Walked in on a Thursday evening and weren't even sure the place was open. It was empty, an uncleared table sat in front, quite hot inside, the atmosphere and the man behind the counter who did stand up when we walked in, but it all was not welcoming or inviting and we decided to go elsewhere. As we were leaving, the employee behind the counter became very angry, accusing us of coming in just to use the restroom and insisting we had to buy something. That wasn't true--we had genuinely considered eating there, and my wife eventually did as he asked and bought a bottle of water before we left. His anger was extreme and increased. It was odd and uncomfortable. I understand they may have issues with people using the restroom without buying anything, especially given the location, but being spoken to that way was completely unnecessary. Tasteless pizza, like cheesy cardboard. What was once a lovely sushi and ramen joint is now a empty hole. Also, don't buy into five star reviews just because they managed to buy vegan cheese. So many people overrate restaurants with terrible food because they happen to cater to a small section of people with one offering. Favorite indian pizza place in SF! We got the Paneer Pizza and the vegetable pizza, it was plenty to share for 6 people. We ordered in advance, and pick up was on time. As someone who is lactose intollerant I absolutely love Happy King Pizza. They are one of the few pizza places that offers vegan cheese for almost any of their regular pizza options and the vegan cheese is actually tasty! Every time I have ordered from Happy king the service has always been friendly and very fast. The workers are very responsive and you are able to just text them to place a pick up order which is very convenient. This place is scary! Never in my life have I been scolded by restaurant employee. I walked in and asked the guy pictured about a few of the menu items. When I realized the total was $31 for two slices, a brownie, and a piece of cake, all of which I knew would be very low quality, I politely said, "oh okay no thank you." In an instant, the man screamed, "F you!" And told me I wasted his time... there's no way it was over 90 seconds. Snapped his fingers at me and told me to get out of his "restaurant." I was appalled. I literally had the worst experience today at Happy King Pizza as a potential new customer that I have had at any restaurant ever in decades of regularly dining out. As mentioned in other reviews, the employees are extremely hostile and yell profanities at you if you decide not to order food. When my friend and I went to the restaurant, and after consideration, decided not to order their $7.50 Pepperoni pizza slice (the only slice they had available at the time), we thought that the pizza was very overpriced and were also concerned that the restaurant had no customers in the entire dining area whatsoever, as San Francisco was very busy hosting SalesForce conference and most restaurants are packed full of customers. When we declined to order the pizza slice, the employee at the front counter accused me of being homeless (I am a working professional in the city and was wearing business casual attire at the time), made numerous ad hominem attacks against me like "**** you," "**** your sister," "**** your mother," and then called his other employee in the restaurant out to harass me as well. Needless to say, I left the restaurant and as I was leaving out the door the other employee punches me in the back, whereupon I called the police. The police did not arrest him, because they stated there were no operating video cameras in the restaurant, and the restaurant had no customers whatsoever to serve as witnesses, even though this week is SalesForce week in San Francisco, one of the busiest events of the year. They stated that my friend, who had come with me to the restaurant, was allegedly not a sufficient witness of what went on, merely because he is a friend of mine. The employees gave the police a completely fabricated story regarding the incident. These employees are hostile and given that the restaurant was completly empty on one of the busiest days in San Francisco, I can't imagine that it will be in business long. Without question the absolute worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had in my life and not what I needed today when trying out a new restaurant in San Francisco. read more
