Very hip, good but not stellar pizza, although I've only eaten there once. I'll go back again.

I went with the family on a Saturday afternoon and, while we're clearly not the target demo (I was easily the oldest person in the place - and I'm not that old!) we were well taken care of. The campers were fun (although we couldn't sit inside). And the pizza was top notch. We live in the neighborhood and love Happy Camper, however, our most recent experience was not nearly as good as the others. Being someone with a gluten allergy, I love that they have delicious gluten free pizza!! When you order that, you expect to get it! My server was a total airhead and forgot to put in gluten free! Within about 10 minutes of finishing our food i knew it. I started to feel sick. While they removed my pizza from our bill, as they should, he just seemed very nonchalant about it. I've ordered their pizza to-go from here a couple times and always enjoyed it. Finally made it in the other day with a friend to grab a late lunch. They had a burrata on special that was topped with a balsamic glaze and pomegranate seeds, which we ordered to start. It was amazing! Because it was lunch, we each got a salad. I had the Sesame Soy with chicken, which our server said was his favorite. It did not disappoint one bit! My friend got the Wells St salad, which she loved as well. So sad to have no choice but to never order from HC again. Ordered two salads - received a different salad and two pizzas. Huh? The order was correctly labeled, just not the correct food. So, called HC... In essence, they blamed the driver... WTF? The driver TRUSTS you, the restaurant, to manage the kitchen - in spite of THEIR error, the manager basically said, too bad, you're on your own. Loved the ambiance and the entire experience at Happy Camper. Got the Greg pizza in a 10 inch and it was the perfect size for one person! The appetizers were a little smaller than I had hoped, but didn't take away from my enjoyment. Had a bunch of TVs and the servers kindly put on a basketball game that my party and I wanted to watch. Great pizza place for a casual dinner or for a bigger party! Located right in the heart of Old Town, it is easy to go to other bars in the area before or after! Old Town is full of yuppie places to dine and drink but Happy Camper pushes past that Old Town stereotype. Large enough to seat you and your pals with ample outdoor space for you to enjoy some high quality 'Za. We were seated quickly and efficiently, the drink selection was on point, and the service was even better. The pizza itself was just phenomenal and would definitely come here again. This is one of our favorite pizza places in Chicago. We tend to stick to the same order every time - Trixie salad & dime piece pizza. I'm not normally a chicken on my pizza person, but this is different. It's almost like a jalapeño popper pizza - so good! I'm not a huge crust person either, but damn if I don't like their crust!! Their jalapeño homies are legit good if you are looking for an appetizer. We came here immediately after getting married at City Hall last March. Our server brought us two glasses of champagne on the house, which was welcomed! They also deliver on Uber eats, so that's convenient. I love Happy Camper pizza! The pizza is thin (my type of pizza) and always cooked to perfection. However the artisan pizza might as well be taken of the menu. My fiancé and I had one of our first few dates here and he ordered some stupid fancy pizza that tasted like cat shit and then proceeded to my entire pizza. In a town full of amazing pizza they could improve their fancy pizzas! However the atmosphere is fun and has a great vibe which let alone would bring me back. But then again the service is so so, the waiter was extremely rude to my fiancé because he was offended by a comment that said I was girly which I am but the waiter clearly a hipster was offended by his comment and was terribly rude the rest of the night. read more

I really like this place, better than its sister restaurant. The tony is my favorite but everything is good . The breadsticks are amazing , and I've been here both at day and night . I also recently tried the vegan cheese pizza and it was actually really good ! The only downside is there is usually a long ish Wait for dinner which is kind of irritating. Always thought of Happy Camper as a dinner/night life establishment, however, it is much more!! Visited last weekend for brunch that exceeded all of our expectations. We were treated by a funny bouncer, who put our group at ease when it comes to COVID requirements. The boozy brunch drinks (iced coffee and Bloody Mary) were so delicious, and the visual presentation was very instagramable. The food was so tasty... we will definitely be back soon!! read more

Fantastic service! We sat at the bar with Dom as the bartender. He went above and beyond what a normal bartender would do. I found this place due to an instagram account that posts trendy locations that you must try. I love those accounts and every thing that they post exactly matches the word trendy. I stalked their website to make sure it was a for sure place to go to. After multiple accounts posted this place I decided to round up my family and go there. Keep in mind that I had kids around 15 and under with me. We walk in and there in a bouncer and very loud music. The website did not advertise that it was mostly a bar. It was insane in there. Absolutely loved this place!! I went with my two friends on a Friday night around 7. The wait is super long. We were told an hour when we got there..an hour passed and then we were told 20 more minutes but we didn't mind they have two great bars so we hung out, watched the game, and drank while we waited. We knew it would be worth the wait. Love all of the decor and neon signs they really make this place unique. The tire swings at the bar are frickin awesome but we didn't get a chance to try them out since it was so packed. Food was great!! We got a veggie and pepperoni pizza that was absolutely delicious with chips and salsa and the jalapeño homies. Everything was amazing! Our pizza however was brought out before our appetizers but our server was amazing and she didn't charge us for them!! Awesome! Service from the second we walked in until we walked out was great! The service was very friendly and surprisingly prompt, considering we were there on a beautiful, and crowded, Saturday evening. Never did make it inside as our group of 12 had an outside table. He claim he a bouncer or something but dressed like a hollister employee.. he was completely rude to me and my friends when we wanted to get pizza, he turned us away because we weren't 21 but it was literally broad daylight and we were only going for the pizza. Came here for a Cubs playoff game to meet with some friends. The place was packed but it was fairly large to hold a good amount of people. We had to stand almost the entire game. We put in a table request so we can eat but nobody was moving. There is a cool little camper in the back where you can eat. The drink prices were fair, bartenders were great, hostess stand people were not very attentive and not very friendly. Overall, I'd like to come here on a slower night and see if it's better. read more
