This place infuriated me one night while I was doing favor. I placed in the order, got here in 20 minutes only to find out my order was stolen. They refused to remake the order stating that I had to place the order online, but on the application it doesn't say you have to do it online. They were pretty rude about it so they get a 1 star, especially for the fact that someone literally stole my order. 3.5 stars: My husband and I came here on New Years and we were happy to see it was open! Not too many people so we felt safe to sit inside near the door. Service was pretty good and they were attentive. This was our first time, and we ordered the 6 tender meal (the jumbo chick?) which was a lot of food. This place definitely gives you value! The tenders are big and the cream corn was delicious. However we ordered spicy tenders and it wasn't spicy at all or flavorful enough for me. The tenders are crispy, but again I was expecting more. The fries were crispy but average in flavor. We also got lemonade which I thought tasted good, but my husband thought it was too sweet. The list of sauces is impressive. We really liked the Honey Sriracha sauce and also go the sweet and sour pineapple which was more sweet than sour. Overall, we wouldn't go out of our way to come back, but definitely check it out if you are in the area! I can describe this place as..."meh." It was past 9pm and my friend and I were simply in search of grabbing some FOOD along 6th before we continued our evening. To be honest, the name Happy Chicks sounded cute (right?) and we are relatively easy to please so we figured we'd give it a go. I ordered the Little Chick and subbed fruit instead of the side of fries. They were fine, nothing to write home about. The BBQ sauce I got on the side was the only thing to add any flavor. My friend got the Chick Sandwich. She's so-so on sauces, and wanted hers on the side, which they instead doused her entire sandwich in bright yellow honey mustard. She noted that the fries were seasoned and had a decent taste, so I'd take that as a plus. The ambience was awkward and left something to be desired. The one gal working that we interacted with was in the back corner making something with markers...not staffing the bar or interacting with patrons. You order food and drinks by scanning a QR code with your phone, and we were instructed by the gal working to "grab our own water" from a jug on a table behind us. Also odd - you pay via your phone immediately when you order...I don't like the idea of having to tip before receiving your food or taking in the entire experience. I think there was only one other employee working, the guy who brought our food out. We ordered two Jell-O shots because it was a girls trip and why not! The gal walked by and tossed them onto our table...rude. I don't even think they had any booze in them. And $3+ per was highway robbery. Had a great time here, my boyfriend and I stop by for a quick dinner snack for the night. It was our first night in Austin, the bar has a employee checking temps out side the restaurant. The inside was a little small and way too many people in my opinion. We end up sitting at the bar and was service quickly. We order the chicken with two sides. The chicken tenders were large and very delicious. Was super crispy but still moist inside. It was the best chicken tenders I had in a while. The side dishes were surprisingly delicious as well. I kept going back for the sweet corn fish. It had bacon bits and sweet cream corn. A simple but delicious dish. I would recommend if you are in Austin to stop by or order takeout. I visited the 6th st location on 5/5/24 and experienced nothing but absolutely horrible service. Everything went fine up until we received our food, as one of the plates had a hair on it. When my friend went up to the bar to return the food and have it remade, the manager gave nothing but attitude. My friend simply asked to have the food remade and was immediately accused of being intoxicated and told to leave the bar. After receiving a refund for the plate that had a hair, we began to leave. The WHOLE wait staff felt it necessary to follow us out of the bar and out onto the side walk. When telling them that we were leaving and there was no need to continue following us, the manager proceeded to pull out a BASEBALL BAT and threaten us. Needless to say, I will never visit another happy chicks location or the bar next door since it's run by the same manager. Came to check this place out on Dirty pre-Alamo show and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I ordered the classic chick which was A LOT of food for $10.99. I ordered it because of the bacon mac n cheese, which was actually really tasty! The meal also comes w/4 chicken tenders, jalapeno cornbread, a crap ton of fries, and two dipping sauces (they have 15 to choose from). The fries are shockingly good, which I was not expecting by the look of them. They are somehow sweet and salty, kinda like cinnasugar meets Mrs. Dash...sounds hella weird, I know, but really really good. Though, if you are watching your sodium, you may have to limit yourself. The jalapeno cornbread was good as well, but just a bit dry. The chicken, oddly enough, was the least impressive part of the meal. The tenders had way too much breading and were a bit overcooked, but w/the honey sriracha dipping sauce, it ended up just fine. Paired w/an on-draught Lone Star and it was probably one of the more satisfying meals I've had on Dirty. The bartenders were attentive and my food came out quick, other than that, I had zero expectations. Their menu is simple: fried chicken tenders (regular or spicy), southern sides, and lots of dipping sauces. Being a total sauce lover, this was heaven for me. So, I stopped in and ordered their chicken nuggets. First of all, I was happy to know that you have a choice of regular or spicy for the nuggets as well as the tenders. So, I ended up with iced tea, spicy nuggets, and fries. The spicy nuggets aren't even that spicy, but they do have a great seasoning blend. The fries were similarly well seasoned -- and didn't require the two small packets of ketchup. I also liked the pineapple sweet and sour sauce which was a perfect sweet Asian flavor. Unlike Happy Chicks on Burnet Road, this location is a bar and has table service -- so think of it more as a competitor to some of the other sit down chicken places. The street was shut down and everyone was partying like it was Mardi Gras. I decided to walk down that street to check out the scene that's how I found Happy Chicks. Honestly, I'm glad I found this restaurant. The staff was cordial, the food came out in a timely manner, and everything was super fresh. The chicken fingers were crispy, hot, and tender. French fries had some crunch and were salty, no issues there. Creamed corn was bomb too. The whole front of the restaurant was open so it was a prime spot for people watching.
