There was a $19.99 AYCE lunch special so we thought this is the best way to try it. The service was only ok.... The waitress we had seemed distracted and did not honour any of the special hacks we tried.... Also they seemed disappointed we were only interested in the AYCE basic which didn't include the sauce bar. We were disappointed as well that no sauces came at all with this special.... I am like hold up....sauces is the best part of hot pot. Anyways we asked just for soy sauce and they said there was a charge for that as well... at this point I am ready to get up and leave... seriously???? No sauce bar and charge for soy sauce???? WTF? The food is fresh, delicious and generous portions but everything else was disappointing and lacking here. I knew there was a reason we held back trying this place. Maybe their regular menu is different but I don't recommend their AYCE $19.99 special.... Doesn't come with any sauces and the charge of soy sauce says alot to me about their service mentality.... Went for lunch on a weekday. This location has some parking behind the building. We were asked upon arriving if this was our first time at Haidilao. It was. They escorted us to our table where the waiter asked if we wanted a membership, no explanation. We said no at first since we don't live near a Haidilao, but we later changed our minds after finding out the lunch AYCE deal was based on signing up for a membership (free, just provide your email or phone). Note: they don't make known the lunch AYCE unless you ask. The tablet to order on was a bit confusing to use; there were many options but only a specific subset were included in lunch AYCE. It would have been nice for the server to explain better and guide us through the hot pot experience, but our server all but disappeared for most of our experience. We found them walking around and asked about our drinks that were seemingly forgotten for ~15 mins. This was the first hotpot I've been to where only the meat and apps are brought to you, veggies/noodles/shrimp/chicken were all a ~20 ft walk from the table. They provide small plates so you have to make several trips to grab everything you want. It was a bit hectic and inconvenient compared to having them delivered to your table. The quality of the meat and add-ins was good. There was a variety of sauce options, with the fresh veggie/fruit options being cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, cantalope, and watermelon. There was mung bean soup and ice jelly as dessert. All were very fresh and tasty. Very fitting and satisfying for traditional Chinese flavor palates. We ordered the tomato and spicy broth, apparently the 2 most popular flavors. The servers refilled the broth and brought additional meat options once the current meat plate was finished. At the end of the meal, they offered a Melona equivalent bar. Overall, for the price of what it is, it's alright. The quality of ingredients is good, but the process is hectic and service is good only if you're familiar with the hot pot process already. read more

This place is a great place to gather, eat good food and chat. It's such a vibe. They have good quality food although it's definitely on the pricey side of hotpot. I recommend getting the quad soup base - you don't need to get 4 broths. You can get 2 soups and it'll be cheaper than if you get the 2 soup container. The sauce bar is great! Not only do they have sauce, they have fruit (oranges, tomatoes) chips/ snacks and dessert (red bean sago, ice jelly) This place no doubt has great customer service. The waiters come by often, refilling water and hot pot base, taking away used plates, gathering impurities from the broth over time. In the drawer below your table, there's hair ties, toothpicks, extra chopsticks and napkins if needed. I would def come by again. read more

Came here on our visit to Vancouver with family. We enjoyed a variety of dishes cooked in the hot pot. The beef was tender and the shrimp balls yummy. Sauces were curated by our daughter-in-law and were a great addition to the cooked fish and meat and vegetables. Servers were attentive and helpful in ordering. I love hotpot and I've been to several other hotpot restaurants in Vancouver. I tried Haidilao recently, and it was awesome! The soup bases are very flavourful, which is so important for hotpot food to taste good. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. I loved the squid rolls, vermicelli, lettuce, etc. I liked that each table had a drawer for napkins, extra chopsticks, etc. so we didn't have to wait to ask the staff to give us extra utensils. The sauce bar was clean, and it included a bean soup dessert, but it was too watered down and tasteless. The grass jelly tasted low quality and hard, like it was from a can. Service was very friendly. The washroom was nice, modern, and clean. The waiting area was a nice bonus. We had to wait for our table, but we got to enjoy some hot tea and free popcorn while waiting and chatting with our friends. I took one star off because of the noddle show. While it was entertaining for first-timers, the space is so limited that I saw the noodle stretch and touch the floor once, which was not sanitary, and the noodle show for the table next to ours had the noodle stretch so far that it hit the back of my head, which was unpleasant and also not sanitary... We will be back in a month to try more soup bases! But we won't get the noddle show again. read more

This was my 2nd time at this location and have had enjoyable experiences great time. If you're able to come for happy hour/certain deals during the week, it definitely pays off in the end. But overall, for the amount we ordered, the meal was roughly $35 per person, which I find standard/reasonable for hotpot. All haidilaos have excellent service and this location is no different. The food is more of a premium a la carte style usually, so expect that in terms of cost. The sauce bar is $3.99 per person but I think it's a very worthwhile add as you can go back unlimited times. There are snacks, fruits, desserts and of course the sauces you can mix. It's always fun to try out the "cheat code" phrases for free stuff -- albeit I always get embarrassed. We got a free pack of tomato hot pot broth and a toy! A tip too is that you don't have to fill all 4 compartments of the pot with paid broths. We left 2 of ours as water, and I know some folks add in sauces from the sauce bar to their water sections to make their own creations. read more

This was our second visit to Haidilao Hot Pot, where we celebrated multiple family birthdays, and once again it was an absolutely phenomenal experience--especially for my seven grandkids! Our server, Lin, was exceptional and truly helped make our celebration special. She was attentive, patient in explaining the menu and soup bases, and her recommendations were perfect. The entire team was fast, friendly, and consistently went above and beyond. The food was outstanding, from the rich, flavorful soup bases to the incredibly fresh meats and vegetables. It got a bit slow at times here; seems they were understaffed and very busy. food was pretty standard. pretty solid all-around for their soup bases and hotpot items. We had a serving of prawns that were bad - mush and fishy. They quickly offered us a replacement of new, different variety of prawns that were great. We celebrated a birthday and brought our own cake in. They were very accommodating of this and well-organized for it. Sauce bar was typical. The buffet appetizers were nothing special (some deep fried stuff). Also a selection of fresh fruit (typical). They also have Bing Fen at the buffet as usual, which is one of my favourite things about Haidilao. They have an underground parking lot (free) behind the restaurant. The problem is, the spots are WAY too narrow. if you have a compact car, you can barely fit into a spot and still get out of the car. But many people park their SUVs in there, and cannot even stay within the lines. And its not just bad parking; the spots are super narrow. Many of the spots between 2 parked cars were left empty because on both sides the cars went over the line, making the middle spot too small. So if you have something other than a small car, dont even bother. Just find street parking. The restaurant itself is cramped with narrow walkways and lots of crowding. overall, food 4/5. Spicy broth- this was actually ridiculously spicy, it was delicious but my spice tolerance could not handle Mushroom broth- highly recommend, has a hint of sweetness and they give you so many mushrooms in the broth that you don't really need to order sides of mushrooms Marbled beef- so delicious and tender and cooks very fast, this was so good. It's also very well flavored even without the spicy broth Marinated chicken breast- had lots of flavor which was great however I found it to be incredibly bony. If it wasn't bony I would have enjoyed it a lot Lamb- a bit too chewy and dry but still alright Shrimp wontons- these were absolutely delicious, the dumpling wrapping was great as well as the flavor of the shrimp Tofu- unfortunately didn't like this at all- it had no flavor even when put in both broths and I didn't like the texture We ordered side dishes of two different mushrooms, potato slices, lotus root, ramen noodles, and dancing noodles. Highly recommend the dancing noodles as they dance with the long noodle which is a lot of fun- just make sure not to overcook the noodle as it becomes too chewy! Passionfruit juice- one of their most popular drinks however I found it a bit too sweet (even with having a sweet tooth). I wish it was served colder but with the incredibly spicy broth it really helped cool the spice flavor for me. They also have a huge sauce bar where you can get and make unlimited sauces, as well as serving porridge, ice jelly, and chips and salsa. Came here with my bff and I have to say, this Haidilao was even better than our experience in Bellevue, WA. The restaurant was packed on a Friday afternoon ~3:30pm and we actually came here since the hotpot buffet we wanted to go to was closed. We didn't have any reservations, but only had to wait 10 minutes. Our broth took longer than normal to come out and we were starving. When we informed our server, he apologized and we were comped a free doughnuts for our inconvenience. It's a very clean restaurant and I love how there's a bar on the side where you can get appetizers and fruits. Everything tasted delicious and the lunch deal was amazing. Best meal I've had so far in Vancouver. This place is an experience! Service is top notch-the team is the most attentive that I have ever experienced--taking away trays as soon as we finished using them, pouring water, and seemingly reading our minds for all of our needs. As an example, a team member offered to help us pull out glass noodles for the pot and place them into a bowl--he must have noticed we were having some challenges doing this just one moment before. The food is very tasty-we went with the pork bone broth base which was a big hit with everyone at the table as the additional flavors from the other ingredients we ordered worked very well with the base. We were also celebrating a birthday and the Haidilao team make it super fun by singing happy birthday to a fun music beat and a light up sign. They also had prepared a super cute bite size ice cream treat for the birthday girl. In fact, I would describe the whole ambiance at the restaurant as very festive. Haidilao has been known for their exceptional service and to be honest I have never been disappointed whenever I visit. This time was the first time we took baby with us to Haidilao and they definitely took it up another notch. The second we were seated the server magically pulled out a child sized apron for our one year old and was already in the process of putting on him. They also brought over child sized bowl and eating utensils in clueing scissors and a toy to keep him company. While we were eating ( which took over 2 hours) they also brought out steamed egg and a juice box to keep my son entertained during our time here. Eventually my son started fussing so I had to turn on some YouTube and again a phone stand magically appears. Haidilao is definitely one step ahead of everyone and prepared for everything. We went in March for dinner for two on a Saturday night and even with a reservation at 6.30pm there was a slight wait. However the spacious patio, that's covered and converted into a waiting area was warm and pleasant. There were plenty of snacks available, candies, biscuits and mints. And from time to time, a staff member would go around offering snacks on a tray. The staff at the host station and once inside were exceedingly thoughtful and apologetic. The hot pot experience is quite enjoyable and there's plenty of staff along the way who are ready to help and offer suggestions. I wouldn't hesitate going back. read more

So first time going to haidilao. The hype is real. The excess use of MSG is also too. Like Uncle Roger said MSG is good for you. I'm not so sure... the day after... Why is it 4 stars? They have covid19 safety measure in place. They give you a bag for your mask and hair tie for your hair to tie back when you gotta slurp and cook. They have acrylic panels distancing neighboring hot potters. Their customer service was wow. And oh if u get the special noodle there is even a show... not so covid19 friendly lol :P The soups were amazing, go for tomato base and mixed some spiced beef with celery in their. Damn you got yourself a treat. Then the pork bone broth with the noodles and then you can almost make your own dandan mian. Please note they didn't tell me that it cost to use the sauce station bar, this is around $8pp- unlimited but.... overpriced. I felt their dishes in general were slightly on the higher side. The fatty beef was quality and their was no option for veges?! Anyways I would recommend to not drink so much soup if you don't want to wake up with a dry mouth and if you accept the challenge of MSG? Please drink A LOT OF WATER!!!! read more

I guess there's really no need a particular season for hot pot. I have been to the Richmond and this location a few times ever since they opened. I really enjoy their attentive and friendly services from all of the staffs, they are one of the very few restaurants that make customer service one of their main priorities. The place is always clean and well ventilated; offering customers a nice comfortable dining experience. Here were the food we ordered this time around; 1. Pork bone and spicy broth with condiments. Pretty decent quality broth. 2. The self serve sauce and snack bar had some sliced melons, oranges, seaweed, edamame, jelly soup and sweet congee. 3. Quail eggs, mini cheese sausages, chive dumplings, pork blood, fried bean curb rolls, deep fried mini buns. Everything were fresh 4. Assorted vegetable platter. Was okay, could be a little bit more generous with the portion 5. Bamboo shoots, soft tofus, shrimp balls with cheese, assorted meatballs. I find the beef balls a bit stiff 6. Kobe beef and lamb slices. The meats were tender and fresh but is it really kobe beef or just wagyu? 7. Live geoduck. Very fresh and tasty Overall, a very nice and comfortable place to enjoy some quality hot pot with your partner or family as long as you don't like paying a little bit more. I say one of the reasons why I keep coming back here is because of their services and I really appreciate that. However, I still prefer the Dolar Hotpot a tiny bit more. read more

The room would usually cost a min spend of 500 dollars I believe otherwise. That was a pleasant surprise especially since it gave us more privacy to catch up. Haidilao is a renowned hot pot chain in China for a reason. They've built a brand on fantastic customer service and tasty food. Their Vancouver location definitely lives up to the hype. Service was amazing. As soon as we sat down, our waters were filled, and they were consistently filled by servers coming by. They also cleared dishes extremely quickly, and the things we ordered were sent out quicker than I expected. The ordering experience is also really great. They use tablets where you can instantly order dishes, and they are sent out soon after The self serve bar has my favorite rice porridge (pork with century egg) as well as a large selection of toppings and sauces to build your own dipping sauce. The food itself was delicious. We ordered the pork bone broth, and it was extremely flavorful. All the hot pot dishes we ordered were delicious, but I loved the beef and mini cheese dogs the most. We also were offered ice cream at the end which tasted standard but was a welcome treat. I also don't normally mention this, but their bathroom was immaculately clean and had a lot of cool features like toilet seat cleaning spray, mouthwash next to the sink, and mints to freshen your breath. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. We had plenty of fantastic food, and it was very reasonable priced. ~$150 USD/$200 CAD including tax and tip, and I highly recommend checking the experience out. read more

It always fun eating at Haidilao. It's a different hot pot experience than other hot pot places. It's very engaging and fun to eat at Haidilao. Their service is top notch and the food quality is premium. The broth selection is extensive. I personally love the tomato and pig stomach broth. You can drive both broth by itself as soup. The only down side is they charge for $4 per person for sauce bar which makes no sense since most hot pot places comes with free sauces. read more

An amazing hot pot experience with flavorful soups and fresh ingredients to go with it. They've both vegetarian and non-vegetarian soup options to suit everyone's need. Tomato broth went so with the noodles. The spicy broth is pretty tasty and flavorful but be aware of your spice tolerance. Unfortunately because of Covid the Lo Mein (where they make the hand pulled noodles in front of us) was unavailable Fresh ingredients, plenty of sauces, tasty broths, and excellent service. First night in Vancouver so I had dinner with my family and they took me out to hot pot! My first time trying out @haidilaohotpotca and just have one word: WOW! The food was good of course but the entire experience left me speechless. Technology is so advanced now that there was a robot bringing me my food I mean I only saw it coming once but once was enough to have my jaw dropped...(is this a common thing to see robots?!). The service was incredible; their table is like a magic box: it had everything available within reach! They provide you aprons, hair ties, moist towelettes and even wipes for your glasses! Any time we needed anything, a server would always be nearby and get it for us right away. We ordered the pork bone broth (suuuper full of flavour) and ordered an assortment of meat, seafood and veggies (no pics). Im a seafood newbie (unless it's sushi) so I had too google some of them to know what it is before I gave it a try! (Except shrimp; the eyes were staring at me so I couldn't do it ). I wouldn't say I'm a seafood lover now but I still enjoyed everything and now I know what they are and what they taste like! Although it's not an all-you-can-eat, the quality of food makes up for the costs! Shown here are only SOME of the dishes we ordered; there were many others that I missed cause I was busy eating The only time you would get up is to make your own sauce and even then, there's a vast variety of options for you to choose. There were also fresh fruit and dessert soups! They also gave us free ice cream (came in a prepackaged cup - reminds me of getting ice cream from a convenience store ) If I had to nitpick ONE thing...would be the noodles. We thought we would be able to see a live performance of the fresh pulled noodles but unfortunately due to covid, it's not available. With any Hot Pot place in town, you have to accept the fact that its at least a $60 / head endeavour. I do not think Hot Pot should cost that much (considering how much cheaper you can do the same at home). So setting aside the price for now... Food was good, its the typical hot pot selection. We got the 4 split pot, which was nice cause it gave variety. The sauces were well stocked, and has good variety. Service was A+, servers were very attentive, and lots of 'extras' like napkins, wet napkins, gloves, etc all provided Free parking in the back which is always nice. Sadly the complimentary ice cream at the end was just a chapmans ice cream cup... where's the soft serve?
