We saw the reviews and decided to come here since it was in the same vicinity. Upon entering we were immediately welcomed and overwhelmed. So many cheesecakes, which one do we chose?!! The selection is amazing, but considering we needed to keep it generic due to party guests likes, we stuck with the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. 9" was $35 with taxes. It was AMAZING! Far better than TCF! It had a chocolate crust, they decorated it all pretty for us and everyone loved it. While we were there they had some appetizer cheesecakes to try with crackers-the tomato basil one was amazing! We won't hesitate to come back here. The best cheesecake I've ever had! My daughter sent me one for my birthday and it was incredible!

I've loved cheesecake since I was as little as I can remember. However, after quite a bit of traveling and a few years under my belt I've realized not only do I love cheesecake but I love a specific kind of cheesecake. My style is semi-sweet, creamy, yet thick and dense enough to stay leftover on your utensil. I am here to tell you - Hank's Cheesecake did NOT disappoint! If you are like me with your cheesecake preferences, you likely hate Cheesecake Factory. I can assure you that Hank's is far better than the Cheesecake Factory and you will be in love with their product after just one bite! Not to mention, they have a WIDE variety of flavors to choose from. A couple negative things I would like to share in hope to improve Hank's future business would be: 1) In regard to wedding clients, forget any and all personalization for your big day. My entire wedding was custom - down to the Wedding Programs. This was not to be different for my Wedding Cake either - I wanted Cheesecake and Ice Cream Cake, rather the traditional "Wedding Cake". With that, I didn't want to compromise the presentation of my cake because of the non-traditional route I took. All personalized requests were immediately rejected, to include but not limited to: Square Cakes, Swirly Design of Icing Decoration, and Special Ribbon (outside of their Silver or Gold options). Now, the square cakes I can understand especially after confirming the level of baking difficulty with my Executive Chef. But, the swirly design rather splatter shouldn't have been an issue. The pearl & champagne colored ribbon shouldn't have been an issue either. I mean at least a commitment to check with her supervisor would have been a practice of customer service than just "NO". Overall, my cake looked fantastic thanks to my awesome Cake Topper... 2) If you are an out-of-state wedding client, don't bother unless you have a ridiculously high level of tolerance and patience. It felt like I was a chore to the store by asking them to email me rather call. Being in a different time zone and utilizing more vendors than the average Bride, I **needed** the email trail to help jog my memory and for a reference later on. This was a struggle the entire time. In order to book my date and finalize my cake, I had to send two different people to go in person and sign papers. They wouldn't accept any signed documents via email, snail mail OR fax. Seriously!? And if I remember correctly, they wouldn't take credit card either, so I had to send someone in for a check payment. Hank's: your profitability would be sooo much higher if you worked with your wedding clients a bit more fitting to today's society and generation! read more

Holy Hanks! It's probably a good thing these cheesecakes aren't the most affordable. Because if they were, I'm not sure I could maintain a balanced diet anymore. Hanks makes luscious, creamy cheesecakes (lactose intolerant people beware, but I guarantee you they're worth all the lactase pills you need). Dense and rich, every bite melts in your mouth with a heavenly goodness. If you're not a straight cheesecake kind of person, try the tiramisu cheesecake - it has a layer of cappucino cheesecake, a cake layer, and then a thin layer of standard cheesecake on top. It's a delicious and stunning presentation; my only minor complaint is that the rum flavor in the cake isn't quite prominent enough. The only reason Hank's is short of a 5 star review for me is the price: a 9-inch cheesecake is $35. I popped in on a weekday afternoon to try the cheesecake sampler. While there, I talked myself into also getting a slice of the mango lemon cheesecake as well as the snickers cheesecake. (I had previously tried a full-sized slice of the plain cheesecake and it was heaven on a plate.) The mango-lemon cheesecake was absolutely perfect. (The owner recommended it and I can't thank him enough for the suggestion!) Chocolate and nut lovers will appreciate the snickers cheesecake. And the various flavors in the sampler were great . . . My first experience with Hank' s was pretty good. I stopped in to pick up a round cheesecake and a few dozen minis (because they are tiny) for my son's graduation. We didn't order ahead, just took what they had and it was pretty good. My other son decided he wanted Hank's for his birthday. We ordered ahead to get exactly what he wanted, but ended up with not at all what he wanted because "they didn't do" certain flavors in certain sizes. $85 later we ended up with a half sheet of snickers 6 each of four different flavors of minis. We went to pick it up and were told the didn't have one or two (can't remember, sorry) flavors of the minis. We ordered weeks ahead if time so I'm not sure why and there wad no explanation. Strike one. We went to pay and the realized the cash register was out of paper, so we had to wait literally 20 minutes for the to run across the street to OfficeMax to get paper. Strike two. We get it all home and open the huge box that contained the half sheet and we all gasped almost in unison. The cheesecake, with filling and crust, was literally 3/4 of an inch (maybe less?) tall! We were all really surprised as we expected it to be as tall as the round cakes. Huge dissapointnent. Strike three. If it had tasted amazing, I might not be writing this. Honestly, it was very bland. Almost like eating straight cream cheese. It lacked sweetness and any hint of any of the flavors in a Snickers bar, or any actual Snickers bits. I couldn't even taste any chocolate in the crust. The minis were okay. The best flavor, one we didn't order but substituted for one they didn't bother to make, was the praline. The other flavors were just meh. It can be a bit pricey, but this is a locally owned place, and the ingredients are fresh. I tried the dozen sampler pack. Some flavors were better than others. It depends on your personal taste buds. I also tried the Angel Wings (which I accidentally called "Turtle Wings" because they are like a frozen cheesecake version of DeMet's Turtles ). Those were so good and indulgent! The sampler is under $12, and I'm sure you can customize it. The Angel Wings are $5, but it is a large portion, and they are delicious. I love Mexican hot chocolate, so I definitely want to try the Ibarra chocolate flavored one next time because there will be a next time. Go see a movie, cross the street, have a shrimp po' boy, then walk in next door for some delicious dessert. read more

My family always eats Hanks during holidays and special events. My dad has diabetes and the selection of sugar-free cheesecakes has been a lifesaver for him. Every holiday we order two sugar-free cheesecakes (usually the plain and the blueberry) and two regular (the key lime and eggnog are our favorites). Hanks is a STL staple that I will always go to. I just had my FIRST Hank's Cheesecake. It was chocolate chip and it was amazing. I did share it with my daughters but... WOW. Light and airy with a perfect mix of chips with cheesecake. Some/most melted in your mouth but there were a few that still gave a bit of chunky feel. I've already decided, it's what I want for my birthday. June 29th if anyone wants to get me one. For their cheesecakes, I would give them a 5, for their customer service deserves a 2! We ordered three of their incredible cakes and a plain cheesecake for our 50th anniversary party! I later decided that I wanted something resembling a wedding cake, so I called back and ordered a 2-tier white chocolate raspberry cake. The service woman asked me if I wanted the cake holder, and I said that I was sure my son had something he had gotten as a wedding gift that we could use. At no time did she say that the holder was baked into the cake! When I called back 10 days later to say that we would pay the deposit for the cake holder so that would have one less thing to take to the venue, there was still no mention that the holder was built into the cake. When the cake was delivered, I asked the venue about the cake holder, and they said none was delivered, so they put it on one of their serving platters. I called Hanks on Monday to tell them that the cake holder was not delivered, and they said someone would have to call me back on Tuesday. I had to call back Tuesday, and it was then that I was told that the holder was built into the cake to hold the tier and since it had been discarded at the venue, we would be out the $150 deposit we had given (for a piece of plastic that might have cost $20). They then tried to blame the venue by saying they should have known what the cake holder was. I have ordered several tiered cakes in my lifetime, and the cake tier holders were always built into the price of the cake! I am just glad the cake wasn't more than 2 tiers, or we would have been out even more. The cakes were delicious, but Hanks didn't even have the courtesy to call my husband back. read more

He won't ask you to come again. There is no chit chatting here or small talk-which is all cool too. I'm all about A to B and understand about not wanting to be bothered when busy, etc...however, I was saying hello, asking how it was going, establishing rapport, I wasn't asking how his family was, or how his last dump went or telling him how my last dump was because his carrot cake was so moist. The robot/monotone behavior is a turnoff and the atmosphere is a stuff-bucket. Although the desserts are probably the best in Stl, I'd question myself about going back because of the "I know "Hanks" has the best desserts and you love them, and will come back even tho I'm a robot and don't care if you do or not" attitude. I'm talking same attitude on two separate day's, weeks apart, one Fri, one Sat. One time in reg clothes the next in uniform. Well, he's consistent! My mom brought home a heart shaped strawberry cheesecake from Hank's one year for Valentine's Day, and I've been in love with their cheesecakes ever since. The cheesecakes are not overly sweet, not too dense, and they melt in your mouth. I could probably finish an entire strawberry cheesecake by myself if I tried hard enough. The ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! I ordered a cake for my bridal shower in February for July. I was given a price of $163.87 which included the delivery and deposit to make the cake. When I was notified two weeks from the date of the shower, they did not have information on the cake I wanted. So I sent Sarah a picture of the cake. Then the week of the Shower I called to get the balance so my Bridesmaids could finish the payment. At that time I was told by Sarah that my balance was $163.87, which I questioned. Long story short I ended up paying the additional $65 in which they took out $75 instead. I immediately sent a screenshot of the withdraw to Sarah who stated, "we will refund you $75 instead of $65 when you return the cake stand. My cake was scheduled to be delivered at 2:30 it didn't get there until 3:00. I dropped off the cake stand and was told there was no one there to write me a check so I called the next day. They asked if I wanted the check mailed, I stated no I will pick up in 10 minutes. I get there and they give me a check for $65,I state no it should be $75 and showed Hank the text from Sarah. He would not honor there mistake and then threw $5 to me and said, " we'll compromise" because we didn't charge you for a delivery fee. I will NEVER order anything from them again!!! very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE starting with the owner!!!! read more
