We started with the mozzarella sticks which were good and came with salsa. For mains we had two carne asada burritos, a reuben sandwich, the garlic bread burger, and a salad. All of the food was just okay. If you get the burrito, dont ask for salsa in it because it will turn the burrito cold. The curly fries and crinkle fries that comes with the meal are very good. I will say, they are generous with the condiments. I asked for a side of bleu cheese and they give a good sized portion. BUT if you are looking for a place to sit down, enjoy good company, and feel the nostalgia from the old diner feel while being in a cute town, and really good burgers then you should definitely come here. We waited for about 40 minutes for our food to come out, it was busy, and a Sunday in a touristy town so that's just all part of the experience. And to be fair they do have a bright yellow sign at the cash register where you place your order that the average wait time for food is 40-60 mins so no one should be upset. But anyways the food -- wow! I would say I am a bbq burger connoisseur and their 49ers burger was everything. Totally worth the 40 min wait! The jalapeno poppers were pretty dry and firm like they were over fried. The shoestring fries were tasty like McDonald's fries. Vibrant and authentic atmosphere with the discography and rock n roll memorabilia on the walls. The silver lining was a free scoop on my birthday, the strawberry cheesecake was generously portioned and delicious. Lots of outdoor seating. Crispy tater tots: YESSSSSSSSSS greatly appreciated! Corn dog: was super crispy also. I can't stand a mushy corn dog. Hamburger: had great Smokey flavor, sourdough was toasted well with butter, the patty was a decent size. Customer service: it was a little chaotic, they were positively slammed and things happen. A ticket was lost or something and they were trying to figure it out. It was all figured out. Time of our order was 37 minutes. This place is incredible! Just an unassuming diner but we had the best burger we have had in years, there at this place where we expected not much! The fries are also astounding as they fry in beef tallow- delish! I had a side salad which I was able to make myself at the well stocked and very fresh salad bar. Once at the hotel and opened our food we noticed the club sandwiches had tomatoes and no bacon, only received one side of ranch and the char chicken sandwich was lacking flavor. Overall this is a great spot to eat and we would come again! We were on the way up to Yosemite and the spot we were gonna try was closed since it was Monday. Happy Birger Diner has an outdoor patio with umbrellas out front (sorry forgot to take a photo) that we enjoyed with our two dogs. You go inside to order (cash preferred, but credit cards accepted) and they will bring the food out to you. My mom and o shared a BLT and garlic fries...the BLT was delicious and they loaded it with bacon! The fries were way over salted, so we didn't eat much of those. Overall it's a really chill place. From offering a10% discount to seniors 55+ and veterans, to every dish being cooked from scratch--they advise you that your food will take between 20-30 minutes to be served--but it is so worth the wait!! They use excellent quality ingredients--I had a Denver omelet and it had real fresh cut cubes of ham and green and red peppers, onions and two cheese. Absolutely delicious! I ordered some fries along with mine which we shared because the portion was so big. They were excellent, great seasoning and steak fries to boat. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Very helpful with the menu and explaining different things. You felt welcome no matter how busy the place was. And on Tuesday afternoon, it was very busy. We waited about a half an hour, which was absolutely fine. We weren't in a hurry. The only thing I wish I had done was check to see if they had a shake on their menu which would've been outstanding.
