potato). Our waiter was also super nice even though it was just us 2 and we only ordered those 2 things. I absolutely love the San Pedro Fish Market. I have been here a handful of times and always suggest it to other shrimp lovers. I made a reservation for Mother's Day and I was super happy to see that they actually read my request for outdoor seating and made it happen. We had a little hiccup where they forgot to assign our table a waiter but after that it was smooth sailing. The location is great. The restaurant is right next to the water with all the boats in view. The staff is friendly. The food is delicious. My go to is the Shrimp Tray with corn, sausage, and potatoes. So my little one and I came here on a Friday night during Lent and this place was poppin! We got here just before a rush around 5:30 and thought that that was the perfect time. There were folks seated in all areas but not enough to feel crowded. We asked to sit close to the window while we ate so that we can look at the boats and watch the sun go down but they had said that spots were for the folks who made reservations. Not a big deal, we still got to see the sunset and boats from the next table over. My little one ordered the chicken tenders and it came with fries, apples and a drink. She loved that and it was just the right amount of food for her. My eyes were definitely the ones eating today lol. I ordered the shrimp plate which is the smaller version of the tray and I added a whole fried tilapia. I had the option of having the fish grilled or fried and I opted for fried. That fish, I tell ya, was cooked beautifully! For both the shrimp and the fish I chose both the regular seasoning and the garlic butter and thought that was the perfect combination. I did try their bottled house salsa and that was pretty darn good to add on top too. There was a nice portion of potatoes and shrimp and a whole lot of onions. Wish there were more bell peppers and other veggies too but not a big deal. With the shrimp plate you get a 4 in top and bottom slice of garlic bread and that wasn't enough so I ordered a whole footlong of it. Would definitely come back again to try other things on the menu! Either this place is mismanaged or they are financially doing bad. Came on Saturday Memorial Day weekend. Hostess said 35 minute wait. I walk in and it's 2/3 empty. I asked why the wait and they said they have reservations and don't want to bombard the servers. I can understand that but it's 2/3 empty. So if it's was lots of reservations, get us in and out before others come. I've sat here writing this for 30 minutes and it's still empty. So it's either mismanaged or they can afford more servers. Management needs to reevaluate how they run this place as the lease is expensive and if customers are dissatisfied before even sitting down then that can't be good for repeat business. Met up here for dinner with the fam on a Sunday night! It wasn't too crowded but I'm glad we made reservations. I'm also so grateful there is a free parking lot. The view was spectacular. We arrived just in time to catch the sunset and it was gorgeous. I got the whitefish plate with zucchini and fries and my husband split the captains tray. This was huge, I definitely don't recommend it unless you are REALLY hungry (which he was). I did appreciate the big portions though. My plate came with two filets. Our only disappointment was trying to order two beers only to be told they weren't serving them anymore (the Kona Big Wave and the 805). The shrimp was good and there was plenty. Calamari pieces were soft and plentiful as well. Mussels are usually my favorite but the texture on these was almost mushy and I didn't enjoy them. The best thing was the fried whole tilapia, crispy skin and soft meat. The white fish and corn on the cob was enjoyable too. The thing I would not get again is the lobster. It was tough and ours had a lot of roe which I am not a fan of. Overall, it was good enough quality food and great views to come back. Popped in twice in the last week. Both times at Happy Hour which for the winter season runs 3pm-closing. Friday our bartender was Jeff who made very good Old Fashioned and guided us to the Ceviche Tostadas. Excellent. Fresh fish with a light salsa on crisp tostadas. Our second pop in was a Tuesday night after a movie at Marina Pacifica (short walk over but there's plenty of parking in the lot at SPFM. Tonight Brandon poured some good Old Fashioneds as well. We checked out the Chowda fries - crisp and with a light chowder sauce on them. We did 3 tacos (a Tuesday & Wednesday special:3 for $12.99 and you can mix and match). Two fish one and one pork belly. I came here with a friend around 8 PM for a dinner after a hydro-bike ride in the bay. It's located right on the water and there was no wait at all. We were seated right away on the patio (it is enclosed in glass with heaters so it's not cold!). The paper menus looked dirty with everyone's grubby hands touching the menus. They should be replaced or laminated for easy cleaning. Our orders were taken in a timely manner and the food came out quickly too. The shrimp plate was incredible! The shrimp was cooked well and juicy with lots of vegetables. I had the salmon sandwich which was cooked in a citrus honey glaze. It was also cooked well and was a thick piece of fish. The slaw on the side (that I subbed instead of fries) was flavorless. Our waiter came by to check on us, I think too many times. I would guess he came by 5 times asking if we needed anything before we had to explicitly ask for the check. Never again. The oysters were BAD! Old tasting, no brine flavor, and something tasted just off. I ordered a dozen with 4 of each of the 3 kinds and left 4 of them on the plate. It was served with tons of lemon, cocktail sauce, and horseradish but no vinegrette. yeah, it's just ok. nothing special, pricey food. i hear that this location is newer and nicer, and that's what you're paying extra for. i heard the food at the other location is better. the shrimp pan was just ok. the clam chowder and a fish and chips were good, but also pricey for what you get. i wouldn't drive too far to come here, but if i'm around the area and feel like this type of food, i could stop by again. parking is easy, so that's a big plus. read more

I came here for Shrimp Fest and it's by far the best experience I had. The oysters were shucked fresh in front of me (I ate 12), they had ceviche, aguachile, and a shrimp mac & cheese that hated to see me coming. The location is beautiful and the space provides ample free parking. Again, I came for Shrimp Fest and had an amazing time! Friendly service, food that was more addicting than poppers, and the staff was super kind/attentive. I can't speak for the negative reviews so come for shrimp fest I guess? Def worth the money. AND we got two $25 gift cards so clearly we will be coming back. read more

First time at this location. Very different from the San Pedro location. This is more of a sit down restaurant. Huge two story space, with a bar, and plenty of window side seating with a view of the water. We were celebrating National Margarita Day with some family and also craving seafood...win win! Wasn't too busy on a Saturday. It was lunch time so I had expected a bigger crowd. Lucky us that we were seated rather quickly. Great seats right at the window with the sun warming us during our meal. Friendly and attentive waitress. Came back a couple to check on us and provide refills. We ordered: - House Margarita (needs more alcohol IMO) but came in a pint glass so that was nice -Original Shrimp Tray with sausage and snow crab add on. Perfect amount of food for my husband and I to share. Comes with an entire loaf of garlic bread that we barely got half way through. I saw a couple large mugs of beer floating around other tables. I'll skip the margs next time and tackle one of those babies with my seafood. Love being on the water and enjoyed our meal. read more

Very disappointing experience. Restaurant is dirty, tables are sticky from food residue and food is not good. Ordered the clam chowder and one of the calamari trays. The clam chowder was so thick and salty, it tasted like thick gravy. All the options they offer are frozen items that they just reheat and serve. Drinks were also very disappointing. Management has a lot of work to do if they want to keep this place open. read more

I've been coming to San Pedro Fish Market for a while now and usually have a great time, but our visit this past Sunday 3/22 serviced by daniela was honestly a mess. We dropped $300 and the service just didn't match the bill at all. Everything was super slow, and my girlfriend waited over 25 minutes for her drink. We asked our server for it and nothing happened, so I eventually had to flag down someone else just to get it to the table. We also asked for extra sauces that never showed up and we never got straws. When the server finally did bring the straws over, she literally just threw them at us. It's a bummer because I'm a repeat customer and I love the food, but being treated like an inconvenience after spending that much money really sucked.
