    Kung Po Chicken.

I believed i had tried every other small take-out Chinese place in my area. But then I heard strong recommendations for this place and I am excited to give it a taste. The wonton soup was particularly highly-regarded, so I tried that. Along with a Fried Wontons appetizer and some Kung Po chicken. I must admit that the food is not anything to rave about. However, it's fresh, it's not drowning in sauce and they give very good service. I went back once more and got my little test dish (steamed white rice with brown egg foo young gravy). I have not found a place in decades that produces this excellently. And I still haven't. Not bad, but bland, light colored thick gravy. The search continues.

First time getting take out here. I'm very picky when it comes to good Chinese Food since growing up in Brooklyn and being among some of the best little spots. I kept it simple to test the basics - Broccoli in Garlic Sauce with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. The broccoli was a good soft but crunchy consistency, the garlic sauce was good and had the sweetness you'd expect. The fried rice is where I didn't quite think it was good. Lost a star for that. A few pieces of hard dried pork, and the rice itself was also hard in spots. I like more onions and sprouts mixed in. The egg roll was good and not at all greasy which I liked! I also ordered the fried baby shrimp appetizer and it came with a huge amount of shrimp for the price. They were a decent size which was expected given the "baby shrimp" name. The batter was good and also not greasy. Bring your own Tartar Sauce as it was not provided. Would recommend and will definitely be back to try more dishes. PS. The staff was also friendly which I appreciated!

We loved everything that we ordered! My husband and I were looking for a well liked good health rated Chinese restaurant and we discovered Choi Jin Parking was easy it's diagonally across from McArthur hs in a small strip showing center. I was welcomed s soon as I walked in and my phone order was ready in about 5 minutes. I called it in about 15 minutes earlier The food was hot and looked and tasted great. The price and quantity of food was good The pork in my subhuman wonton soup was lean and not fatty like so many other Chinese restaurants The dim sum looked and tasted great and the dough was thin and delicious We asked them to make a dish with only certain vegetables and it came out perfectly I will definitely be back here for more takeout The only negative is that the waiting area could use an update and it was a little chilly while I waited in this cold night!!

I nearly ascended when I got my food. The sweet and sour chicken was wondrous. Egg roll knocked me off my chair.

Not edible. Threw all of it in the garbage. Chewy fatty meat and everything tasted like oil that hasn't been changed in years.

The egg rolls are the big ones you probably grew up with, full size, balance of cabbage and shrimp. Soup dumplings were well made, perfect soup ratio. Fried rice was delicious! Noodles on point, shrimp wonton soup excellent, and the shrimp with broccoli entree was pretty good too (albeit a little heavier than I anticipated). Our dissatisfaction came from the service. INCREDIBLY slow given the restaurant wasn't packed. It took an unacceptable amount of time from when we sat down to when our waiter even arrived, and even longer to get the complimentary noodles and tea. Even when we finally placed our order, it took over 30 minutes for a couple of appetizers and 4 entrees, one of which they got wrong... and what was probably most irritating is that the staff spent more time and attention cleaning a table that just finished eating, rather than attending to diners still in the restaurant. And it was after 8pm when they close at 9, it wasn't like another party was coming in for that table. I love this place man, but ya gotta be better.

***INDO-CHINESE FLAVOR BOMB IN YOUR MOUTH*** ***SUPER…read moreFRIENDLY FAMILY-RUN RESTAURANT*** INDO-CHINESE? In the early 1800's a large number of Chinese citizens, immigrated to Calcutta, a city in the northern part of India, close to China. After becoming established, many of these immigrants started opening restaurants to support themselves. And then, because of a lack of certain ingredients, and to tailor the food to the palates of the Indian citizens, these Chinese chefs altered their recipes. And these new recipes, incorporated certain Indian spices, and a heavier use of spices and sauces - which made these new style dishes especially appealing - and created what is known today as Indo-Chinese, or Indian-style Chinese food. MASTER CHEF MIKE TENG Mike Teng, son of Hakka Chinese parents, was born and raised in India. He started cooking at 14, and eventually became a head chef preparing Indo-Chinese food in Mumbai. Then in 1984, he emigrated to the US and worked in the restaurant industry, until he became executive chef at the famous Jade Eatery & Lounge in Forrest Hills Queens. And it was here that he became notorious for his unique cuisine, and went on to receive numerous accolades. A DIFFERENT APPROACH After seven years of grueling work at Jade, Mike decided to take a break from the restaurant industry for a while. Then in 2019 he opened Teng's Restaurant, and set up operations in a way that would minimize work. As such, the restaurant would only open for dinner, between 4-11 PM, and there would be minimal table service. So let me explain how this works: You sit down at a table, and a friendly family member takes you order and helps with recommendations if necessary. And then you grab paper plates & cups, and plastic utensils from a shelf by the front counter. There's also a refrigerator here with drinks to choose from. And then the food is served to you at the table in take-out style containers. THE KEY TO ORDERING HERE There are a relatively large number of items on the menu, but most of the dishes can be broken down into a few different styles, such as Hakka Chili, Manchurian, Salt And Pepper, Orange, Szechuan, Basil, Kung Pao, and Ginger & Scallion. And the key to ordering here is to avoid choosing multiple dishes in the same style, as the meal & flavors can become one-note in nature. But if your vigilant, and pick some of the best items from each style, you will be rewarded with an Indo-Chinese flavor bomb in your mouth. FIRST TIME? GIVE THESE A SHOT So a few recommendations to try on a first visit, if you're able to enjoy spicy foods would be: - Hakka Chili Style Chicken or Beef - Salt and Pepper Style Fish Filets or Chicken - Orange Chicken or Kung Pao Chicken - Manchurian Style Fish or Chicken - General Tso's Chicken or Tofu - Ginger and Scallion Chicken - Szechuan Wontons or Momos - Orange Glazed Wings or Hakka Chili Wings - Basil Fried Rice - Hakka Noodles And here's a few vegetable recommendations: - Manchurian style Cauliflower or Salt and Pepper Cauliflower - Szechuan Potato or Potato with Black Bean Sauce - Spicy Stir Fried String Beans. - Mapo Tofu - Manchow Soup with or without meat YOU'RE PROBABLY GONNA LOVE THIS PLACE After many visits here with dozens of different people, I've noticed first-timers always react the same way when trying one of chef Teng's best dishes. Their eyes open wide, and the head starts slowly shaking side-to-side, and then I hear grunts of mmm! or wow! I mean really, it never fails to be a wonderful surprise for everyone. But don't get me wrong, not everything on the menu is a home run. For example, some of the Asian fusion dishes such as Pad Thai or Mango Chicken are just weird. So even though there are some things to overlook here, such as no lunch service, or the cafeteria style vibe, If you choose some of the chef's best dishes, for sure that flavor bomb is going to hit you right in the mouth, and you'll definitely be coming back here for more. I always do.
