I have had numerous issues with the service department at Hanover Powersports over the last few years. This last issue has caused me to vow never to return here and seek my motorcycle service needs elsewhere. What should have been a simple task for them turned into a huge failure. I made an appointment over a month in advance. Brought my bike in and asked for an oil change. I inquired about a detail service and was told it could be done in 2 days. Perfect. I said do the oil change and call me tomorrow to let me know what else the bike needs so that I could decide if I want to spend $150 on the detail cleaning service. The next day...no call. The following day....no call. I tried calling and was forced to leave a message after several attempts to talk to anyone in the service department. The next day (day 3) still no return call. I call again. The service manager (Tom) was confused and was provided incorrect info about someone else's bike. He then said he would call me back in "5 minutes". No call back that day. Closed for the next two. Finally, I got a call from the service coordinator (Will) who said the bike had been detailed and the oil change done...$550. I said I didn't authorize the detail because I was never called to discuss these charges. When I explained to Will how Tom had never called back, the response was "Wow, that's effed up." He didn't seem very surprised by his boss' incompetence and lack of integrity. I asked to talk to manager and I was told, "call back and ask for the sales department. Then ask to speak to Jesse. If I try to get the manager you'll wait forever." I took this to mean, Jesse doesn't care about the service department and only cares about sales and the money. I would soon find out. I did just that and got Jesse on the phone. I explained the situation to him and was treated like a liar. He didn't even ask Tom what happened. He accused me of being rude and said this was because I didn't have an appointment, which I did. In the end, he did absolutely nothing. The kicker is when I picked up the bike, the work order they had me sign said "call for work approval". I have bought two motorcycles from this dealer totaling over $40,000 and this is the treatment. Disgusting. Jesse couldn't even be bothered to apologize for the experience in person (nor over the phone). To be honest, he comes across and a spoiled brat who's inheriting a business that he will soon ruin. It's a shame. I guess I'll move on to Honda Corporate office to see if there is any chance for customer service left within Honda Powersports. read more

Worse dealership I've ever dealt with. I warn you all DO NOT take your motorcycle here for service unless you want your motorcycle back without motor oil in it and not shifting correctly. I have a 2021 Honda Goldwing that had a recall for the bolt replacement. I took it to Hanover to have the recall done there dealing with the service manager Jesse. The technician failed to put the motor oil back into the engine and not only did he forget that, he didn't complete the recall properly which is causing my 2021 Honda Goldwing which I purchased brand new not to shift properly and impossible to find neutral. Shifting from first gear to second gear feels like I'm about to break the shifter and down shifting is impossible. I have to stay on second gear at a red light and release clutch on second gear. My Goldwing was there for two months for this recall and every time I would call they would have an excuse that the part is on backorder to a point where they stopped answering my phone calls. Till one day, Jesse, the service manager called me telling me that my bike is done and ready for pick up. I picked up my bike rode 30 miles to my home once I reached my destination the motor oil light came on. I checked the dipstick completely dry. The service department has very horrible communication very and horrible customer service and most importantly, horrible service technicians. I opened the case with Honda America in order to take my bike to another service department in order for the damages to be covered under the warranty. We've always been happy with their service in the past. Brought my snowblower in for service in early February. My fault for not doing it before snow season. It took two weeks to be completed, which I understood as they had lots of snowblowers to deal with. Now it's two snows ater and it's done. My problem is with the pickup and delivery service. We use that because we don't have a truck. Pickup was fine, but when our snowblower was "ready for pickup" their truck was being repaired. A week later, it still is. They may get it back tomorrow, but now their driver has quit. His replacement is expected to start on March 12. That's pretty much AFTER this year's need. Big disappointment, read more

I bought a KTM GENUINE TOOLBOX LARGE TOOLS 3/8 RACHET SOCKETS 60 PIECES let's say five years back and I rarely use it but the ratchet lost a housing screw (there are two screws that hold the head of the ratchet together). I went to Mike and he checked with the manager to see if they can help me. I wanted them to get KTM to send over the specialty screw. A KTM rep would clearly do this. Nope! Management told Mike to tell me to go to Home Depot. So, the the price of a tiny screw I would have customers buy elsewhere. i just bought a brand new dirt for my son, abo a month ago, aft putting about ten hours on it I was going over the bike and heard a noise in the front wheel, I pulled it apart and the front wheel bearings were seizing due to beinf installed improperly and not greased from the factory, I called Hanover power sports and was told the bike wasn't under warranty and I could either purchase new bearings or have them fix it. I've spent over $30k with them and they wouldn't even try to make it right by at least giving me a set of bearings that would have cost them a few dollars, but cost me a $145 from somewhere else. My husband went to this store today. We are very upset. If you're a person of color, do not go here. His review: I gave this place a raving review several years ago, but my recent experience with Johnson Schumacher made me reconsider my initial recommendations. While waiting patiently for my turn, Johnson engaged and assisted two white customers who arrived 10 minutes after me. After he took care of the two gentlemen, he decided again to walk away from the parts counter as if I wasn't there or did not exist. There was no acknowledgment of any kind. Johnson proceeded to treat me with indifference as if I was less of a customer than the two white gentlemen that came in after me. BTW, the last gentleman that came in after me needed the same exact part for his snow blower - shear bolts. Johnson gave that customer 6 bolts for "FREE." Johnson over charged me $34.85 for 10 bolts. I'm not asking for free parts, but you can see Johnson's indifference toward me. He threatened not to sell me the part if I continued to shake my head in disbelief of how he was handling the situation. He asked me where I was from and when I told him Livingston, he started to apologize which made me angrier. So what if I'm from Livingston! What if I was from Newark. Racism is Racism! Indifference is indifference! I don't recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are a person of color. Been using them since I moved to East Hanover over 20 years ago. For a few years they moved down 10 into whippany but are now back in East Hanover. I purchased my Honda mower, snowblower and weed wacker from them. I also purchased my Stihl saw from them. Today I needed parts for my saw. I needed a new chain. I arrived and told them my model number of saw. They couldn't find me in the system but it didn't stop them. They looked up the saw and found the chain size. I asked about changing the bar and another sales man said if the lower teeth are showing through. He asked if I had the saw. I said I'd go get it. I'm only 5 min away. I cam07936@gmail.com back with the saw and he suggested but did not push getting a new bar. He said the teeth are fine on the lower part but it's showing some signs of heat damage. I decided to get both. To my surprise, the removed the old bar and chai. And replaced both right there in front of me. They adjusted the tension and I was good to go. Today, the day before a snow storm and four months later, I went to the store in person. I was told they had learned 5 days ago that it was never going to be available but were too busy to call. George tried to sell me a more expensive product and would not agree to any discount or compensation for the poor service/communication over the past 4 months. There are two levels of the building, the upstairs is more geared towards motorcycles and downstairs is more geared towards dirtbikes. The whole downstairs is KTM heaven and I must admit I'm actually starting to get more interested in the sport myself, but don't tell my boyfriend that.The selection here is on point when it comes to gear. The employees that work here are the best and so helpful with any questions you may have regarding everything from a to z. I got 3 quotes on the same bike and the quote from Hanover Powersports was by far the lowest. The salesperson Jesse is super knowledgeable and professional. He will do everything in his power to get you the best deal. And it's a family run business, so they're not about ripping people off. I also need to point out that this was the only dealership where I was treated like a human being, and not completely dismissed because I'm a woman. If you're a woman you might've noticed that it's kind of hard to be taken seriously at a motorcycle dealership-- but I'm really happy to say that this place isn't like that. Ok lemme explain something about this business, I have been to my share of motorcycle dealerships. This place is one of the most friendliest places and super quick to respond to any issues. I dealt with Amy my whole transition in coming from Cross Country powersports who I can tell you will take 9 days to get the bike ready to go. I told her I was coming in a couple days to pick up the bike, BOOM it was ready. Its really far away and wish it was a little closer due to me getting aftermarket parts on it and service. I guess its a small price to pay for picking up a bike at a fast place. Its not a super big place and very compact, but they have a very very big inventory selection. I purchased the KTM Super Duke 1290 and was super happy with it. I didnt even test ride it as I knew what I wanted to get from the get go. I can tell you that first hand I had a very good experience and in the future will be buying another bike from them. I prefer their speed of setting up a brand new bike vs cc in metuchen. Went to this dealership to trade in my Honda rebel 500 for a rebel 1100, my husband was the one who ride my 500 into the dealer, the sales manager Jessy was not the friendliest, he treats you like he's doing do you a favor instead of making a sale , he asked for the motorcycle title even tho he knew the bike was still being pay for and had a lien on it, he continued to argued with husband that we should have a title regardless and he did that for a living and knew better when in reality if you have a lien on your bike, there's no title the bank has it. After the trade-in it took them longer then 3 weeks to paid off my old loan and I ended up with two loans one for the 500 and one for the 1100 only after calling them twice they sent payment in. Also my plates were supposed to be transfer to the new bike and they didn't do that either, when I called today after a month of my temp tag and registration being expired cause they never called me to let me know if my new registration was in, they told my they just got them in ( I purchase my bike in September) and that it was plate and registration because they never transfer my old plate like they said they did. I submitted an inquiry via the Honda Powersports website for a Rebel 1100 DCT and three dealerships were contacted. Reid from Hanover Powersports was timely with his response and was the first one to get back to me. I went into the store a few days later, submitted the deposit, and a few months after that, Jesse calls to let me know that the bike had arrived. I went in, selected the options for the bike and less than week later, I went back to drop off the check. By then, all the options had arrived and were already installed on the bike. I signed a few documents, the delivery date was scheduled, and I received the bike just a few days later. This was the most straightforward, seamless, and hassle-free experience I ever had at any dealership. The entire staff, but particularly Jesse and Reid (and the finance rep whose name I cannot recall) were extremely helpful. Registration, license plate, and lien processing were all handled quickly. In summary, I was very happy with my overall experience and would recommend Hanover Powersports to anyone looking to purchase a bike. I also love my Rebel 1100! I ordered a lower unit drive shaft for a Yamaha boat motor from the on eBay. the order was placed on the 24th of sept and delivery was supposed to be by the 6th of oct. on 6 October I spoke with their person that handles eBay and asked where my order was. he replied it was sitting next to the door and ups hadn't picked it up and that things happen, if I had a problem with that it was my problem not his. after a few minutes I received a update that the label had been printed. so I waited till the following Tuesday to call and speak with a manager. while speaking with the manager he informed me that they didn't even have the part and they had refunded me the money paid. so the eBay person had blatantly lied to me and had zero accountability. read more

My bike, a 2015 Honda Goldwing F6B, was purchased at this dealership. Other than having them change tires for me, I do my own maintenance (oil changes, brakes, and fluids). When I wanted to have my front shocks serviced, I chose to have it done professionally to ensure it was done correctly. On pickup, they broke my coolant tank and crushed the belly pan when taking the bike off the lift so I left it with them to repair the bike. This seemed to have been an accident, but in hindsight, more like incompetence. On second pickup, after returning home I noticed the left exhaust shield was incorrectly installed, the wire that goes into the center of the steering head was routed incorrectly and pushed up the plastic shield, and on the bottom side of the triple tree a small shield was missing a screw and was just tucked under. I had asked to have a different mechanic go over the job and check the install out leaving the bike there yet again. On third pickup, I thought all was well. On a ride to Penn's Peak, a twisty road, I discovered that the throttle cable was routed incorrectly. On a hard right turn to lock position, the throttle pinned and almost threw me into oncoming traffic. Luckily, I pulled the clutch in to avoid an accident. Once home, I pulled the top plastics off to see what was going on. The throttle cables were routed over the triple tree, not through it between the fork tubes. This caused the throttle cables to bind. Once the top was opened, I could also see the fork tubes were remounted at different heights (5mm and 15mm). All of this is very obvious once the plastics are off. With all this, I have lost confidence that these guys can do anything right. This reflects an overall lack of competence with no pride in their work. As a result, I'm forced to either do these repairs myself or find another mechanic. Honda does not have many qualified service dealers in NJ and the existing ones are booked for appointments, so it's likely I'll be working on this myself. In the interest of full disclosure, I did alert the dealership to my situation. They expressed remorse, said they were addressing the problem, but couldn't offer a better solution other than to bring it back to them. It therefore seems to me that Honda corporate needed to be apprised of the situation. read more

I bought a new Yamaha, but bit off more than I could chew. After 25 years of riding a Harley, I jumped onto an MT10 and after 100 miles I knew I was on the wrong bike. I went back to Jesse the store manager and told him what had happened. He said I definitely bought the wrong bike. Even though they didn't have to they took the bike back with a fee and I got the wheels I was meant to be on. That's how you create return clientele. read more

The service was absolutely lousy. I got a big run around the sales. People didn't look like they wanna be bothered being that they sell steals stuff for your power, lawnmower or edger. I ask one of the sales rep. He look like that he did not wanna be bothered so he sent me downstairs and they didn't look like they want to be bothered so I looked around this is the worst experience I've ever had in a business what worst service I ever saw sales people though don't wanna be bothered with your customers what kind of business is that if I am in the market for a motorcycle I want to go to motorcycle Mall in Belleville New Jersey, at least you get good service stare that was a giant big waste of my time I feel bad whoever goes there to get your bike repaired or even get a part for there for their lawn mower or edge edger or even for a bike. I came here to buy some sport bike gear, but there really wasn't anything to see. I had to order a jacket and gloves site unseen and I would have preferred to see what I buy. I came here years ago and bought a helmet, I had a much better experience. Now, The place has an excellent showroom and the people there are really nice. This seems like a really great place to buy dirtbike gear. They also seem to have a decent selection of helmets. Good price ranges. They have dirtbikes, sportbikes, it's heaven. Lots of dirtbike gear, helmets, cruiser gear, but not much sportbike stuff on site. They can order you anything though, and it's reasonable. On April 23 2018 I took my Stihl chain saw to Hanover Sports because it would not start. Kieth, in service charged me $50 to "diagnose and estimate". A reasonable charge. On May 1 I picked up the saw and was told the cylinder was scored and there was excessive by pass, the saw was not repairable and needed to be replaced. I followed up by sending the saw to another repair shop who said all it needed was a carburetor adjustment. He made the adjustment and now the saw runs fine. I called Kieth unsuccessfully several times to tell him my experience and left a message which he never returned. I believe they were not interested in repairing my saw but ONLY WANTED TO SELL ME A NEW CHAIN SAW! I would never use this facility again read more

I called in February to have my two motorcycles worked on. I told them in detail the work I would like to have done and set up an appointment for the motorcyles to be picked up at my home on 3/24. On the day of the appointment, they never showed and never called. I called them the next day and they said they were too busy and wanted me to reschedule for mid-May AND I was told they could not do the work that was originally agreed upon. My response was NO THANKS. I DO NOT recommend them, stay away if you can. If you do not stand by your commitments you should not be in business! read more

The service department sucks here, I asked them to service my bike and when I picked it up the new battery that I asked for was indeed the old battery so my bike stalled on my way home. When I returned to with the battery service claimed I never asked for one, to which my response was you would let a women ride out with a old battery you knew would die? (He thought that was funny) Also, the oil change that I asked for never happened. Basically, I paid $200 to get a lever fixed. I have never seen such a disorganized unreliable service department. i have had my bike in for repairs since August and it is now October 6th and I was told as of this morning it was getting delivered today(we will see). I have been given three other delivery dates weeks apart 9/20, 9/27, 10/4 and have been following up with Keith twice a week and every time it was a different reason why it wasnt ready. At one point i was told that all the parts were in and just needed to be put on however that was never true because i told them to deliver it as is with the missing aftermarket parts. Long story short they sre disorganized, unprofessional and dont seem to keep up with commitments made with customers.
