Such a great girls day seeing "The Cottage" starring my BILs cousin, Becca Blacksten! Great job!!

What a nice, cozy little theatre!! Loved the quaint atmosphere! Definitely worth the experience!!

We attended a pop up bar/show called Shipwreck Saloon here this past weekend. We weren't sure what to expect but you always have a vision in your head. Well, it was nothing like the vision I had and when it began, I thought I would be disappointed but I am glad to say I wasn't. It was a simple stage and the best way to describe it is a 4 part story telling about the life of a pirate who opened Shipwreck Saloon. It was entertaining and funny and there was some hilarious audience participation. In between the 4 parts, a different rum cocktail was served which were good. I would recommend this show if you find it in your area. It was something different for an evening out and was entertaining!

We recently held a gala of about 120ish people for a small non profit. The staff were helpful and kind. The food was hot and delicious. We needed in a little early and it wasn't an inconvenience. We requested coffee service late notice and were met with wonderful professionalism and help! Shout out to Krissy & her staff. Thank you Hanover Tavern for being so lovely! We would definitely use this venue again. --Millie's Home

A fun night out to see a show in the theater and have dinner. So nice you can do both here. The food was really good and we love the small intimate nature of the theater. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Limited parking in the lot for a busy night but plenty of parking across the street. Well made cocktails as well.

Very cool ambiance and I enjoyed learning some of the history. The food was fantastic. I had the oyster Benedict and it was absolutely delicious. Service is very slow, but we also had a big party on a busy Sunday brunch timeframe. The server was very nice, but just not necessarily in a hurry. I loved learning some of the history of the building. They were hosting a bridal show later that day, so they were just beginning to set up for that, as well. There were lots of things on the menu that looked absolutely delicious. Pricing was reasonable, if not a little expensive, but the quality of the food was top notch. Everyone in my party was satisfied with their meals.

First, I checked out the menu that is posted on the wall, and tried to make the right decision. EVERYTHING is homemade. Ok, I decided on the Tuna Salad on a white homemade yeast roll. You can select one side, so I had cucumber, tomato and onion salad. I couldn't pass up on fresh lemonade and a slice of one of the most delicious coconut pie I've ever had. The lady that took my order was soooo sweet and of course knowledgeable of the menu. I didn't feel rushed, just relaxed. Soooo we had the most interesting conversation that concluded her parents knew my mother back in the day. I didn't expect tears of joy at lunch. It was lovely! I didn't get her name, but I'll never forget her until I return with friends and family to experience this "small town" treasure. Ok, the food. The roll was golden brown, soft and screamed HomeMade. It was filled with a white flaky and well seasoned tuna salad, topped with fresh crunchy shredded lettuce. YUM ! The cucumber, grape tomato and onion salad had a lite vinaigrette dressing. Fresh !! There is freshly made strawberry lemonade, lemonade, Iced tea and the Pepsi fountain drink products. Ok, the star of the show. That slice of coconut pie was Perfect. The crust was brown, very flaky and filled with a thick creamy coconut filling. This little cute old town restaurant is next to the railroad track and train station that's across from Randolph Macon College. It's popular to the students and residents of Ashland. If you would like A DELICIOUS Lunch in a warm and cute small town restaurant, come to Homemade's by Suzanne!!!! Thank you

Several times, Joshua has waited our table and his service is so commendable that we have personally requested him when we've returned. However, our experience at the bar tonight was actually what spawned this review. Honestly, I should have left a 5-star review ages ago. But this bar experience lit a fire under me to take the time to type something up. First off, Charred's posted closing time is 10PM. My wife and I got there around 9:35 and we felt guilty for doing so. The bartender (Emily) took our drink and food orders and never said a thing like what you hear at a lot of places when you show up late, like "our kitchen is closed" or "last call is in 10 minutes". No, she made us feel like we had arrived with impeccable timing. I even asked if we were putting her out at all and she assured us we could stay as long as we wanted. Our food arrived and was wonderful, as always. A little after 10PM, another bartender (Lauren) asked us if we wanted another drink. It was already after close and we were the next to last customers in the place. She assured me that it was fine to stay as long as we needed to, so I went ahead and ordered another beer. By this time, we were the only customers left in the entire restaurant. There were still plenty of kitchen workers and wait staff working diligently to prepare for close, but not one person seemed like they were in any hurry for us to leave. Here's the best part: although my final beer order was the last sale of the day, both bartenders (Emily and Lauren) worked together to ensure that my beer was poured perfectly. I'm not kidding, Lauren initially poured the beer and then Emily came over and assisted her with ensuring that the pour was correct. No one likes an inch of head on a draft beer. These ladies got it 100% right, and I complimented them on it. While we were the LAST customers in the place, they treated us like we were the most important customers of the day! Folks, you cannot put a price tag on that. Employees like this are hard to find and even harder to keep. Charred has won our patronage for years to come. This is a restaurant/bar that knows how to hire and train employees who will deliver a magnificent experience. Well done!

We parked in the lot across the street although there is 2 hour street parking. Our server was friendly but it was a little disappointing that one of the drinks we wanted couldn't be ordered because it wasn't available (not sure why because it was just an old fashioned and we could clearly see the whiskey displayed behind the bar) so we ordered a different drink and the exotic mushroom pasta entree I ordered had a choice of being served with gnocchi or pappardelle pasta (which I preferred but again, it wasn't available so I went with the gnocchi). One of my friends got the beef sliders with mashed potatoes ($3 upcharge!!!) (they wanted the beef stroganoff but the chef wasn't able to make it without mushrooms) and my other friend the Brazilian beef stroganoff. The food was delicious. The ambiance was typical of a tavern with the TVs broadcasting the Olympics and the tall ceilings caused it to be a little noisy but not unbearable. We were too full for dessert but the carrot cake had been recommended so we ordered a piece to go (the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen!) along with a slice of their lemoncello cake. Good experience, I would've given them 5 stars had they not been out of so many things and unable to accommodate my friend's wish for no mushrooms
