Came here twice now and disappointed both times. First time I had a lady who didn't have nearly enough force, she was the size of my lunch and clearly lacked the strength to work on me. (I'm only 160lbs). Second time I came here, I got a mouthbreather who I could tell was smoking before my massage. On top of that, the receptionist was having a wechat call with her relatives and it was so distracting. All three of us were more irritated after the massage than before. To top it off, they said their credit card machine wasn't working, then had the nerve to ask me for an additional $1 dollar to balance the tip out between the three of them. Who does this? 1 star for the lady who gave me a heads up that her hands are super cold before hand. Called at 8:45pm, said they could take us in at 9pm, which is the last hour of business. 20 minutes into the massage, front desk person decided to wechat/facetime her relatives to talk about their dinner plans and how much beef costs these days. Thanks, that's the last thing I need to hear during a massage. I get that this is not the most spa-like environment, I am not a newbie to Chinese foot massage places, but if you decided to take in customers at the last hour, then you should be ready to provide services fully, and professionally. I'm not going to comment on how my massage lady did nothing more than caressing my skin for the whole time with little to no force/effort/strength. At least she was polite, and she tried. So after 60 minutes of the-opposite-of-relaxing massage, we were told that they prefer cash payment, and that there's a $2 additional charge for credit card transactions. And after we communicated that we want to use the credit card machine, the machine broke down. We ended up paying cash, and was asked to pay another $1 so that they can fairly split the tips with workers. So one might say, "What do you expect? You get what you paid for." In our quest to find a good foot massage place close to Hayward we wound up here today. We brought a friend who was visiting us from Southern California. We called and made an appointment. We got the 70 minute combined foot / body massage for $50. All three of us were very happy with the therapists that we had. The music was nice and relaxing, and the massage went well: First a foot massage for 30 minutes in a curtained semi-private area, and then a 40 minute body massage in a private room (with hot stones). We gave a $20 tip for the great service. A decent tip is expected as this is part of how the therapists make their living since the massage is priced so low. We have always tipped like this in foot massage places. (I read the negative reviews here all about the tips.) We will be back here again! Great job today! read more

WARNING! DETAILED REVIEW: I gotta say, I have probably fallen in love with this place! I have gotten massages at other foot massage establishments, and also fancy massages at other places. Put simply, this place have met all my needs in looking for a massage: a good quality one hour massage at a very awesome price. PROS: -inexpensive! They advertise $20 for one hour FOOT massage but they actually massage the whole body -you keep your clothes ON (LADIES! please note when they massage your back your back shirt with be lifted and bra unsnapped) -the place is very clean - the seating arrangement was very comfortable and cozy to relax in -the masseuse I had was professional and did not make it feel awkward whatsoever. The staff were very courteous and all had a calm and happy demeanor -nice curtains. Thick enough to divide you from the people next to you, but also has a small window to see through in case you came with a friend/family just to make sure everything is ok - they did not talk during the massage! Hallelujah!! If they had to talk they did it in quiet tone - received a full hour as advertised -did not pressured or hound me for tip when the massage ended -pay at end of service CONS: - masseuse may have limited English. - you don't get your own private room. What to expect for newbies for foot massage: You'll be seated and a warm bucket of water will be be brought out (roll up ur pants) to dip ur feet in. Blanket will be placed over you and the massage will start from your face, scalp, then to your shoulders. Towel is then placed over your eyes, where it'll continue to your arms (roll up your sleeves) and then your feet dried off for a foot/calf reflexology massage. Next you'll be prompted to roll over onto your tummy for them to work on your neck, shoulder, and arms. Next when working on your back your back shirt will be lifted (ladies prepare to have your bra unhooked!) Next the buttocks moving down towards your thigh. The massage will end soon when they massage your scalp again. Since the foot massage turned out amazing, I think I'm going to try a full body massage next time to check out the difference. read more

I've been to Happy Foot twice now and I've got to say I'm a fan. It's no luxury resort, don't get me wrong, but for $20 you get a hour long massage. It's a little whole in the wall..and they have chairs lined with towels that get convert into beds. Both times I went I got men and the pressure was a little more than I like, but again I can't complain. It's not the most serene, once they had some friends come in and they chatted for a good 20 minutes while I was getting my massage. Would I go back here yeah. I was definitely just a little apprehensive because of the mixed yelp reviews and based on my phone call to schedule the appointment.....The language barrier to schedule the appointment was a little rough but I thought for the price I'll give it a try. (That and I was in a lot of pain, I didn't see many other viable options after scrolling through yelp reviews) I get really bad migraines and my neck and shoulder muscles turn into solid rock. My regular massage place which is heavenly was not able to get me in. This place doesn't have all the extras like heated electric blankets which I love, calm, relaxing music with dark, comfortable, and quiet rooms BUT for the price Ann or Anna got the job done. She is certainly strong, and to reinforce what another yelper said, they don't ask med or hard....they only do DEEP TISSUE massage. It did hurt, I won't lie, but I will admit afterward I felt like my muscles were loose and my bad circulation was improved. I could breathe deeply again. I did the one hour full body (only neck, shoulders, and head per my request) massage. I went on a weekday early afternoon, I could see how the crowded massage chairs/tables could make for a very noisy environment when the place is busy. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest which is kinda important because it speaks to the sanitation of the entire place in general, but again, it was cheap and convenient. Unlike other reflexology places, the staff whispers and the masseuses will softly ask if the pressure is alright. They also use oil to massage you which is always great. It's a great spot for a quick massage when you're on a budget. As a tip, wear loose clothing, like basketball shorts and a loose tank top. They charge an extra $2 for using a credit or debt card. $20 for a one-hour massage?! Yes, please! The name of this place doesn't really explain what you are in for. It's a semi-private full-body - we are talking head to toe - deep tissue massage with a lot of focus on your feet. I consider myself a massage "snob." I am extremely particular about my massages and like a very therapeutic, deep tissue massage, and I definitely get it from this place. When I first started going there, I asked for George. I don't think he works there anymore, so now I use Berto who uses a lot of pressure. I want to cry out but refrain since the room is not private. Kevin is good too. The massages are so good I pay double for the tip and would never leave anything less than a 50% tip - these masseuses work hard. And did I mention that it's $20 for a one-hour massage?! It's quite unfortunate that I have to leave a bad review, because my first experience was great. The second time around was when it went downhill. 1st visit, I did a 60 min foot massage with Peter. It was excellent, no issues and because of how great it was we came back. They were doing something good right? 2nd visit, I wasn't able to get Peter because he was booked. George ended up being my guy for a 90 min foot massage. The second he laid his hands on my face, it reeked of cigarettes. I told myself it'd be fine because it was only for a short while. The remaining of the massage felt like I was just being rubbed. I didn't enjoy as much as my first time. It wasn't until the end of the service when it was a train wreak. Thank goodness I had a friend who spoke Mandarin, because I didn't understand anything. My initial tip for a $35 service wasn't good enough for Georg. He demanded a $10 tip, and apparently it was a requirement. No where states that there was a minimum of tipping. When he brought back my tip and told me it wasn't enough, he told the front desk in Mandarin to not let me leave until I paid. He was going to trap me there if he didn't get his $10 tip. This is so bizarre to me. My friend understood everything and helped me solve the issue because $10 was beyond 20%. I ended up giving him half, they said just know for next time...NEXT TIME? The guy who did my massage was very, very rough and definitely squished my knots on my back using his elbows. He also had allergies and his nose was stuffy so he stopped my massage midway and began to walk to the bathroom, blow his nose in the sink, and wash his hands. Then, he came back to me and proceeded to massage me... although, his hands were still a little wet. I honestly don't know how I was awkwardly still able to stay in this dreadful situation. Also, you are paying for 30 minutes for a full massage. I feel like I was not able to really get my money worth since he decided to use the restroom and waste time. Place is clean and people are very polite, and best of all they give good massage for just the price of $20 (not including tips of course) for a 60 minute massage session. Happy Foot is probably the best way to spend $20! For that amount you get a one hour full body massage. It's going to be painful as they go through each knot and reach each pressure point you'll probably squirm from the pain but it will feel so good afterwards! These asian foot massage places are no joke. They don't ask you in the beginning "what kind of pressure would you like" so be prepared! It'll be worth it in the end when you leave Happy Foot feeling like jelly. I prefer this place over Golden Island Massage in Richmond because it's cleaner. They give you a paper towel cutout for you to lay your face on when you switch positions on the chair. It's also seems less crowded. Even though you're in a room shared with other chairs you can't really tell that other people are there. Whereas at Golden Island it feels like there's always people walking in and out. Parking is also much easier at this complex! I got really good advice before coming here that I think other people should follow if they want to make the most of their experience... wear pants that can roll up or shorts and wear a tank top! I didn't make an appt so I just did walk in around 1:30pm they weren't very busy in the afternoon (maybe cuz it's Monday) so it was all good. I didn't see any female masseur so I went with a guy. Everything was pretty good; I chose the $20.00 foot massage which comes with about 30 mins body.They used clean towels and the environment was very quiet. (no loud chatting in Chinese so you can relax) The guy worked from my head to toe and he did hot stone massage on my feet and that feels so good. He asked me if I wanted oil massage on my back but yet he was a male masseur and I prefer a female masseur to do that, so I told him I will skip the oil massage and I would like him to focus on the knots of my back, shoulder and neck instead. He did a great job on my back, perfect pressure though it hurts a little but I know I will feel much better afterwards. I will def call and make an appt with a female masseur next time :) read more

Got a 1 hour full body massage here. The atmosphere was overall quite, and place was clean. I wasn't pleased with my back, shoulder and neck massage. He mostly used his elbow so he never worked out the knots or stiffness in my upper body. Since he didn't speak English he didn't understand stand when I asked him to use his fingers for my neck and shoulders. I have had way better 10 minute neck/back massages as a part of a chiropractic appointment than the 30+ minutes I had my upper body worked on here. However he did do a good job on my arms, legs and feet. So if I go back it will only be for a foot massage. I pretty much paid $25 ($20 plus $5 tip cause I'm nice) to be irritated the rest of the night. Been to this place plenty of times before and it's pretty much what you would expect for a $20 one hour massage. You get what you pay for which I was completely fine with before. THIS TIME, I had a kink in my neck and decided to schedule an appointment. The lady barely touched my neck. When she got to my feet, literally after every two strokes, she would just hold onto my feet. No pressure or anything. Like just hold onto my foot with her limp hands. Maybe she thought I was asleep and decided not to apply any pressure? I then moved around to make sure she knew I was still awake. She kept doing it though. Felt more like she kept dozing off during the massage. No joke! Halfway through, I felt a towel being tossed onto my body. Opened my eyes and surely there was a guy standing over me holding towels. I guess it was for her to use later? Anyways, she touched (I wouldn't even call it massaging at this point) only half of my back, time ended, I tipped the minimum and I left as fast as I could so I wouldn't make a scene.
