Pretty unsuspecting place here in Fairfield and ya did it again, town! If you're looking for an upscale over the top here we are experience, this ain't the place but my... The food is great. I'm usually not in the least up for orange chicken but it was nicely crisped and the gooey sauce didn't sog the breading. The broccoli beef was also tender and flavored nicely. So if you're in the area give this place a nibble or gorge yourself, who cares you won't regret it. (They also give lemon in your water and it comes in glasses. Yes I'm a cup snob) read more

With this being the closest Chinese restaurant to my new place, I was really wanting to like this place. Unfortunately, this place was a flop in both, the food and customer service. First impression when walking in this place was WTH! An employee was vacuuming and made eye contact with me, but no "hello" or "we will be right with you." Another employee walks out from the back, then from across the room, just stares at me. After 30 awkward seconds of staring at each other, I make a sarcastic "hello" because that staring game could have gone on forever. Seriously, the service here is atrocious! The food is no better. I ordered the sesame chicken, shrimp fried rice and honey walnut prawns for take out. The shrimp fried rice is as bland as they come. Also, the prawns were rubbery. Overcooked shrimp equals bad. The sesame chicken was too saucy. It had no crispiness left in it. The honey walnut prawns were the better of the three dishes ordered. Although crispy and hot, the honey sauce was on the bland side. Kinda old school but I really like this place. We sometimes order takeout for movie nite and we appreciate the quality of flavor and textures they deliver. Crispy stuff comes to you really crispy, garlic dishes come with HELLA garlic ( the way we like it) and all flavors are well balanced. They're even thoughtful enough to cut little vents in the takeout containers so steam escapes and doesn't make your crispies all squishy. And they pack some sauces separately so u can add the sauces at home for optimum texture preservation. Prices are fair and variety is good. We're happy with Happy Garden. read more

So I actually heard a lot of poor things about this restaurant prior to eating here last month. By the reviews on yelp and what I've heard others I was a little hesitant about having a group meeting (of 20 people) here but I still gave it a shot... I'm not sure but I think this place might be under new management or maybe changed kitchen staff, I could be wrong. Anyway, I was very satisfied with the service and the food was great! When I arrived a the restaurant our meeting area was set up at one side of the restaurant. After everyone arrived the food came out very quickly- dish after dish of very well cooked Chinese food. (Its hard to find good Chinese food in this area- but being Chinese myself I thought it was good. We were served 6 dishes plus rice at $10 per person. We had Honey Walnut Prawns, Mongolian Beef, Chicken with Asparagus, Pork with String Bean, Combination of Mixed Vegetable, Chicken or Beef or BBQ pork or Vegetable Chow Mein. Our family loves Happy garden!! They are open during this pandemic and are only doing take outs. Great service, awesome staff! Food is always fresh, we always get the deep fried flounder, salt and pepper ribs with extra jalapeños, and more! At the end of our meal the receipt was brought out to us on a small black tray. Sitting directly on top of our receipt are two UNWRAPPED fortune cookies. The ink on the receipts is very toxic and should never touch your food. The ink contaminates those trays as well. Well, mystery solved! I always wondered why folks went to Sticky Rice instead of the Happy Garden. Now I know why. Food is okay, prices are not that much easier than Sticky Rice though. Potstickers HAVE to be evenly cooked, not dark brown on one side, and raw on the other. The wait staff are like robots...NO customer contact at all, as if they don't even care if you're there or not. On the plus side, they are very quick on a to go order. I doubt I'll go back...if I'm gonna spend that kind of $$, I'd rather go to the Sticky Rice where they know how to treat their customers. We really wanted to like this place. It's not like we have many options in Cordelia... We ordered Pork Egg Rolls, Hot and Sour Soup, Szechuan Green Beans, General Chicken, and Chicken Chow Mein. None of it stood out. The best thing was the green beans, but I've had better. The egg rolls were ok, but greasy. The soup was neither hot nor sour. Both chicken dishes suffered from a general lack of flavor. Basically, none of it was flavorful, and the dishes marked spicy were not only not spicy, but not flavorful either. Came here today after hitting up some spots in American Canyon and heading home to Suisun. My parents have been to this spot many times and we all finally got to go here together. The staff is incredibly friendly and the place is very clean. We ordered war wonton soup, chow mein Hong Kong style, sesame chicken, prawns and string beans and fried rice. The food was great! I'm not a hue fan of mushrooms and a couple dishes had them, but I ended up fishing them out. The prices are good especially for groups of at least four. I definitely enjoyed my time here and will come back for more soon! read more

So, somehow finding this place was hard thanks to our GPS. There was some construction going on and it led us to some weird abandoned area on the freeway which was pretty scary. We came here for a birthday party and the whole restaurant was rented out - it's a pretty small place. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Sometimes chinese food could be overly salty or mushy, but everything was well balanced and had the right consistency. The walnut prawns wasn't drenched in sauce and was crispy enough, the chow mien wasn't too soggy, vegetables were appetizing and with plenty of garlic, and best of all, I was able to tell if the dishes were pork or chicken! Service is non-existent in this place. Extremely rude owner and server. One menu item was only stated as "beef ToFu." I wanted more information and when I asked the owner, he leans over by supporting himself on a vacant chair at our table and says, "you know tofu, right and you know beef, right?" with me nodding at him both times with a tone that alluded to me being as dumb and then after nodding to both he says, "so there". But a few minutes into our meal, one of his regular customers comes in and asks about the "beef to fu" and he lengthily describes it to her. Mind you, we waited to be seated when we got to the restaurant and that was the extent of our interaction with him menugate started. I really, really want to give this place 5 Stars for the excellent food and will still come her to eat but the service there is terrible. Everyone does look unhappy here and the staff seems like they are not allowed to talk to the customers. Have these people ever been to another restaurant to see how customer service is supposed to work? Not So Happy Garden. Also, I do wish Chinese food restaurants in the area would get with the times and get soda fountains to show some return love to their customers because being served a can and a glass of ice is very, very tacky. The moment you pull into the shopping center and you see happy garden the first thing you think is all look Chinese food probably taste like everywhere else that you go in the service is probably somewhat stellar or can potentially not be stellar if you come to this area pull into the parking lot you will see it in the middle of Safeway and CVS the staff is very friendly they set you down the offer water and tell you that Special the owner and his staff are really good to everybody it was our third time visiting the place we went for my mother-in-law's birthday she enjoys it loves it the Hong Kong noodles were amazing as though honey walnut shrimp if you're in the area stop in this place you won't regret it lots of flavor in the food and the service is great very very friendly read more

I like the chow mein, and that they have me sweet n sour sauce on the side. The small salad looked to weird with a watered down dressing or water inside cup so I didn't eat that. I went back 2 days after and ordered lemon chicken. It was meh to me. Not a strong lemon flavor at all, and this time they didn't give me the sauce on the side so the batter was so soggy by the time I got back to work with my food. Customer service is great. Oh and the portion size is very small for a $9.50 lunch special. I paid $11 total to change steamed rice for chow mein. I didn't like that you have to pay a minimum of $15 to use debit or credit card. I never seen anyone have their debit/credit card have that high amount minimum spend. Yikes. So overall, I won't be back because its not worth the trip all the way on the other side of town for an expensive small portion. read more

Best duck dish ever! I used to drive to Berkeley if I craved duck but not anymore! I would suggest to call ahead to check on the inventory for duck since they only have limited orders. Also, the owner is super chill and sweet it's fun talking to him. Besides the duck dish, our family loves the Mongolian beef or Mongolian chicken. If you like appetizer, the sizzling soup is a great starter. It's another plus because they are located inside a shopping plaza so you can enjoy shopping, Starbucks, Safeway and etc. read more

Very poor quality meat. Seems to taste at least a day old. Stopped going there after two attempts.

The food is usually ok , but lately they have messed up our orders and we haven't received our meals until after the rest of the party has finished there meals. Even when you explain your order they still mess it up. Both times they never discounted or removed the price of the meal that wasn't received. Eat at your own risk you may or may not get fed, but you can be assured you will be charged full price for their screw up. read more
