Food was very good to inspired. Service was friendly and the ambience is funky. Let's start with the food. Fricco fries, half churro, half cheese, sublime. Lamb-chetta, flavorful rounds of lamb, but quite chewy and difficult to cut with the provided cutlery, a funky looking swing open knife. Frankly, I'd prefer pork belly. Chicken pot pie with Johnny cakes were notable for the chicken skin crackling; I didn't find the chicken itself to be particularly tasty. The Honeynut squash and semolina dumplings were a stand out. This is not a conventional dumpling, rather they were shaped like meatballs and served in a delicate apple flavored sauce. So good that we dipped the Johnny cakes to soak up the goodness. The harvest salad was fairly standard fair. The East Beach blonde oysters were terrific, with clean shells; the cranberry mignonette could've used a touch more vinegar, and two of the six oysters did not have their bottom, abductor muscles cut, which made them difficult to eat. And while we were warned that the plates come out randomly, it would've been nice to have the oysters after the salad rather than for dessert. Kudos to Henri kitchen for using local ingredients, for a fine drink selection and a nice beer list. Unfortunately, I have to subtract a star because there is no restroom available for diners. We were told that the restroom was closed due to a health code violation, and directed to the restrooms at a nearby brewery. Despite the tasty dishes, not sure that I will repeat, given the lack of a restroom, and cannot recommend to others without this caveat. read more

I cannot recommend this place higher! I've lived and eaten in NYC for 10 years and have dined all over the US. That is only to say how utterly blow away I was by this meal, and to find it in little Pawtucket of all places! The husband and wife team were so welcoming and made you feel like you were at home. It was very sweet to see their dynamic. The cocktails were creative, strong and fun. The duck confit sliders were out of this world. So my family and I checked out Pawtucket's newest restaurant last Friday. Over all a great addition to Pawtucket. Very cute and eclectic atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and polite for being a busy Friday night. They only had 1 bartender on, which made getting our drinks on time difficult. It is a small place so hiring another bartender might not be an option but maybe training someone else on the wait staff as a fill in would help. The food delivery was fast so you can spare the time. The food was amazing with just 2 issues. While the flavor was on point the clam cakes were runny in the middle and the calamari was soggy and could have been crispier for our tastes. Definitely worth a visit. The gravlax toast, pot pie Johnny cakes, fricco fries, and risotto are must tries! read more

My favorite restaurant in the Providence area. I've never seen another restaurant in my life that has such a unique combination of being so ambitious with the food (in terms of creativity and complete dedication to local / seasonal ingredients) and yet be so casual, warm and relaxed with the vibe. You shouldn't have to choose between being going somewhere you can be really excited about the food and going somewhere you can be completely comfortable and relaxed. I've never seen a restaurant do a better job at hitting both of those notes. I'm so impressed with this place. read more

I set up a yelp account just to review this restaurant. We are already so lucky to live in such a foodie city, but now we have Hangry. DIVINE! The flavors of the food were so rich and complex. The wine list was carefully selected and diverse. But the food...the food. The Fricco Fries were in my dreams last night. I think the food is great. But the prices are too high. Marketing the tapas concept may cost less to operate, but the owner must realize that it will only attract the 'Bar-crowd'. Everything I tasted was good, but left me leaving a little hungry. My wife and I dropped $100+ not counting 20% tip. So this place will never attract the restaurant diner who wants a decent meal for that kind of money. Beatrice, our server was v attentive without being officious. Had the beet salad and the jambalaya, which were both yummy. Really lovely and warm ambiance with great hospitality from the owners and staff. The butternut squash dumplings were incredible even for someone who usually doesn't enjoy squash. And the RI Johnny Cakes were absolutely delicious and very filling. The kale salad with garlic crumbs was super tasty and our cocktails were perfectly balanced and well made. The stars align when you're in an unfamiliar area, go searching on Yelp for something nearby that'll do for the evening, and end up finding a spectacular place that you'll mark down as a "must go again" favorite. Such was the case tonight for us and Hangry Kitchen. As soon as we walked in, the owner was super friendly and conversational. I can't have anything that uses alcohol in the cooking and within minutes he provided me with a marked up menu and explained what the issues would be, even suggesting alterations they could do as they're a scratch kitchen. We ordered the Salmon Tartare, Fricco Fries, Crispy Eggplant, Steak Tostada and the Chef's Glizzy, and finished the night off with a stellar ice cream sandwich. Everything was excellent, and we were able to talk about the background of the restaurant and how the menu continually evolves. The food was great and priced for a nice evening out. We had a few small plates and shared a main cod entree which was fabulous. The small plates included a beet salad. I'm not a big fan of beets, but I loved this salad. We also had clam cakes which were awesome. Finally, our final small plate was fried tofu with delicious peanut sauce. A big surprise came with the complimentary cake pops dipped in white chocolate. We suddenly had more room to eat! Finally, the service was great and everyone in the restaurant made us welcome. I've been to Hangry Kitchen twice in the last 3 weeks and it is truly amazing. The quality of the food, the service, even the tableware, are all exceptional. There are some staples on the menu like the frico fries and the crispy eggplant, but other items change depending on what is in season which made each visit a new experience. The grilled peaches with feta was divine, and there was a variety of items on the menu for me (vegetarian) and my boyfriend (omnivore). Tonight we celebrated my birthday and the fantastic meal was finished with a birthday candle in my slice of peanut butter chocolate chiffon cake, the most luxurious pineapple meringue cookies, and a birthday card! All the food we had was fantastic and unique: the beignets, the cous cous, the sliders, the clam bahn mi, and the salmon tartar. Cocktails were also excellent.
