Not sure what was up with the previous posters but our food was fast and tasty. The pastrami sandwich was ample. My wife would have liked more pickles. Chicken sandwich was good. The shredded lettuce made for a texture issue for Princess Buttercup. Her Oreo shake was "straight fire." The boy would have liked the peppers to be diced smaller. He liked the taste. The burger was fine. Plenty of seating. Price was good. It's bus your own so keep that in mind when tipping.

Loved the shakes, but the inconsistent hours are a letdown. Roots and Rye has a cool vibe and the shake I had was phenomenal. But don't trust their schedule online--I tried to go back the next day and they had closed up shop two hours before their actual closing time. Very disappointing to deal with that kind of unreliability when you're craving a spot. Great food, but a gamble on whether they'll actually be open.

I used to stop at Petes all the time on our way back from Bass Lake for their zucchini fries. I know Pete went out of business, but I hope the new place was just a new name. Sadly, the zucchini fries are no longer freshly made. They are tiny compared to what you used to get And they're just prepackaged frozen zucchini fries. Service was quick. They did clean up the place a bit, but the quality of food and costs probably means I won't be coming back.

Does this look like a 15.00 sandwich? HIGHLY Processed composite "Turkey" meat on cheap white bread. Never again.

My first time here since they opened. I had the avocado burger combo with krinkle fries and brewed ice tea. Service was fast and friendly and reasonably priced. Only 4 customers when I was there. The place was shiny and new and very clean. Burger was tasty and fries were perfect! Tea was good too, I hate when places have no options besides sodas! Brewed tea is a great healthy option. Give them a chance! It's certainly not their fault Pete's is gone! We've recently lost two other fast food in town. Be nice or you may end up driving 45 minutes.

The service was terrible. The food tasted good but we left feeling scammed. I paid $15 for a sourdough melt which came with one slice of cheese and a measly amount of onions. The place looks nice but looks can be deceiving.

The locals that loved Pete are giving less stars because they miss Pete....thats not fair. We actually didn't like Pete's and stopped going pre-Covid. His reaction to COVID regulations made us stop all together. We went to Buns and Shakes today and it was terrific. We shared a burger and zucchini fries and they were terrific. The front cashier was so sweet! The food was fresh made and hot. The dining room was very clean and the table tops are adorable. We'll be back!

This place is overpriced. It costs a dollar to add cheese to your burger. We paid $40 for one smash burger double and one single with cheese combo. It's not worth it at all plus smells bad inside the restaurant. Grade -0

    Western Burger

This place is my go to spot for a great burger. I've been here several times, and the Western Burger never disappoints. It's always fresh, flavorful, and definitely better than the other fast food options nearby. This time I also ordered the chili cheese fries and an Oreo shake, and both were excellent. The service is consistently great, and you can tell the staff works hard. I really appreciate the effort they put in every time. My pictures aren't the best as it's very dark but don't let the pictures stop you from trying it.

Going to a little town we weren't sure what we would get, but whoever runs this place and the chef is definitely care about quality of food. We had a pretty big party and called ahead to let them know. Everyone had something different, but everything tasted amazing. Great clam chowder Steak cooked perfectly with good flavor Salmon was delicious Wings were cooked perfect Kids finished both kids meals which if you know kids it's usually a couple of bites and "I'm done" I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through here. As we're leaving there was a significant wait so I'm guessing others know the secret of this wonderful place too.

We decided to try Oakhurst Grill because it was one of the only places still open when we rolled into town. (Places close early here) Service- 2.5/5: Both times I've been here the waitresses have been polite and somewhat attentive. We were seated within 20 mins but had another 15min wait to actually place our order. It seemed like it took awhile to just get started with drinks. They do a high volume here with a large staff so the service is likely inconsistent. Food quality: 3/5 My burger was actually very good, with 1/2lb of quality beef. I would get it again. I've had the chicken Alfredo which was ok, but nothing extraordinary. Steak tips for an appetizer were ok and the crab cakes were flavorful. My vegan friend had the Al Fresco (Tomato, artichoke heart, Mediterranean olive blend, garlic, onion, spinach and mushrooms, balsamic vinegar, served over penne pasta with a side of ciabatta bread.) He barely touched it because it just didn't taste good. Everyone at the table tried it and agreed we wouldn't recommend it. The cheesecake "bites" for dessert is more like a slice of previously frozen cheesecake cut into 2 pieces, with a drizzle of syrup on top. Atmosphere- 4/5: The interior is dated but had a rustic vibe that fits the environment. The outdoor seating has a nice view but the exterior is rather narrow for the size of the tables. Value- 3/5: Pricing is higher but what I would expect near a national park. The potions were generous. Overall- 3/5: I would eat here again if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to. It is more geared toward tourists.

(5 of 5) Fish & Chips: Today's classic dish of the British Isles has a good crunch on the batter and a delicate buttery interior, but could use more seasoning. The potato chips were managed and fried well. A dash of salt put this over the top. The coleslaw had a different texture and taste that I'm not familiar with so I'm not a fan. (4 of 5) Mushroom Swiss Burger (1/3 pound ground beef patty seasoned, topped with mushroom, swiss cheese & grilled onion on a brioche bun): The warm, buttery sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese add a creamy texture that marries well with the savoury beef patty. Together, they created a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. (5 of 5) Lemonade: My lemonade was refreshing - with enough acidity and sweetness. (5 of 5) Ice-cream: Not just any ice-cream, but Thrifty Ice-Cream. I remember going to Thrifty just to get their ice-cream. The Hitching Post carries 12 flavours of Thrifty ice cream. We had the Chocolate and Butter Pecan in large waffle cones. Most ice-cream these days are overly sweet - and that's all you taste - just plain sugar. Somehow, Thrifty Ice Cream has a sweet, creamy, and deeply nostalgic taste, with a rich, dense texture. We're definitely going back for the ice-cream. Avoid ordering online -- very strange experience…read more We were on vacation and needed a pizza place that could accommodate a large group, so we decided to give this place a try. I went to their website, placed an order, and paid online. Shortly after, I received a text saying DoorDash would be delivering my order. Then I got a call from the DoorDash driver saying they had arrived at the restaurant, but the restaurant was claiming they didn't have a website and didn't have my order. The charge on my credit card showed the business name, so the whole situation was extremely confusing. I ended up having to cancel the charge with my credit card company, and since we had a large group with limited options, we had to go inside and place an order directly. Walking in, the place had a very strange vibe. It almost felt like a restaurant that was not fully set up or had recently changed ownership. It was very bare, there were no napkins in the holders, and the arcade area was completely empty except for a couch. The whole atmosphere felt off. Unfortunately, the pizza itself was not good either. I'm not sure what happened with this place, whether it recently changed hands or something else, but based on our experience, I would recommend staying away.
