Do not use this shop if you want the work done in a timely manner and at a reasonable price! Scott had my 2004 Corvette for 19 months and was unable to resolve the requested problems - oil leak and air conditioner re-installation. Every time I called, Scott for when the work on the car would be done he always had an excuse. Usually, it was for a needed part to be delivered. This went on and on until finally, to have my car returned, I was charged $1746 for who knows what. The oil leak was not fixed and the air conditioner was not installed. How do I put this gently. Scott's work is decent at best, his prices are "pretty good" but has the worst attitude out of any mechanic I've ever encountered. He's unapproachable, and lies about the quotes he gives. He quoted me $218 over the phone for some service work and when I picked up the car he said $330+. I said "what happened to the $218 you quoted me" he said "I didnt tell you that". Mind you I literally wrote it down on a post it note. He then argued by saying "do you know how much this service is at a dealership?". He called me a liar and to top things off he literally called my car a "piece of sh*t". I was like "excuse me". He said its a piece of shit and will break down in the next 10-15k miles. Who the heck says that to a customer? Such an insult and the sad thing is he was reccomended by 2 people to go to him. Well this was the last time im going to scott for mid level work. The savings is not worth the insults. So Scott, if you're reading this (probably not because he's not smart enough to handle modern apps on a smart phone) you're a piece of sh*t, and you lost a really good customer. I can no longer recommend Scott. I had a fuel leak coming off of the tank, you could see it dripping. It looked as though either the rail or return line was the culprit. Scott had my Jeep for 60 days and did nothing but leave the Jeep outside uncovered, he failed to use the cover I provided. He kept saying he was waiting for a fuel line that was back ordered. Had he actually done any investigating he would have found the leak was due to a cracked pump gasket. Due being uncovered, the sun faded the black seats to grey and the level of filth and dust all over the interior and in every crack was disgusting. It took me hours to clean. I dropped off the Jeep at a shop closer to home and 4 hoses and a pump gasket were changed in less than a day. read more

Usually don't write one star reviews often anymore but this place earned it. Took mom's Honda to get her air conditioning fixed but long story short, they didn't even replace anything. The air conditioning stopped working again a few weeks later so my friend who works at Honda Pasadena took a look at the car and said Hank's didn't even replace anything. Quite disappointed to get ripped off -- they probably assumed we didn't know anything. Wanted to come here because it's close to my house but I'll skip and take it further to my friend next time. I went in on Friday at 10 am for a brake check , they took me right in , and said my brakes are good at 70%., they even checked my tires air pressure , and I was out in 20 minutes; and didn't even charge me . If you look up my past reviews of various businesses you will see one in there for Hank's Auto (dated 11/6/2014). I gave it 5 stars back then after my first few experiences with Scott (owner of Hank's?). I took my truck in a few other times after that with no complaints. HOWEVER, either he has begun to take existing customers for granted, or he has completely lost interest in his work, or both. Here's my distressing experience: I was planning a ski trip to Mammoth and I wanted my old, yet still-lovable 1990 4Runner to be in excellent mechanical shape for the 6-hour drive. So, I planned way ahead and brought the truck to Hank's ONE MONTH before my trip to allow for any hurdles, as well as time to order parts if needed. When I dropped the truck off I handed Scott a detailed list (see attached pic; it is exactly what I handed him) of what I'd like for him to look at and fix/replace if necessary. You'll see at the top of the list that I emphasized/prioritized the order of urgency. Given my history with Scott, I didn't ask for an estimate or anything. My mistake. I thought we had a trustworthy relationship at that point, and I also thought giving him the detailed list would save him the trouble of narrowing things down, but I did ask him to let me know the cost of any repairs BEFORE he did any work so that I could make the decision as to whether or not to have it fixed at all. He agreed. One week later, after hearing nothing from him I called to check in. As usual he seemed frazzled, hurried and abrupt/impatient on the phone stating that he is working on getting the heater blower working again. Since this is #4 on the list, I thought it was safe to assume that he had already inspected and/or fixed my steering issues, which is #1 on the list, in ALL CAPS no less. So, with that thought in mind I asked him what the total was at this point, and it was at roughly $240.00. Not bad for the first 4 on the list, right? Well, fast forward to 1 week later (2 weeks now that he's had my 4Runner) and I checked in again. It turns out that he had not even inspected the steering yet (again, #1 on the list!)! I was running out of time before my trip so I scrambled to order parts myself (something that a mechanic that you are paying usually should do, no?) for the steering, and I brought the parts to him when they arrived. This neglect on his part left him only a few days to install the parts before my trip This was the whole reason I brought the truck in one month prior to my trip, AND why steering was priority number one; to order parts if necessary so there's time before my trip for him to order and install them, yet he waited till time was almost up for this...#1 on the list! This experience gets even worse... Remember when I asked him to keep me posted on pricing for repairs? Well he didn't, and when I went to finally pick up my 4Runner Scott handed me a bill for almost $2000!!! This is on top of the money I had already spent on parts that he "couldn't find", yet it took me only 10 minutes on my computer to find & order these parts. That's where my "lost interest in his work" theory comes into play. I have attached a picture of the bill from Hank's; I had to redact some personal info, no offense :-), but you'll still see my first name on the top left for verification that this is all too real. While we're on the subject of the bill, you'll see a few highlighted portions. One says "Not a good idea for a long trip to Mammoth." What!? That was the SOLE purpose of bringing my truck in from the get-go! To MAKE it ready! It's even on the list! You'll also see "hoses need replacing." Why didn't he replace them?! I really wish he had replaced the hoses because within one hour of driving to Mammoth my 4Runner EXPLODED with coolant and I had to have the truck towed back to my friend's place in Redondo Beach, and we all rode to Mammoth in his car. At least we made it to Mammoth, no thanks to Hank's and $2000 (and a few gray hairs) later. When I returned from Mammoth I inspected my truck and found the culprit that caused it to explode. Wouldn't you know it, it was a hose; A hose that he should have replaced per his own suggestion. It literally cost me $2.49 for a hose at Oreilly's auto parts and 5 minutes for me to replace the hose! He had my truck for a MONTH! Ridiculous. It takes a tremendous amount of disappointment for me to write a negative review about a business, but as you can infer from my experience, this was somewhat of an "over the top" series of disappointments and second/third chances. I therefore felt a sense of duty to perhaps spare others (you) the mental anguish that I experienced due to Scott's (Hank's) overall lack of service, commitment, and know-how when it came to my old, basic and therefore easy-to-work-on 4Runner. Due to the latter, I will be doing the work myself at this point so that I don't have to go through this again. read more

Horrible service I walked in to get my hood open because I felt like it was stuck and the lever wouldn't open at all so he takes a look mind you he's not the nicest person immediately I didn't even get the guys name he has like a white and blue stripped shirt and was always on the phone anyways he checks the lever and says it's broken and needs to repaired for $140 dollars!!! I call the good ole' Lightfoots garage the next block over and they open the hood and close it and it worked fine!!! The mechanic looked at the car right away and topped off the fluid which helped the clutch to pop back up. He did this at no charge. This was kind of a surreal experience considering how auto repairs are now. I was not to happy with my previous mechanic. The check engine light came on in my daughter's car. Our previous mechanic told me that the problem was one or more of 4 sensors. A critter had chewed through some wires. He told me I needed to replace all 4 sensors and the parts alone would be abut $400 and then labor I had someone else diagnose the car and two of the sensors were showing as not working and they told me which sensors they were. I have always heard good things about Hank's so I took the car there. One of the sensors was bad and had to be replaced. Now this is what is crazy in this day and age..... they repaired the wire for the other sensor instead of replacing the entire thing. It works perfectly and only cost $25.00. Wow, a mechanic that that didn't screw me over when he easily could have. The car passed smog and we are very happy. I spent $165.00 when it would have been at least $500 with our previous mechanic. read more

I have to say that Scott is a very nice gentleman. I was very Impressed with the service and pricing. Very fair and complete. Scott found all the issues I pointed out, Called and let me know what he needed to do and gave me a fair price to fix(no gouging here). He went out of his way to get the parts and had my Edge back to me in a very timely manner. When I picked up Scott and I talked for a little bit. I know he is a very busy guy but the fact that he had time to go over and chat says quite a bit about his character. Hard to find people these days that are Honest, Right and just in their ways.
