This is the best BBQ in the Wheeling area in my opinion. I stop in every time that I am back home in Wheeling. I haven't had an item yet that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. I have a hard time believing this place doesn't have a higher rating. We came to this place during our stay at Oglebay Resort. We wanted good bbq and chose this place. An FYI for out of Towner's, you order in one building and then cross the street for seating in another building. No problem, the street you have to cross isn't busy. I got the 2 meat 2 sides platter with ribs and sausage, Cole slaw and macaroni salad. It's served with a small piece of cornbread and pickled jalapenos, onions and pickles. For my sauce, I chose the spicy mustard and the horesradish. The ribs were phenomenal. I prefer my ribs without bbq sauce and these ribs cakes rubbed perfectly!! The meat was tender and the bones pulled apart easily....YUM!! I was not a fan of the coleslaw and macaroni salad was just alright. The cornbread was wonderful...dense and sweet. The sausage was out of this world. My husband got the brisket and ribs. The brisket was tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. He got macaroni and cheese which was devine....it was creamy and thick! Staff was friendly and let us try all the sauces bc we were out of Towners We will for sure be visiting again! read more

Oh lord this place is good! My husband and I took a drive down from Pittsburgh for the day to explore Wheeling and we're so glad we stopped at this gem. The husband and wife team that own the place are the nicest people we've come across in a long time. You can tell they're passionate about what they do. I had the chopped brisket sandwich with a side of mac and my husband had the rib plate with collard greens and cucumber salad - all fantastic. The traditional bbq sauce and the apple butter were perfect. We also got a couple Leona's ice cream sandwiches for dessert...delicious. These folks are doing something real special down there! From the Brisket Noodle Bowls to the Fried Ribs they're just hitting home runs!! The Pits are rolling smoke at 2:30am like clockwork to provide some of the most tender delicious BBQ I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Wow , what a great discovery. Saw a review somewhere online as I was looking for food in Wheeling (first visit here). This small, local BBQ offers real BBQ and sides. Visited on May 5th, so of course, they offered Cinco de Mayo chopped brisket tacos . The brisket was very well prepared and the holiday twist was fun and tasty! Very friendly staff, too. The BBQ is only 1.4 miles from Olgelbay Resort. Just a few tables, but we took ours to go. We will return upon our next visit. You should try them. read more

We reached out to Hangover to cater the welcome party to our wedding, ~75 people. Steph and Billy worked with us through the whole thing to make sure we had the right mix and right amount of food. It ended up being ~40#s of meat, macaroni salad, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread and we ended up with a handful of pieces of sausage and some sides left - they were absolutely perfect. They had everything ready at the exact time needed for pickup and we heard nothing but complements. I lived in Texas and Oklahoma for a long time and had a lot of friends come in for the wedding and they absolutely loved it & I can't think of a better compliment than that!! Decided to make an impromptu stop for dinner and was very disappointed. It started when I saw how much it was for 3 pulled pork sandwiches and a tub of mac n cheese and then the guy asked me to enter in my tip amount. Tip? Why would I tip someone for food that is wrapped up like fast food and placed in a bag? The pulled pork wasn't bad but it sure wasn't worth what I paid for it. Dry rubbed and slow-cooked meats smoked daily with homemade sides and sauce -- plus creative and fresh specials -- the quality is really unmatched. Most of what I've ordered has lasted me through two meals, as the portions are incredibly generous. You've gotta try the ribs and mac salad -- THE BEST.
