    Roasted Octopus
    Kristine Y.

Such a nice little Italian restaurant perfect for date night, GNO or even family night! The service is friendly and efficient. I so love this is a small family business, you can really feel the love and pride. The food was amazing! You can tell chef only uses the freshest ingredients. The sauce is perfectly fresh tomato ripe sweet. We had the octopus starter which was tender and delicious. The fish was flavorful and flaky and the pasta was perfectly cooked with a most delicious sauce. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. I also love that the chef changes the menu given what is in season. Definitely coming back!

Hurry! Have an unforgettable meal at this Chef/Family owned warm & friendly Osteria before the restaurant closes permanently on Sunday April 12th and Chef Nicola returns to Italy. Not only do the pasta dishes taste incredible (made with fresh ingredients and love), but the fish, steak, & chicken options are delicious & unique as well. Great assortment of Italian wines and refreshing spritz. Best gelato anywhere. Chef and his family will be missed.

Salmon dinner. Fish was cooked to perfection. Veggies were perfect.

Another outstanding dinner. Everything was fabulous all around: the salad, the main course, the wine and the dessert. Definitely recommend this gem on Main Street in Seal Beach.

We visited Italy . Ate in Venice , Florence and Rome . Had to come back here again to taste authentic food . We validated our opinion that this chef's table gem in Seal Beach is very good and real Italian taste . The prawns in the squid ink pasta is fresh and sweet ! The Tric and Trac sausages Rigatoni is earthy and comforting.

Great new Italian addition to Main Street. The service was exceptional. Very friendly staff who served with a smile, and took great pride in the restaurant. Overall my husband and I were pleased with the freshness and flavors of our dishes. The two biggest drawbacks from being a 5 star meal was the excessive use of olive oil (our plates were COATED in it!) and minuscule portion sizes for shared appetizers. We look forward to coming back to Osteria Mare Blu as they expand their alcohol options and fine tune the kinks.

This has to be the best restaurant in Seal Beach, and I'd say the best authentic italian restaurant in Orange County. It's a super cute family-run kind of place, but the food is out of this world. Simple, earthy, authentic dishes done spectacularly well. Clearly the guys a legit chef, but the unique part is that it feel very family and low key. A true gem.

We came here after the birthday girls favorite restaurant had a 2 1/2 hour away, and we saw the good reviews. The place could use an upgrade, but the food was amazing. Especially the creamy pasta they recommend. I got the Bronzino, which wasn't bad, but I am comparing it to Branzino in other parts of the world. The portions were solid and just enough to fill everyone up they brought out a tiramisu for the birthday girl and I was actually impressed with how good it was. Would definitely recommend if you're craving some Sicilian food.

What a beautiful addition to Old Town SB! Very friendly servers that also make great recommendations from their menu and daily specials! The chef came out and greeted us when we arrived, wishing our birthday guest a most happy birthday so warmly! Every dish was delicious and most of us ate every single bite! Looking for a special place to have the best Italian food - come here! Whether it's the pasta with salmon in saffron cream sauce, the amazing gnocchi or the lasagna special or the cioppino (just ask for extra broth when you order) etc., it's truly so good like your Nonna made it! It's my first time here, but not my last! It's only open for dinner from 5-9 pm! There's also a welcoming bar to enjoy your Prosecco or vino!

Another delicious win at Osteria Mare Blu. We brought our Aunt here for a nice dinner and they delivered. We love the atmosphere and food here. Will be back!

Salmon excellently prepared crispy exterior and moist interior.

Dinner at Osteria Mare Blu on Main Street in Seal Beach. It is a cozy place and a neighborhood gem. It reminds me of the local, neighborhood restaurants in San Francisco. Everything was prep to order, so fresh and delicious. We shared a mixed salad and bread with two types of pesto. Service was attentive. My husband ordered the salmon filet which was crispy on the outside and soft, moist , and tender on the inside I considered ordering the Cioppino, though wanted pasta so got the spaghetti with clams and mussels. Go visit and explore this gem of a place yourself.

We were wandering in Seal Beach and found this relatively new Italian Restaurant. We loved it. Amal quiet place, excellent service. I ordered the spaghetti Pomadoro I believe, it was one of the best dishes I have had. A kind of pesto with cherry tomatoes. I did add chicken. Wow! Nick I believe is the owner or chef, incredible food. Thank you all. And the creme brûlée and calamari too were wonderful.

The wine was good, and the tastings were generous and I know it is a wine bar but the day was really spoiled by not having a lunch there. I don't think I would go there again. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The service is fantastic as well. Ordering several small plates and sharing an entree was perfect for us. Wow! What a gem we found in this Seal Beach French restaurant! I had seen this place many times,…read morebut hadn't paid much attention to it. We were walking by yesterday and stopped to look at the menu and decided we would give it a try. The decor is very much as you would expect in a French bistro. There are blue checked tablecloths and art on the walls, and a long bar along one wall. There is a gourmet market attached, which has wonderful gift items (reasonable priced!!), and, of course French food products and wine (with win be tasting!!). I think one sign was that French was being spoken by many in this restaurant. We were greeted right away, and we're told we could pick out table. Our server came quickly, and was so nice and accommodating. We came in a Monday night, when select tapas, draft beers, and bottles of wine are 50% off. Neither of us was very hungry, so hubby ordered a French beer (so sorry--i can't remember the name) and we ordered a few tapas. We got: *Escargot in garlic parsley butter with warm bread *Soupe A L'oignon Gratinee * Lamb pops in wine reduction served with ratatouille *Beef bourguignon First, let me say that the food was amazing!!!! So delicious! There was so much garlic butter to sop up with our warm bread and escargot---deeeelush! The lamb pops were perfectly cooked and the wine reduction was also perfection. The beef bourguinon was the best I've had, and the tapas size, which is supposed to be a half of the regular size, was so big. There was soooo much beef--no skimping here. I know we will be back many times. We left so full and happy!

When I made the reservation, I was asked whether we were celebrating a special occasion. I said yes--it was my friend's birthday. When we arrived, our server acknowledged it by saying, "I hear we're celebrating a birthday," which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. We waited quite a while before our server took our order, even though she attended to two nearby tables multiple times first. I couldn't help but notice that those tables appeared to receive more attentive service than we did. I don't know the reason, but it certainly left us feeling overlooked. We ordered three dishes to share, yet we rarely saw our server afterward. In fact, we had more interaction with the busser than with our server. After brunch, two dessert menus were silently dropped on our table by someone other than our server. Since the restaurant had asked about the birthday twice--once during the reservation and again upon arrival--it felt odd. It almost gave the impression they thought we were expecting a complimentary dessert, even though we never asked for one. We ordered a single dessert to share, and our server eventually brought it out, then returned moments later with a candle. I don't expect complimentary desserts or special treatment. My only suggestion is this: if a restaurant asks guests whether they're celebrating a special occasion, there should be some meaningful acknowledgment--or simply don't ask. Otherwise, it creates unnecessary expectations. More than anything, I felt disappointed for my friend, whose birthday brunch should have felt more welcoming and memorable. FOOD The meal itself was a mix of highs and lows. The standouts were the peaches and burrata and the blue oyster mushroom pizza--both were excellent. The baked eggs, however, missed the mark because the yolks were completely overcooked and solid. The burnt cheesecake was another disappointment. While Basque cheesecake should have a deeply caramelized, dark brown exterior, this one was so blackened that it tasted bitter. One helpful tip: mimosas are available even though they aren't listed on the menu. They cost $18 per glass. ATMOSPHERE The restaurant itself is beautiful. The modern design and patio-style seating create a bright, inviting space with a pleasant breeze on a nice day. Unfortunately, the inattentive service overshadowed what could have been a wonderful atmosphere. Would I return? No. There are too many restaurants that make guests feel genuinely welcomed, and I'd rather support those establishments.

I showed up around 5pm and sure enough there was already a line forming in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located around a neighborhood, so you have to find street parking, which can be challenging. I already did my research on what I wanted to order, so my process went fairly smoothly. I imagine some other people were not as prepared and asked a lot of questions at the counter which can make the wait time even longer for other people in line. We ordered caesar salad, pizza focaccia with soppressata, squid ink tonnerelli, and ribeye tagliata. We also ordered some glasses of wine. After ordering, they walked us to our table inside. This location used to be a bbq restaurant- shady grove- before they closed down. And wow I was so impressed by the change of the patio vibe. It looked way nicer now under Due Fuori. I truly believe the vibe of a restaurant is equally important to the quality of the food, and this place nailed it. Also, apparently you can still order more stuff even after you're seated. They don't really have dedicated server for each table but the service was pretty efficient in my opinion. Now the food, everything was delicious, I have no notes! Caesar salad, very good. Pizza, omg amazing. And I'm not a pizza kinda person, so this is really a compliment! It's the thick kind of pizza, and they put some honey on it too which makes it even more delicious to me. Next was the squid ink pasta, another delightful dish. My only complaint is that it's not big enough of a portion, haha! The ribeye tagliata was so good. It was served with some salad that's very refreshing. The server explained to us that the original dish comes with the greens and cherry tomatoes underneath the meat, but they serve it separately to keep the freshness and crunch. The meat has some nice crust on the outside, very flavorful. We ended up taking some of the ribeye home, as we were already really full. It was plenty of food to share between two people. I definitely will come back to try other dishes, especially the other popular pasta dishes. This place has been really popular and I heard the line is still long even after a few months (or maybe it has been a year now?). Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food in town. Very hip, vibey place, and delicious food!

The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

This is definitely a place with a very Long Beach vibe (so it really depends on what you think…read moreabout Long Beach in general). The seating is a little funky, but the drinks are solid. The food is definitely bar food that's ideal for late night eats while buzzed, and the service is fast! Food: 3.5/5 Drinks: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 3.5/5 Overall: 4/5
