Update : Returned with friends and believe I got food poisoning. It basically went right through me and I got massive cramps; I haven't had anything out of the ordinary other than eating here. I didn't have anything spicy, just the cauliflower rice and beans. Really hoped for a better experience. Visited again back in June 2025 solo as a birthday treat & noticed the POS calculated a 25% tip came up as $9.33 instead of $7.02 on a $28.08 bill. It was odd but still tipped well. Great spot in downtown Lincoln. Been here a few times now and it's always a great time. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months and a nicely decorated interior as well. I'm a big fan of the Wizard of Oz theme. Our waitress tonight was very kind and made sure we were well taken care of. It's Monday so we had the $5 margaritas which were great as well. I'm not a big drinker but I found the margaritas to have a nice kick! I've had a variety of their tacos but tonight I tried the mermaid burrito. It was stuffed full of shrimp and tasted great as well. Very cheesy. I also recommend the bang bang shrimp tacos as a platter. The prices here are great too for the amount of food you get! I came for taco Tuesday. $3 tacos with a drink purchase. Not very authentic, but just about every one of these hit! My personal favorites were surprisingly the Mahi Mahi and the shrimp tacos. The chicken tinga was good, shredded pork was tasty, Pastrami interesting (a little on the tough side for the meat, still liked it), the gyro was loaded, I enjoyed it but could have used some dill or lemon, maybe a garlic punch as well. I didn't care for the Carne asada- the meat needed to be a bit more tender. For $3 each, I'm not filing any formal grievances.. In fact, I know I'll be back here. We came in for best of RI tacos and well, they were so good that we didn't take photos! We each got a chicken and steak taco and both loved them! We paired it with happy hour chips and guacamole and some drinks. The prices were so reasonable we honestly couldn't get over how little the bill was! That's rare to say in this economy! The drinks, like the food, were really good, I would totally have mine again the next time! The service was great. My third stop on the RI Food Fights trail brought me to OZ Tacos and Tequila. And after the day I had today at the office ...tequila was needed. It's a bustling Friday night, but I was able to find a seat at the bar. After a few moments I was brought a menu and I immediately ordered the house margarita. It came quickly, strong, tart and a little sweet. For the fight, you get your choice of two tacos, minus the lobster esquites. They have quite the creative combinations but I went with two Mojo Pork. You don't have to do two of the same but I chose to. As I waited for my food, I noted the decor. Oz is aptly named, it has a Wizard of Oz theme...if it was located in a Mexican cantina in the 60s. Andy Warhol style art, grass walls, an extensive tequila selection and Nancy Sinatra singing about her boots give a chaotic vibe in the mostly complementary way possible. I loved it. My tacos arrived and after quickly getting my pictures out of the way, I squeezed my lime and dug in. Holy moly was it good. Succulent roasted pork tenderly shredded with the tangy sweetness of the tamarind glaze juxtaposed against the heat from the cherry peppers delights the taste buds. Then the herbaceous cilantro cuts through to lift and brighten the taco to a truly delicious experience. I am so glad I got two of them because one wasn't enough. My only regret is I didn't realize one taco had four slices of cherry pepper and the other only had one. I would have distributed the peppers accordingly but the one slice was big enough that I could stretch it across the whole taco and enjoy it just as much as the first one. I was still hungry after the tacos so I ordered a side of the Mexican Street Corn (served off the cob) and a side of chips. Now, a lot of times when people say Mexican Street Corn off the cob it's just esquites and they use an Americanized term for marketability. In this case, this was like they made an elote and then cut it off the cob into the bowl. Salty, cojita cheesy and tangy with the extra lime, it hit the spot with some chips. They have the thicker style tortilla chips, great for holding fat bites of corn! You could see the clusters of kernels confirming freshly shelled corn. I ended up taking the rest home to enjoy another time. With my time here at an end I left full and happy I found another tasty spot to visit again. read more

I think the best thing I ever ate here were the shrimp tacos that were on the specials meu. They were just amazing! I've honestly never had anything I didn't like here. Always one of our favorites on the RI Food Fights Taco Mania competition trail and whenever we're up this way. The "little sister" restaurant to Providence's Xaco Taco, a more authentic Mexican taqueria joint, Oz is the magical land where you land after the tornado & everything's different. Here tacos may have Asia, or southern or other unique vibes. We arrived just at the beginning of lunch to a quiet room which quickly filled while we were there. Service was friendly & super efficient to get people back out quickly when they needed. We started off with queso, chips & salsa. Yes - that queso is a junkfood, American creation. But, truth be told, I would bathe in the stuff if I could. Theirs was delicious with warm, fresh chips & a tasty salsa. Couldn't stop eating it. A yummy Watermelon Agua Fresca was a tasty accompaniment. For tacos, we tried the Pork Belly, Hot Chicken, Bang Bang Shrimp & Baja Fish. That being said, they do get pretty busy. They have a smaller restaurant, but it has a bar area, high tops, and booths, and an outdoor patio area. Their tacos and drinks are always delicious. The restaurant had a nice, clean atmosphere, and the staff were very welcoming and polite. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We tried the cheeseburger empanada, which was overly greasy and not flavorful. The dressing that came with it tasted like a pickle-based Thousand Island sauce, and it seemed like they were trying to mimic a Big Mac, but it didn't work. We also had the gochujang boneless chicken strips, which were extremely salty and used the same dressing as the empanadas, which didn't make sense. Among the tacos we tried, the shrimp taco was the best, but the carne asada and the al pastor chicken taco were very bland, the cauliflower taco was terrible, and the hot honey chicken taco didn't taste good at all. The burritos my kids ordered were very oily. I also requested hot sauce, which turned out to be terrible and not spicy at all. This restaurant has a Wizard of Oz theme, and probably wouldn't be considered authentic, but I think they're not authentic in the best way possible. I've been here for tacos twice and they have some creative options. Most recently I got a Hot Fried Chicken, Bang Bang Shrimp, and Carne Asada taco. All of them were interesting flavor profiles, with a good mix of well prepared protein and zingy additives. The Bang Bang Shrimp was my favorite of the three. The sauce is a great balance of spicy and light. The Hot Fried Chicken taco was also really good, and would encourage me to try other cross cultural items on the menu. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and came to bring water and check if we needed anything several times. There's a mixture of booths and tables, and overall it's a comfortable dining experience amid fun decor. Impromptu lunch... wife loves mexican so I decided to surprise her by trying a place we had heard about from many of our friends. Well, we were NOT disappointed! OZ is hands down one of my favorite taco restaurants in Rhode Island and I've visited 30+ local taco places the last year in order to say so. The selection and flavor is great, offering 9 tacos to choose from along with several appetizer choices and rice bowls. The prices are good for the quality and flavor you get, with different specials for each day of the week. I lucked out today and got a free taco Thursday! They also have 2 local draft beers and 2 Mexican draft beers for $5 every day. Lastly, the service was great, no complaints from our table. There were 4 of us in our party, & between hubby & I, we tried all of the street tacos (minus the Lobster Esquites as it was not part of the $2 special). They were all delicious! Can't speak to the appetizers, sides, or desserts. However, those margaritas! We tried both the spicy & tamarind house margaritas as well as the Twister & a watermelon margarita that was no longer on the menu, but they made for us anyway :) They were all very tasty; not very strong, but you could definitely taste the tequila. I started with their special pumpkin margarita with a cinnamon rim. It tasted delicious. We ordered the cheeseburger empanadas to start - ground beef + American cheese + caramelized onion + pickles + OZ special sauce. The empanada shell was perfect and the filling was very flavorful. I had the beef bulgogi taco - garlic soy marinated steak + gochujang crema + ginger-scallion slaw + toasted sesame and bang bang shrimp taco - fried shrimp + bang bang sauce + ginger scallion slaw + crispy onion. I really liked the flavors of both these tacos. The beef bulgogi and shrimp had really delicious sauce. My husband had the hot pastrami taco - melted Swiss + Russian dressing + sauerkraut + pickled mustard seeds and their special taco which was buffalo chicken with blue cheese dressing.
