Wonderful on the beach restaurant- Food 100% Service 100% Ambiance 100% Lovely stop to enjoy the beach.

After we asked them to post a Closed sign for customers to read before paying for parking, this is what they put up.
    O Z.

Open until 10 pm. NOPE. NOT TODAY. NO NOTICE BUT THEY CLOSED @ 4pm. Really disappointed. We pulled into the parking lot at 405 pm Thursday April 23. It was a beautiful warm Spring day (73 degrees) and we were excited to eat with the great ocean view from The Beach House Seal Beach. Paid for 2 hours of parking and walked over to the restaurant. It was only when we entered the gate where the hostess is that we saw a small sign that said, "Closed." WAIT WHAT???? No indication in the parking lot, no sign at the sidewalk, no sign walking down the walk way. The ONLY notice was buried around a corner saying Closed. We were told they were short staffed and had to close early, sorry. As we walked back to the car, we stopped at least 4 other cars and told them the restaurant was closed. We were able to alert them so they did not pay for parking at a CLOSED restaurant. It felt like the restaurant had NO consideration for the customers. To have NO sign anywhere near where customers would be parking to notify us of a totally unexpected, unanticipated, highly unusual CLOSING at 4 pm for a restaurant that was supposed to be open until 10 pm!!!!! So I called from my car in the parking lot and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager got on he explained that they were short staffed and had to close early. I discussed the lack of notice to customers and how we paid for 2 hours of beach parking. Manager was nice and polite and totally unresponsive to the fact we paid money to visit his restaurant and now had no where to eat and were out the parking fees. I recommended they post a notice where customers could see they were closed BEFORE we paid for our parking. He said they would do it after they finished closing out. I insisted it was only fair that they notified their customers FIRST. So, as we were leaving we saw an employee come out and post a sign. I took a photo because no one would believe how inadequate their posting was if I just described it. The sign is micro small. You can see our car at the bottom of the photo. Would you notice this CLOSED sign? Come on Beach House. We know you can do better for your customers.

Came here over the weekend for breakfast and it was a great experience. I like how you can make reservations online and we opted for the "sand bar" seating which was directly facing the beach and ocean. Beautiful views all around. We were lucky as our seats was covered by an umbrella and in the shade - others with sand bar seating not so much. I'm glad it's under new ownership as now the prices are much affordable than before. Breakfast items are $15-20...which is a steal when seated right on the sand. I got the breakfast burrito with sausage. This burrito was OK. The salsa was good, however, everything mixed together just OK. It needed some kind of sauce or something in the burrito. My friend had the loco mocco and thought the same thing. It was good but just eh. We've clearly had both of these breakfast items at other places that were better, but was the views this good? I don't think so. I would say 5 stars for the views and vibes and maybe 4 stars for the food. Our server was really friendly and food came out promptly. I would definitely come back here to try their lunch menu.

Finally had the opportunity to stop in for breakfast. I had the simple peanut butter & banana toastie and my son had the Loco Moco. I really wanted the Loco Moco too, but they didn't have a spam option - too bad. All good. Would return for another toastie!

First time here. We missed breakfast, it's only offered til 1145am. Wish they had some breakfast items they serve the whole day :(. The server was full of smiles and was very attentive, very nice. I gave them a 3 because the server was great, I would downgrade the 3 to a 2 if the service wasn't good. So I was very hungry when we got there, I'd been fasting since the night before and we ordered around 1pm. I ordered the jidori chicken salad. The salad was plain but did include arugula salad mix which I liked. Just cherry tomatoes, boiled egg and salad mix and chicken with ranch dressing. It was too plain for me, needed cucumbers at min, avocado and maybe some shredded cheese, croutons would have been a nice addition. The chicken was ok, was hoping it was cooked to order but was refrigerated and it tasted ok. We also ordered the steak bites and fried calamari as our appetizers. The steak bites were barely warm and very small, the pics on yelp made them seem like they were bigger bites and they were bland and the fried onions seemed like they were fried yesterday. I'd pass on these. The fried calamari, more batter than protein? I never thought I'd say the calamari was very bland almost like it was just batter without the calamari, it was a little shocking since this is an ocean side restaurant. Would skip this as well. The fish and chips, underwhelming. The cod was tough, the batter was ok. The French fries, now how can you get fries wrong? The fries were whatever, tasted old not freshly fried. The poke bowl looked pretty, the food looked pretty but the taste and portions was not up to par. The poke fish tasted too fishy, the mango, avocado, rice were fine and chips were good. The Bloody Mary tasted weird and needed more tomato juice for a savory flavoring. I drank it all because it was $16 and I didn't want to return anything. Again, ocean side venue and the seafood was not good. The cups used to serve soda were small not restaurant style large cups, not sure why, this is a miss entirely. Unfortunately, I will not be going back here for the food. The ambiance was ok, the bathroom was clean, plenty of parking and the sign said $3 an hour no more than $15 for the day. This place can be so much better, one, they should remodel and take down the front high seating counter which is the only area you can sit with an ocean view so if it's lowered and glass windows are placed you can see the ocean from the entire dining area outside. You don't have a clear view of the ocean which to me is a big miss. There is inside seating but lots of gnats flying around which I don't like. Sorry, I wish I can give a better score but I had high hopes and was very disappointed. Note: I did eat all of my salad because I was starving, and it was an ok salad.

This is a hidden gem... I was greeted by a Server who said her name is MADDY she is so sweet and Kind sat me down and went over to a table of seniors who apparently our regulars she was fully engaged to their conversation and was so quick, sweet and kind. I hope the owners of this establishment realize what an asset she is.

Great place to meet up with friends! We were there Monday afternoon after 1pm so it wasn't crowded and it was off season. - Indoor and outdoor dining with beach views! - Parking is not free and you will need to pay at the kiosk. - Menu is simple but flavorful. - Our waitress recommended the burger, fish and chips or the poke bowl. - Tuna salad sandwich was okay. It was mixed in with micro greens so I felt like I was making good choices. The bun was big so I ate it open face with the bottom half only. - Side salad was a little heavy on the arugula. - The restaurant has a single unisex restroom but the public restrooms are next to the restaurant. -Amazing Seal Beach views! Just happy to take it all in!!

I always like the atmosphere right in the beach. Food is good. A favorite is chicken piccata. Fish and chips and loco moco are good. Listening to live music on a Saturday afternoon on the beach is fantastic. Ashe brothers performed today. Can't beat the vibe.

The location is right on the beach and we got to see the sunset. I called for a reservation but they don't do same day I guess. They told us just to come in and we got a seat. My daughter got the Salmon and said it was delicious. Only the broccoli was not cooked enough. I got the Flank Steak Salad and they cooked it perfectly. She ordered a virgin pina colada and was so happy with the presentation. It came with a flower in it. Definitely recommend.

I love this place a beautiful spot right on the beach. Ambiance - the vibe is so SoCal an outdoor and indoor seating restaurant . If you want to sit out door I suggest making reservations. Indoor seating is amazing as well so any seat would be great . Service - the server was amazing gave us a drink suggestion and also food suggestions . She was very nice and had an amazing attitude . Brought us coffee right away and made sure our coffee never ran out . Food- we started with the banana nut pancake and it was the best decision yes we started with a pancake first lol. I ordered the chili omelette and again another amazing choice ended it with the salmon cappers toast and just a nice complement and clean choice after the heavier dishes . Over all great spot with a beautiful location .

4.5 stars The Beach House in Seal Beach is one of those places that reminds you why living in SoCal is worth it. I've been here twice, once for a sunset dinner with my girlfriend and another time for my friend's engagement party. Her fiance rented out a big section on the patio for 35 people and it was perfect. The restaurant opens right onto the sand, so you're basically eating with an ocean view and sea breeze built in. Service was great both times: fast, friendly, and totally on top of things. Food and drinks came out quick and accurate, even with a big group. The food's solid. Not the star of the show, but definitely good enough to keep you happy while you watch the sunset. The real draw here is the setting, it's classic SoCal beach life in full form. Tip: - there's a good sized parking lot but you have to pay with a credit card or their app every 2 hours; no Apple Pay - Great beach day spot for when you want to relax in the sand but still have easy parking, food, drinks, and a bathroom steps away

We stopped in on a Sunday for lunch and had a great experience. The hostess was very friendly right from the start, and our server was both friendly and knowledgeable. We had about 10 minute wait time. The ambiance right on the beach is really cool ~ easy, relaxed, and exactly what you want in a Seal Beach spot. We had the ahi salad, steak salad and hamburger and it was delicious. Overall just a comfortable, easy vibe. Would definitely go back.

Stopped in for a sunset view....it's never disappointing to visit this On The Beach location. Watched the waves roll in, while sipping a glass of wine, waiting for the sun to dip below Palos Verde. Sat at the bar, service friendly and professional. The Pinot Noir was forgettable , but the ambiance was not!

I've been there many times and never made a reservation. I love the Filet Mignon with Asparagus & golden mashed potatoes, medium rare for me. You do have to pay for parking now.

    Yes, there is.

    YES YOU CAN

    Is the patio pet friendly?

As I recall, there was a sign, indicating "no pets" but it was right after they opened maybe things have. changed

Not dog friendly? Any plans on changing this policy? River's End was pet friendly and many loved going there with their pups. Hopefully the policy is revisited.

Upscale Restaurant on 2nd Street with Delicious Food…read more I've visited Saint & Second on multiple occasions: for drinks, a casual lunch, and my birthday dinner. Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

Though it doesn't come with lettuce and tomatoes, and it was a little greasy, the smash burger was large, juicy, and satisfying. Honestly, it was tough to decide. We all chose seafood! Next visit definitely plan to try their Prime Rib or Filet! They have great soup and salad options as well! Next visit I want to try their French Onion Soup! Always looking for a great one! Interior has nice cozy booths. Parking was easy with a share lot. Cocktails were great! Martinis made right! I enjoyed my glass of Malbec. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised! Bread was warm and excellent! First impressions with bread is important and they measured up! We ordered the Beet Salad and the Asian Pear Salad. Both came with fresh Burrata and so good! For entrees we ordered Sear Ahi, Salmon, and Seated Scallops. My husband waa so impressed with his salmon, his quote, the best he has ever had! I had the seated scallops. The menu stated they were East Coast, where I grew up, and why I orderd them. I can't tell you exactly the differencebl but I prefer them back there vs West Coast, seem more meaty to me. They were preoared perfectly, definitely enjoyed the dush along with the side cous cous (pearl type) and lots of colorful al dente veggies! Our son ordered the appetizer size of the Seared Ahi. Perfect size when paired with a full size salad! It also was an excellent pick! Desserts. This place is known for their inhouse made desserts. If you know me, you know I have a sweet tooth. Nice offering if desserts. Since it wa our anniversary, they comp'd us a dessert of our choice! Very nice! We ordered two, Bread Pudding and Apple Tart. Both were excellent! Very generous portions too! Coffee was very good and paired well with the desserts. Definitely will be coming back! Too many items on the menu we didn't get to try!
