Awful. I would pass on going here. The cocktails are good, and the ambiance is interesting. The food is mediocre and the wait staff is terrible. We ordered two cocktails, and a pizza for a quick bite. Our waitress was incredibly rude, and barely looked us in the eye- Very inattentive and incredibly impersonal . No one came back to our table after being served. We had to track down the manager to get our check who acted as though it was inconvenient for him. Very disappointing for us. read more

Part of this high review is just having a wonderful place to walk to in downtown Phoenix - finally - but part of it is also that it genuinely is good. Hanny's is my new favorite restaurant/bar in Arizona. Why it doesn't get five stars across the board is beyond me. Great ambience, superbly designed, great pizzas, well made drinks, friendly bar-staff, open late, unique cocktail choices, and it's not that expensive! I loved this place! We went for my birthday, with 25 people & the service was excellent! Our drinks never went empty & our server was great. The portions are pretty big so the prices are reasonable. I got the standard BLT & loved the bacon they put on it. The martinis are small but powerful! I would reccomend this place to everyone!! read more

Just go!! This restaurant is super chic, fabulous cocktails, and they slice your prosciutto at the bar right in front of you, very fresh, very good. (They had me at meat and chesse platter.) Unfortunately, this place either has not "caught on" or no one knows about it. I was there on a first Friday and it was not very busy. Everyone I have brought loves it and I think you will too. I love Hanny's in part because of its location. This is my favorite meeting place if I am attending a function at one of the downtown arenas. They are good at getting people in and out, and it's a nice enough environment that I love to just hang. Their food was good...not crazy amazing, but good...solid. I'd say the same about the drinks. I love the open spaces, decor and big, long bar. This is one of my top nightime choices for the heart of downtown Phoenix. read more

One of my favorite hangouts in downtown Phoenix! Hanny's never disappoints! My friends and I usually visit on Friday or Saturday nights when they have a DJ. My sisters and I went to Hanny's for my birthday this past weekend. After reading multiple reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I was a little concerned and not sure if I wanted to go to Hanny's after all. We walked in about 10:00pm and the restaurant was busy! We dined here with some friends because of a recommendation of an out of town friend who just stumbled upon it while he was in town on business. Friday night...super f****** loud but I'm not 60 years old so who cares. After a night of drinking I came here for food and water. I ordered the veggie sandwich with a half and half side of onion strings and pistachio coleslaw. The sandwich was OK, but the ciabatta bread was super soft and delicious. Coleslaw was suuuper good. Onion strings were just OK. Tasted more like grease than anything else. Atmosphere and aesthetic is interesting and pleasing. Been here a few times. The food and drinks are always great. Dirty martinis are only $5 and the prosciutto is a must have every time we come. This last Friday we (15 of us) stopped here after a baseball game thinking there would be no tables because it's super busy.. But we discovered the top floor was open seating and there's a small bar where you can order drinks and food. It was great. No wait and it's spacious. We hung out and people watched from the balcony. I personally love this place. I love the food, their cute DJ with the big hair and the music. It is rare to find places like this in AZ. If you like a diverse crowd or people who have to park their cars behind the building or in a deck so there is no chance to be pretentious, this is your place. Pizzas... amazing. I can't get enough of this place. It's a renovated department store in downtown. They kept all the good "vintage" parts, and renovated the rest. Such a hip vibe...beautiful people...good food. And the meat! They hand slice the prosciutto to order at the bar! Hubs and I had the bar snack plate. Delish. Although I will say the quality of bread could be improved- it was a bit dry and boring. We usually don't order more than the meat plate. This time we also shared the Margarita pizza. The crust was tortilla-thin and crispy. Perfecto! Just like we like it!! Environment is interesting - a complex of enticing and conflicting. The food was not exceptional unfortunately.

40 minutes and counting for a refill on water and to even order any food. The rest of the table got their drinks, other tables (seated after us) got their drinks and ordered. Finally after 45 minutes and asking twice the water glass was refill...once. It seems there is a policy against leaving a pitcher at the table, so a no win situation. We ordered 70 minutes after being seated. Our food came 25 minutes later. We asked for our check and said we need to leave right now. 15 minutes later we got our cards back. The food...mediocre steak (overcooked, ordered medium and first cut showed no pink at all) with 5 small potato wedges. Certainly not worth the $25 paid. Sad to say, but better service can be had at any fast food joint and Outback can at least get the temperature right. read more

We stopped for lunch here between museum visits. Great lunch -yummy pizzas and salads. Pizzas were thin crust and well seasoned. Salads had a ton of toppings - with right amount of dressing. The problem with this place is that they hyped it as "THE OWNERS OF AZ88...." yadda yadda yadda. Well, if you're going to reference AZ88, they you better have great drinks and (at least) good bar food. This place has neither. The drinks are TINY. The food is average at best. And the "design" of the place is very boring...and BEIGE. This space could of been a total knockout, but it misses the mark on so many levels. The service was ok, the bartenders were HORRIBLE. We went to dinner there on a Sunday and we were the only ones in there for most of our dinner. Downtown Phoenix can be somewhat quiet on the weekends, so this was no surprise. The service was great as was the food. I had a pizza and if you like thin, crispy crust you will enjoy the pizza as well. The music was a little loud for a Sunday dinner, especially since we were pretty much the only ones in the restaurant. Love this place! From the neat building to the good food, and 1950s cocktails this place is a gem! Great place to go for a business dinner, date or a girls night. Gone on some nights when the Dj spins from above and have really enjoyed the ambience . My dinner there usually consists of the bar plate to start and a pizza and you can't go wrong with that. I really enjoyed Hanny's. I never paid attention to the place but now that I've been, I am a fan. It is spacious inside with various types of seating - you can be at a table, a booth, by the bar or at one of the multiple social areas scattered throughout the floor. The place looks a bit like a converted theater with a DJ on the 2nd level where you can see him through an opening in the wall. There is some cool art around the restaurant too. There is also an old shaft-looking corner with a glass floor that looks quite cool. I loved the modern yet low-key relaxed vibe that attracts a diverse crowd. The food and drinks did not disappoint. I only had a veggie pizza with a glass of wine but both were delicious. I definitely would like to come back to enjoy more Hanny's. The only thing that is a pain for anything downtown is the parking, but otherwise it is a lovely lovely place! read more

Visited Hanny's at least once a week during the few year stretch I lived downtown. Without question, they have one of the best thin-crust pizzas you'll ever experience. For me, it is the best there is (as in #1), and I haven't found anything that comes close. Pizza aside, everything on the menu is fantastic. The ambiance of the place is solid for a date, an evening with friends, but maybe not a spot to go with family unless it's before 8pm on a weekday. Finally, the servers, collectively, are among the best in the downtown area. Busy or not, you'll be taken care of. After I defended my dissertation, I stopped in with friends to celebrate, and even though it was packed they managed to respond to a phone-call request from my out-of-state girlfriend who wanted to buy me a celebratory drink. First time trying Hanny's this past week and overall it was a nice experience. I love the building and history behind it. We received very fast and great service. The pizza's are great, I love the really thin almost cracker like crust. The roast beef sandwich was a good lunch and perfect portion. I will certainly return again. read more

This place is great. Hip, cool, good value, nice, relaxed. Go. Go to this restaurant. Food is great. Wine was good. So nice to find while staying at the Hyatt nearby. Lots of martinis on the bar being enjoyed slowly by the patrons. NYC would have had three in the time they were on the bar but the fact that men and women were drinking them here speaks to the sophistication of the establishment. It's open late. Advertises 1:30 am. Bartender said this is where all the industry come after they are done. Service industry as in waiters and bartenders. The venue is cool. Apparently, the building is a landmark for being the most modern department store of its time of the forties. (According to the bartender.) They preserved a lot of the architecture and made it hip. Reminds me of South Beach in many ways. Check it out. Oh, and yes, gays and alternatives are here alongside the straights. read more
