New owners do a great job with main dishes food salad soup all delicious........ paper wrapped chicken was horrible lacking any flavor whatsoever .... and they seem to get a bit overwhelmed when really busy ....thus the missing star......but even when overwhelmed they maintain a very pleasant attitude we will keep coming back read more

I love Chinese food. I am from the bay area where they have the best and this place has really good food. I tried the hot and sour soup which was delicious, and the tempura calamari which was also delicious. I also tried the chicken fried rice, the mushroom chicken, and beef with snow peas and loved it all. The servers were friendly also. I would definitely go back. read more

Food was good. The waiter always tries to finesse for tips. If you don't give tips he will try to take your change. Careful if you don't leave tip he will run after you in the parking lot asking for tip. And the entrance of the restaurant has strong mold odor. read more

Food is alright. We just got take out once. My husband got fried rice and liked it. He said its the best he had in our area which is in Paradise. I didn't like my dish so much but I haven't tried anything else. So not sure if I would like other dishes better. read more

We tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend, and had a mixed experience. The food is pretty tasty although some of our favorites, e.g. dry braised chicken and Hunan beef were missing from the menu. The dishes we ordered were generous in portion and flavorful enough, but the knock on this place was the service. When we entered, there were very few customers in the dining room, but no staff persons in sight. We waited probably two or three minutes before someone appeared to seat us. Our waitress appeared new, was unfamiliar with some of the dishes and never seemed to be around. When we did request something extra, it was always done graciously and fairly quickly, but finding her was a problem. Similarly, we waited a long time for our bill and fortune cookies after finishing the meal. Also, tea wasn't served with the food which is unusual for a Chinese restaurant. Overall: Decor - B, Food - B Service - C minus. There are better Chinese places in the Paradise/Chico vicinity. read more

Love this place. Great food, best service and great prices. Only tip i would give is that dinning in is better than take out but not by much. We love this place and eat from there often. I would recommend to anybody. We take visiting family often and no one ever complains about bad tummies afterwards (if you know what i mean) LOVE THIS PLACE!!! read more

I have to start by I'm saying I lived in the Bay Area and SoCal most of my life. Since moving to Paradise I've really had to lower my standards when it comes to dining out. Most of the time we cook at home but occasionally you get a craving for Chinese and I have to say this place does a great job for the area. We've dined in and taken out. Both times service was excellent, very friendly staff. The restaurant is a converted house and is cozy inside. We've tried hot and sour soup, chow mein, fried rice and two Szechuan dishes. The soup had good flavor and was not overly sweet or with bits of unidentifiable meat like I've had at some places. The other dishes were all very tasty and although I would have liked a little more spice and flavor, I understand that they cater to the majority of diners who seem to prefer a blander Chinese food, so I can't knock them for that. The portions were generous and we left feeling full with leftovers to spare. Oh, forgot boyfriend also ordered the General Tso's chicken (typical, I know!) I don't eat much meat but did try a bite and it was delicious, crispy, not overly breaded and nice flavor. Again, this is pretty Americanized Chinese food but I really wouldn't expect anything else seeing as it's in Magalia, not San Francisco. We are happy to have found a place on the ridge for decent Chinese and happy to support a local business. read more

We used to really enjoy Happy Day, but lately the service has really gone down hill. Our last two take out experiences have been awful. For starters if your busy and won't be able to have our food ready to go for an hour that's fine, say that. Don't tell me it's going to be 30-40 minutes and have me sit in your cramped lobby for another 30 minutes waiting. 70 minutes is crazy to wait! My wife had the same thing happen a month ago. On top of that when taking orders on the phone I should not be put on "hold" while I listen to you scream in your native language at someone for 90 seconds before you take my order. You should also not have to deal with an employees 2 year old son running around and distracting the staff, maybe that's why they were running so far behind? While waiting another, customer came in saying she could not place her order due to their phone being off the hook....possibly a toddler was playing with it? Oh by the way, don't try to use any of the coupons on their menu that they provide because they are expired and they won't honor them! Really?? You are providing them on your counter!? The staff really just seems bothered by having customers to serve. Bottom line is the food is good especially in Magalia but even good food will not overcome terrible service. We moved from San Jose to Paradise, CA in July of 2014. The Chinese Restaurants in town were decent, no complaints. On a lark, the wife and I drove up to Stirling City, north of Magalia. We spotted this restaurant on the way up, and decided to hit it on the way back. The portions are amazing, ordered separate combo dinners and had enough left over for dinner the next day. Server was from Indonesia, had a great attitude, and was quick to replenish my beer! Will go back again! read more

I have nearby for18years. This place has seen a lot of ups and downs. I dined there twice last year and found the meal tasted as though it was made from leftovers. I have not been back since. Perhaps it has made a turn around again and we may go once more. read more

Poor front desk service tonight - everyone seemed stressed and confused . Noodles were also not very good - they were very over cooked .

Excellent service & food. Loved the Crab meat with cheese turnover. Not too hot but spicy enough. I will go again.

I will recommend the Walnut Shrimp the most. Everything else is just as good except for the Chicken Salad which is just plan nasty. I will admit I had some pretty nasty chicken salad in the past. But the chicken salad here really takes the cake on being the nastiest. nothing is happy about their chicken salad or the time you be spending in the bathroom. So yeah everything is great, just not the chicken salad! read more
