    Pulled Pork Sandwich
    Dana G.

Had a very homey, farm town feel. There was a few picnic tables for people to eat at, as well as a drive thru! I got the pulled pork sandwich with Kansas City sauce and really enjoyed it. I also got a side of Mac n cheese , but that was a bit of a let down. Looked a bit like hamburger helper noodles, and had a yellow sauce. I expected a stronger cheddar taste. Would not get the max n cheese if I were to go again. We had a large group so the food took a while. But if it was a small group I'd imagine the food would be out quickly. The workers were extremely kind and helpful. If you are passing through and need a place to stop at, I'd recommend!

This is a must stop if you want really good BBQ! Mom & Pop joint that has a passion for smoking in a pit. Super impressed with this operation and the family is unbelievably kind. You won't be disappointed. The sauces and all sides are homemade same day. The art is custom too. 10/10 recommend!

I am always looking for a good barbecue joint. I really was craving bbq on Wednesday but Hanks wasn't open until Thursday. So i had to wait but i took an early lunch in hopes of getting some great brisket. It's a walk up and order then you can take it with you or sit at the outdoor seating area. Lots of varied of seating choices! It was too chilly for me so i day in my car to eat. I was disappointed with the brisket bc someone bought all the brisket first thing in the morning so i had to pick something else. I chose pulled pork sandwich and 1/2 pint of macaroni. The meat was generously seasoned and the smoke flavor was nice. You could actually taste the smoke flavor and it didn't over power the meat. They put a nice stack of meat on the bun too. They have several styles of bbq sauce to choose from and i went with the texas sweet and tangy. It hits you with the sweet up front and gets you with a little kick on the back end. I should have gotten 2 things off sauce. Oh well next time. The macaroni wasn't anything spectacular so i mixed in some of the meat from my sandwich and that really helped the macaroni. Overall it was a great experience and i would go back.

Absolutely spectacular food and wonderful customer service. The meat was bursting with flavor and the sauce variations were amazing as well. The owner came out to chat with us and let us try the burnt ends and the banana pudding on the house! Every bite was amazing and we were just sad it was over once the food was gone. Highly recommend for wonderful food and even nicer people!

What you see is what you get. The food and friendliness is so worth it!

Food is usually good. Sometimes a little slow. I really like the Texas red bbq sauce. Wish they had Turkey more often

We'd arrived in St Joseph, Missouri around 1:15p to have lunch at a little German restaurant we'd…read moreheard about; only to find their hours were a bit unconventional (11:30am thru 1:30pm Monday to Friday &closed Sat & Sun). I couldn't believe what I was seeing on their webpage, so I phoned the restaurant directly - once in town. The woman on the phone was extremely pleasant, yet informed me the hours posted were in fact correct, and that they were a small family owned place with limited help, so they'll seat their last customer at 1:15pm. I explained we'd just driven into town from Blue Springs specifically to eat there, thanked her for the clarification, then told her we'd return to dine there sometime soon. She was still kind enough to direct us to a couple other establishments in town that would promise a good experience; and she wasn't wrong. We'd decided we'd stop at Boudreaux's... They're a Louisiana style seafood & steak place. Known by the locals to be frequented by quite a few of the Kansas City Chiefs players from time to time. Ironically, we were within 400 feet of it when I looked it up. It was literally on the corner of the street we were on. So, we parked and went in. The interior was a little dark and kind of dated looking. It had a mezzanine that overlooked the lower dining area, and the black metal rails were decorated with the traditional fleur-de-lis symbols within it's panels, and they were scattered about the inside and outside of the building. It definitely reminded you of a little place you'd encounter on a visit to Mardi gras. Actually, come to think about it, it was exactly what you'd imagine a little place like this would look like inside if you were on Bourbon Street in Louisiana. We ordered a cup of Crab Bisque soup, which was divine! It arrived with a scoop of white rice and sour dough bread rounds. We'd also ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken balls; which were made with Cajun mashed potatoes & chicken, formed into golf ball sized balls and fried to perfection, then served with a special Cajun style creamed gravy sauce. That was also very tasty! Next, our entrees... We'd ordered the Seafood Jambalaya with a side of garden vegetables. This dish was slightly seafood forward, containing a trio of catfish, shrimp, and crawfish; it was layered amongst the usual Jambalaya suspects - of delicately steamed rice, seasoned tomato sauce and finished with traditional Cajun seasonings... add in the tri colored sweet pepper strips (cooked perfectly) and you have a very memorable lunch experience. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken smothered in their own version of "creamed gravy" but it was more like a complex Cajun cream sauce, served with Dirty Rice on the side. Again, undeniably delicious. It was perfectly breaded and expertly fried. We ordered quite a few items so we'd have the opportunity to experience some while there, and still have plenty to take home. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone wishing to have an authentic Cajun/Creole style meal.

The I was very surprised to see alligator bites on the kids' menu! My daughter liked them, although I thought they were a little bland. My 9-year-old ordered the Super Jambalaya and absolutely loved it . The kids' catfish looked crispy, and my son's friend really enjoyed it as well. The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was very busy, so it was understandable. Even with the crowd, the servers stayed attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

Well let me start off with the fact they are over an hour away from our home. Considering they have ruined us on any and all other burger and fries, it might become a habit. Husband had the Blackberry Bacon and Blue Cheese Burger. I do not on the norm like blackberries, but on this!!!! The blackberries sweetness stands against the strong overpowering blue cheese and they meld well to make a wonderful tasting combo. I ordered There Goes My Gryo.....how did they get a freaking lamb burger, a very lean meat be that juicy!?!? I dont know but with the peppers, tomato and onion made a fresh hamburger, might be good with some kalamata olive....but I am not complaining. It was delicious. I am picky on my fries and usually dont eat the full amount restaurants serve. I had to stop myself. They are more like a shoestring but not hard or crunchy. Seasoned wonderfully! My suggestion you go in there with a big appetite, grab lots of napkins and be ready to devour the best burger you've ever had!
