Our first order included a half and half waffle, taro boba tea and mango boba tea - both with 30% sweetness though mango boba was sweeter than taro. I didn't think their bubble waffles live up to the hype. I've seen the long lines at the Bellevue Mall and have been curious to try. Fortunately, this location doesn't have as many people. I thought the bubble waffles just tasted like all the other bubble waffles I've ever had. They were okay. I was mostly annoyed by their service. They wouldn't divide the bubble waffle in half. Hmmm.. heard so many good things about happy lemon and was so underwhelmed :-( Maybe I should've ordered from the rock salt series but I got the large classic milk tea with tapioca (which is also their boba milk tea I found out) with half sugar and no ice, but they accidentally input less ice instead. The flavor was just bleh. Hardly any tea flavor and it was just sooo creamy in not a good way. It tasted like creamer and water with a dash of tea, which was super upsetting because I really wanted to like it here! Happy Lemon is one of my favorite boba chains, especially for their jasmine green tea w/ rock salt crema! I was so happy to hear there are multiple locations in Bellevue but this one was a bit of a let-down. I got my normal drink, B1 (jasmine green tea w/ rock salt crema), with the standard settings (regular sweetness). While the crema was up to its regular delicious standard, my jasmine green tea felt watered down. It wasn't sweet at all (as if they had 0% sugar), and I could barely taste the jasmine green tea flavor. I did check the label that the adjustments were right (none) and it was. Ultimately, the drink was okay - just not up to delicious Happy Lemon standards. Overall, my visit here was a bit of a disappointment and I would suggest the Bellevue Square location over this one. I do think it's possible that the one visit I had here was an isolated bad experience where they messed up my order, so perhaps check your drink before you leave (I wish I did)! read more

Update: The owner reached out and acknowledged the issue and gave me a comp waffle to try to ensure me improvement which I thought was great. Props to the cashier she was friendly taking my order I still feel the staff has a ways to go on customer service but I think they are slowly improving. I did like how they placed the order on the counter and not directly into my hands so I could put things away then pick up. Still things I noticed/could improve on: -when the lines are long: do like bellevue square location does and start the waffles before you get rung up! It cuts down wait times -don't judge people for their orders: I ordered a jasmine milk tea with foam since the cashier suggested it which was a great idea but then after I said "yeah! that's a great idea!" And then she mumbled "I don't know if that would taste good but ok..." if you suggest something...don't go back in your idea... (it was good btw lol) -ask for the receipt before they grab the food/drink I'm curious to pop in maybe a month or so from now as the business matures and see more improvements ------------ Old review This location is terrible! Happy Lemon tea are tasty but the service at this store is horrendous. The employees seemed always grumpy and unfriendly. The owner obviously is stingy. 1) The store employees are instructed to give much less toppings than any other bubble tea store I have been to. 2) if you earn 10 points you get a free drink but the free drink does not include topping. The owner is obviously not very smart at retaining customers, for a 50 cent topping he would rather charge than giving it as part of the free drink. It was a very cold winter day and snowing, I ordered an Avocado Mathca Smoothie from Happy Lemon Bellevue (Evergreen Village)1645 140th Ave NE # B8, Bellevue, WA 98005 on 2/3 but every sip had chunks of ice in it and it was very unpleasant experience as I complained to the manager on duty and she refused to offer to re-blend it or make me another one or refund me. This was the second time I had been to this location and I recall the first time, I had the same icy, chunky, unsmooth smoothie (but I did not complain the first time). Not only that, but I was told they were out of to-go paper bag and napkins, too! I recall I order this exact same drink at downtown Bellevue Square store and it was not the same and it was smooth. I always got treated better at the downtown Bellevue Square store as one time, they forgot to give me a salted caramel dipping and when I complained the next time I went there, they comp'ed me another one without charge. read more

I've had a lot of boba tea and to be honest I have high boba tea standards and don't have high expectations for most places. I've been to the Happy Lemon at Bell Square but the boba tea I had here was really good. Maybe it was a good day, maybe I got the sugar/ice combinations just right but the boba tea I had here (regular with lychee jelly) was definitely one of the best I've had. What I liked: It had the right amount of sweetness (50%), the right amount of fullness (fat from the milk) and the lychee jelly was great. There was lots of it and it all tasted good. I also had the 50/50 chocolate/regular egg waffle and that was ok. I thought it was slightly too heavy and soft. The best egg waffle should be light and tasty but I've never had as good a one as I had in Asia. They learned their lesson at Bell Square and they have 3 egg waffle machines here (still with 1 operator), still there was only a small wait for me. I think at busy places they need 4-5 since they make it fresh unlike some places in Asia where they just make it and put it to one side to sell. read more

Good stuff! I went with my dad here, and we ordered a jasmine green tea with regular boba and taro boba for me, and a mango green tea for my dad. I would've ordered the avocado matcha but I found out that it wasn't vegan. :( The shop was moderately crowded when we came, but we didn't have to wait long. Maybe because our drinks were easier and faster to make. The first thing I noticed when I grabbed the drinks was that the barista was super, super, Super generous with the amount of taro boba they put in my drink haha. Legit more than half of the drink was just boba. The regular boba was good, sweetened just right. The taro boba was interesting with a powdery texture, though I'm not sure if it's because that's the texture of taro itself, or if taro powder was used to make the boba. I think I like it? I usually like chewy things, but maybe this will grow on me... Anyhow, the jasmine green tea was really good, very aromatic and present without being too bitter. The mango green tea was good, too, not mind-blowing per se, but definitely something I'd order for myself if I visited again. Would love to try out some of the vegan specialty drinks, too.
