The 2 way combo bbq included nice meaty pieces of duck whereas the roast pork belly was nicely crispy but was cut in very narrow pieces, kind of deprive the pleasure of biting into a nice square skin. George F put this spot on my radar and great to pick up various items without venturing to Oakland Chinatown. I visited this newly opened spot last Saturday to try their roast duck. I walked in and ordered takeout, but the wait was much longer than expected. When I arrived, there was only one customer ahead of me picking up an order, and there were no dine-in customers at all. Even with two staff members working behind the counter, it still took about 20 minutes to get my roast duck. Normally, ordering roast duck -- including chopping it up -- shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. While waiting, I also noticed some issues with how they handled other customers. This place is a tad small, and reminds me of the small HK diners...so it's not ideal if you have a big group. We ordered the 3 meat combo (roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork). We didn't really enjoy this dish (considering the fact that we just came back from HK). The roast pork was the only meat that was delicious...other than that, the roast duck was bony and lacked meat and fat (unless we got the skinnest duck that day). Not too sure if we will visit again. The roasted goose was a rare find but way too pricey. $80 something for half. The favor was excellent however the meat was too tough. I couldn't compare with the authentic goose I had in Hong Kong. I believe the supply itself is not the same. The clay pot rice noodles felt like a pot of leftover mixed together. The roasted pork and bbq pork were good but small in portion. The cups and plates were all greasy. The cleanliness needs improvement. The service overall was attractive. Found there is this new place for claypot rice and HK BBQ. Restaurant is bright and clean, but unfortunately the dinnerware is not. Arrived during lunch hour on Sunday, around 1pm. It was full house, and there was only two servers were serving approximately 10+ tables. We were about to pour water to the water cup but found it was greasy holding it, so we use the napkin to wipe down a bit, finding there is still lipstick stain because it transferred to the napkin, quite disgusting. Told the server and they quickly changed to paper cups, soon after, next table customer said the same thing. While waiting, found the chopsticks were not very clean either, some kind of vegetable was still sticking on it! So we decided to clean with water ourselves one more time. I understand it is new and everything still needs to be adjusted, but serving unclean dinnerware is quite nasty. Management please take a deeper look and hoping to see improvement next time I come. So we finally ordered, and knowing it was still lunch hour and there was a wait. Time has been ticking and our food was not ready. Not only ours not ready, they barely started serving maybe 5 tables before us and we actually were already seated for 25 minutes. Wow, orders have been backed up and still seeing the kitchen non stop cooking! Business owners should look at this since this is understaff during peak hours. About the plates we ordered: Two BBQ items with rice (Hainan chicken & roast duck) 8/10: Not sure if it was because of this dish has been ready for a while before it was served, everything was cold. Both hainan chicken and roast duck tastes good. In addition, I found they served honey soy bean, where you don't find many places make those and serve along with roast duck. Beans are soft enough and very tasty. Fish fillet & Tofu Claypot 7/10: This dish took the longest, from the moment we sat down till it served, it took more than 30 minutes. Taste is just all right, it is only some ordinary deep fried tofu and fish fillet, not a surprising dish. Overall, this restaurant is still new and there is still a lot of improvement. This new Chinese food restaurant took over the old King Kong place on the Blvd. It has good ambient, the inside feels really clean and the vibe is great. Servers are super attentive and nice. They are very patient and came to check on us a few times to see if we need anything. It was a light dinner for us so we got the Choi Sum in broth and sweet and sour pork. Both dishes look very appetizing and the portion is great. However, the sweet and sour pork has almost no pork in it. It's just a heavy layer of fried breading. More than half of the dish when I took a bite there was either no meat in there or so little meat that you only taste the breading. The chicken had little meat, so for this reason it didn't appeal to me, but everything else was perfectly made. -Stir Fried Beef Chow Fun(not pictured) was flavorful without a lot of grease & what I loved the most is the quality of the meat which was tender & seasoned perfectly. We've been here a couple times and enjoy the Chinese food and cafe atmosphere. The 3 Combination BBQ platter is what introduced us to our favorite item on the menu. The (A-4) Macau Style Roasted Pork, sliced roasted pork with crispy skin. Also, the Iced Hong Kong Milk Tea is a good drink. I've noticed that there are large tray orders ready to be picked up at opening so I decided to give it a try for Mother's Day. We ordered 3 party trays. Pork, noodles, and cauliflower. Hao Kee replaced the former King Kong, and here the specialty is Cantonese BBQ. On our visit, we tried the combination two items platter with roast duck and roast pork, a whole Hainan chicken, stir fry choi sum with garlic, and signature Hunan stinky tofu. Even though we came later in the afternoon, between lunch and dinner, we were surprised that we still have to wait a bit for our food, even though the restaurant was only half full at that time. The wait was worth it however, as the Cantonese BBQ was truly excellent. The roast duck was succulent, has good amount of meat, and was not too oily. The roast pork has crispy skin and the meat was firm but moist. The combination platter came with two different kinds of dipping sauce (sweet&source, plum). The stir fry Choi sum with garlic was fresh and generous in portion, and had good garlic taste. The Hunan stinky tofu was very close in taste to the ones we had in Changsha, the capital of Hunan, so I would say it was a good rendition. Finally came the huge plate of Hainan chicken. This was definitely the highlight. For our group of five, a whole chicken was definitely a better value, as it was 50% more in cost than the half-chicken order and not 100%. The chicken meat was moist and tender, with good balance of dark meat and white meat pieces. We ate a lot, but still have quite a bit left over to take go. For all that food, we only spend about $20 per person (before tax and tips), which was very economical. The lady owner was really nice and friendly, and service was good. Had a large amount of fried tofu and fried fish simmered in a nice sauce. Included shiitake mushrooms, roast pork and garlic. Three combo BBQ platter 3/5 - Roast pork was not available. We had roast duck, char siu, and hai nan chicken. Reasons for loss of two points; no roast pork and the roast duck included the whole duck neck as part of the serving, which is just skin and bones. Flavors were good but not sure this plate is worth the price for such small servings. Dry Fried Green Beans - 4/5 - Pretty typical green beans. Nice sized serving with chilis, pickled veggies and some ground pork. Very flavorful. Prawn Noodles 3.5/5 - This was surprising that the noodles were ramen noodles. I liked them, my wife not so much. Included a few small shrimp and some bean sprouts and not much else. I liked the flavor. Serving was much "lighter" using ramen instead of a heartier noodle. Had a craving Sunday evening and found this place only because all the other places were closed or closing. Wasn't sure if they did over the phone orders so me and the lady friend went to investigate. Incredilby busy, they had been catering to what looked like two large groups. The place itself looked great, clean and organized in a way that celebrated who they were. Enter my first issue, they really didn't have a clear line of communication. We walked up and we didn't know who to talk to or ask about menus or anything. Infact yelp is where I found I could call in the order. Enter second issue, asked if they had pork and the woman said yes. proceed to order Hai Nan Chicken and Rice and then BBQ pork and was immediately shot down. No more pork. Thats fine, two Chickens it is. Enter the third issue, headed in for pick up. Once again, no idea who I'm supposed to talk to or where I'm supposed to go so all the way to what looks like a front counter where employees are rushing past me making me feel nervous and out of place. I said excuse me, immediately again shot down with "we are closed" which is fine to me, I understand the mentality near the end of a night. I told her it was phone order and she changed her tune. Last and final issue for me was payment, I had always intended to leave a decent tip. Being a local restaurant and a small business I always try to support. This woman took my card and selected my tip for me, which rubbed me entirely the wrong way. The flavors were all excellent. The pork and duck were both juicy and very tender, exactly what you want from proper roast meats, though both dishes arrived lukewarm. The pork would really benefit from a mustard or sugar to cut through the richness. The duck noodle soup was a bit nostalgic, reminiscent of the duck and preserved vegetable noodle soups I grew up eating. It was however a bit light on duck and the broth was light. One miss was the tea, which was extremely weak, to the point of me questioning if it's just to rinse dishes. We tried this place as we saw it had recently opened, but it wasn't quite up to standard. First of all, being a new place, you wouldn't expect to have a leaking roof or tables that wobble. Well, on our visit, the they had a bucket collecting water dripping from the ceiling and the table we sat at kept wobbling, even after putting some tissue underneath. Now onto the food, honestly it was anything to rave about. We had the Wonton Noodle Soup, Hai Nan Chicken and Sweet & Sour Pork, and nothing to write home about for any of the 3 dishes. The sweet & sour pork was weird in how each piece was circular in shape, never seen that before, and it just didn't seem right or traditional. The wonton noodle soup wasn't anything to rave about, the meat was so so and the shrimps were meh. The Hai Nan Chicken was decent, I liked the ginger scallion sauce that was spreaded on top of the chicken. Would be better on the side though, so you can dip the chicken yourself. The service was okay, the staff was friendly, but not too attentive to needs or concerns I would say. Only time will tell how will this place does and if they last. I was disappointed that they only gave you a small portion of the ginger sauce and when I asked for more she went to the back and said they ran out. But, it was 6:30pm. So idk. Disappointment one. Next to us, a party of 10 also had several rectangular tables shoved together to accommodate them. The portions for the Macau Roast pork wasn't a whole lot, but it was good! We didn't expect the string beans to be spicy (wished I had ordered the cauliflower or choy sum instead). They exchanged our plates for clean ones half way through the meal (which I always appreciate).
