Chinese Take Out Review Stepson is moving to Long Island for a new job at nearby Resorts World. He and a co-worker roommate leased an upstairs apartment in Wantagh. We are assisting. We beat the moving van here from Bucks County and by early evening everyone was hungry and I was nominated to order and pickup dinner. As the peeps were all Asian, but for me, I Yelped this nearby Chinese kitchen about 2.2 miles away. Ordered by phone and it was all ready when I arrived 15 minutes later. Guessing what Chinese van driver and assistants wanted was a challenge, but I went with fairly standard stuff. Beef Chow Fun, Vegetarian Egg Foo Young, General's Chicken and large Egg Rolls for one and all. Cost just south of $60. It was all consumed in one sitting and no one complained. I thought the plates decent. If I had to pick a winner, it would be the General Tso's, which we had somewhat spicy and had a mild crispness. The Egg Rolls were better than average as well. I will be visiting regularly and exploring the scene in the Wantagh area. Auspicious beginnings so far. 3.5 Stars read more

I believed i had tried every other small take-out Chinese place in my area. But then I heard strong recommendations for this place and I am excited to give it a taste. The wonton soup was particularly highly-regarded, so I tried that. Along with a Fried Wontons appetizer and some Kung Po chicken. I must admit that the food is not anything to rave about. However, it's fresh, it's not drowning in sauce and they give very good service. I went back once more and got my little test dish (steamed white rice with brown egg foo young gravy). I have not found a place in decades that produces this excellently. And I still haven't. Not bad, but bland, light colored thick gravy. The search continues. read more

First time getting take out here. I'm very picky when it comes to good Chinese Food since growing up in Brooklyn and being among some of the best little spots. I kept it simple to test the basics - Broccoli in Garlic Sauce with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. The broccoli was a good soft but crunchy consistency, the garlic sauce was good and had the sweetness you'd expect. The fried rice is where I didn't quite think it was good. Lost a star for that. A few pieces of hard dried pork, and the rice itself was also hard in spots. I like more onions and sprouts mixed in. The egg roll was good and not at all greasy which I liked! I also ordered the fried baby shrimp appetizer and it came with a huge amount of shrimp for the price. They were a decent size which was expected given the "baby shrimp" name. The batter was good and also not greasy. Bring your own Tartar Sauce as it was not provided. Would recommend and will definitely be back to try more dishes. PS. We loved everything that we ordered! My husband and I were looking for a well liked good health rated Chinese restaurant and we discovered Choi Jin Parking was easy it's diagonally across from McArthur hs in a small strip showing center. I was welcomed s soon as I walked in and my phone order was ready in about 5 minutes. I called it in about 15 minutes earlier The food was hot and looked and tasted great. The price and quantity of food was good The pork in my subhuman wonton soup was lean and not fatty like so many other Chinese restaurants The dim sum looked and tasted great and the dough was thin and delicious We asked them to make a dish with only certain vegetables and it came out perfectly I will definitely be back here for more takeout The only negative is that the waiting area could use an update and it was a little chilly while I waited in this cold night!! read more

This place is alright. Every time I order from there my stomach gets upset. I never was like that years ago. Not sure what they did, but I can't order food from there. The white rice is bad too. They put some sort of oil in it or something, because it tastes different from any other place. The texture is off too. Not sure if I can order from there anymore. Although tonight we ordered light, it was enough to make me want to come back for more!! 2 pints of Wanton Soup, 2 Egg Rolls, quart of Roast Pork Yat Gaw Mein and a pint of Shrimp Fried Rice, all for $13.00. The Wantons were big and delicious and filled with flavorful meat, can never say too much about an egg roll except it was good, the Gaw Mein was delicious - it was fiiled with so much Shrimp, Pork, Carrots, Chinese Cabbage and Noodles there was hardly any soup and the Shrimp Fried Rice was made perfectly with an abundance of Shrimp and lots of onions, just the way we ordered it. My regular place was closed due to weather so we decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. They don't offer delivery so we had to pick up. They also don't seem to have a website or online menu (Yelp menu is old but pretty much the same) but it is standard Chinese so not that much of an issue. They provided a generous amount of food (there's a reason for that) but it wasn't great. Everything had way too much breading on it like another review stated. The egg rolls, general chicken, orange chicken, and fried cheese wontons all had this breading issue and some pieces had no meat at all. I guess that's why they packed the container full? The food just tasted ok. There was no real flavor or spice to either chicken. The fried cheese wonton filling was very good though as was the dipping sauce. read more

But the quality has been so inconsistent that you really don't know what you're going to get anymore! we've ordered beef and broccoli, chicken and broccoli, shrimp with lobster sauce, pork with Chinese vegetables, chicken or shrimp with blackbean sauce etc. etc. some dishes were horrible, specifically pork with Chinese vegetables. Most were average at best...Such as the shrimp with black bean sauce, roast pork egg foo young, steamed dumplings, egg rolls And the four seasons. I'd say the only thing that I've ever had that was consistently good is the wonton soup. Would like to have said this place is good but it is proving to be completely inconsistent. Pretty solid chinese food. The best I've had on Long Island so far since moving from Brooklyn. I'm very biased since I usually only eat the best of the best Chinese in downtown Manhattan, from Mott St to Bayard St near Canal. I've been to them all. How's Shanghai, Hop Kee, Wo Hop, Etc., This place is not them. But they will make you, solid fried rice, Lo Mein and anything with Broccoli. The shrimps rolls are really good and there General Tso is ok. If your Hungry this place will feed the family and you won't be disappointment given your only other options out here on Long Island are Pizza, Italian and any chain like Chili's and the rest of the rainbow franchise. It is cheap and not shabby in quality. This is Americanized Chinese food so it's a lot of sesame chicken and beef-and-broccoli on the menu. The lunch special was an awesome deal when I was a student. The only fried item that I haven't liked from here was the sweet and sour chicken, and that was really only because the breading was not my style, not because it tasted bad. I really love the pepper steak as well. The char siu is dry and sweet, worth ordering to share as an appetizer. As long as you understand that it is cheap Chinese take out you're getting, not gourmet food or authentic dish from Chinatown, it should be a pleasent experience. read more

I do not know who rated this place 4 stars but to me I didn't think it was worth it. I wanted to get a deal and saw they had 5-6 dollar plates so I thought wow not bad and ordered 3 orders. I got a small order but thinking that maybe it's bigger than your average small but I was wrong. I have never seen a plate so small in my life. They're very accommodating and will steam your sesame chicken if you don't want to eat something battered and fried.
