3.5 stars- cute little cafe in Clyde Hill that I met up with a friend on a Saturday morning. Place was busy enough that small lot was full, parked on neighborhood street which was easy enough. Tried the original Queen bee latte which was good but agree with other posters that coffee felt slightly watered down. There were some hot food sandwich options but did not try any of them. Made a yelp account just to spread the word. This was one of the worst coffee experiences I've had. The barista handed me my drink and said, "Thanks, man," which was incredibly disrespectful and completely off. All the coffee shops I go to in Seattle have never misgendered me based on how I look -- it's not hard to be mindful and treat people with basic respect. On top of that, the coffee was absolutely terrible. It tasted burnt & bitter like it had been sitting there all day. Between the misgendering and the undrinkable coffee, I won't be coming back. Cute little cafe in Clyde Hill. As a person who lives for a great cup of coffee, the coffee was pretty underwhelming. I added a dash of cream and immediately saw how light the coffee was- not full bodied in any way- disappointing. The cafe itself is cute- love the honeycombs and bee's. After walking across the 520 to Medina, my friends and I stopped to brunch at Queen Bee Cafe. It's a wonderful tucked-away little cafe with great vibes and a nice selection of foods. FYI, it's a walk up and order then sit yourself down place. I was super curious about their drinks but just decided on the Prosciutto and Arugula Sandwich. I thought the sandwich was super yummy albeit a bit small, but I had a couple of qualms. One, there was chicken in the sandwich.. which I loved, but it was unexpected since it wasn't listed on the menu board. I was a little sad b/c brie was mentioned as an ingredient but I felt like there was barely any. But honestly, the sandwich was so good that it wasn't a big deal! I am writing this to share a disappointing experience I had today. I came in to order a smoothie and was not asked for my name, while other customers were. Several people who ordered after me received their drinks before I did, and no one offered an apology or update. When I went to the counter to ask about my smoothie, I was told, "He'll get to it when we get to it," which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I was unaware of the smoothie or the name of the drink and the person I ordered it from proceeded to go tell another employee about the situation and then laughed about it as if it was a joke. This is my favorite spot in Seattle! It's all the way out in Clyde Hill. They used to have a location in Capitol Hill, but it unfortunately shut down. The cafe is so thoughtfully decorated, with a warm bright interior and tons of honeycomb and bee inspired creations. The crumpets I had were heavenly--they were warm and paired with whipped cream, a drizzle of honey, fresh honeycomb, and even edible flower petals. They offer a wide selection of lattes too to pair something a little bitter with the sweet. If it weren't so far, I'd be there all the time! It does close fairly early in the afternoon, but it seems like a good spot to work (not too busy, lots of others reading or on their laptops, and outlets available). They also have savory crumpets that I would love to try, with one featuring Beecher's and blueberry compote. First time here and NEVER again. The service was quick but the drink was insanely terrible. I got the iced white chocolate mocha asked for it to be made with soy, the guy made it with whole milk. The neighborhood was so lovely, calm & fancy but they chose such terrible music for ambiance. But this location served their crumpet with a tiny tab of pesto and a huge pile of smoked salmon - could have been really good, and I'm always glad to have extra salmon, but it was just bread and salmon - which isn't really what you're paying for... that was fine, not bad, but the coffee was mouth burningly hot ... I mean, these are all very small things compared to the suffering int the world, but if one is comparing coffee shops, then this particular visit made be skeptical about going back.... I have an appreciation for a good drip black, esp in the morning... was tired so thought I'd treat myself instead of making it. Gross. I went home and added a double shot of espresso, milk and sugar. You will be embraced by the warm homey atmosphere as soon as you step in. Limited menu but good quality. Service was fairly quick even though it was packed on a weekend. The coffee here is heavenly. The food is also heavenly, I mean, they have CRUMPETS! We ordered a smoked salmon crumpet along with an E.P. I.C (a hearty croissant sandwich with egg and bacon) and I didn't talk through the entire meal cuz I was chewing every bite. I love their bee-themed interior and the way they are kinda tucked away almost secretly in a nature-y residential area just adds to the charm. We used to frequent the Tully's here and would stop in occasionally before school pick ups for something to drink and something sweet. We were sad when it closed especially because of the friendly staff. The new cafe is cute with its sweet design and what feels like so much more natural light and beautiful greenery outside. What an enjoyable experience nearly every time! The coffee is great, the staff is friendly, the restrooms and nice/clean, and there is ample seating. The prices are a bit steep but I've seen worse. It's a great place to meet someone for a meeting because parking is ample and there is usually somewhere to sit. During the warmer seasons, exterior seating is a great choice, especially if you enjoy watching fancy cars drive by. I'd like to see 1 free drip refill here, and some other establishments that charge for refills on drip--I don't understand why you would charge for refills when a consumer can go to a restaurant, order as good of quality of coffee, and get as many refills as they want? One free drip refill seems reasonable. That said, I do love the concept of this place and the fact that all profits go to charity. If I'm going to spend the money, I would rather here than some faceless corporation. One bit of feedback is there's a weird scenario that's happened here a few times where the place smells like something is burning. I don't know why this occurs but it detracts from the experience. Super cute little cafe kinda out in the middle of residential homes but a nice little parking lot! I met up with friends for some outdoor hangs and got the mocha frappe (yum) and their honey crumpet (divine!). The crumpet was very small (english muffin size) with a little dollop of whip, drizzle of honey and a small piece of honeycomb for $5. Definitely a bit pricey but satisfying! My husband had the lox dish and it was very good. I had the Belgian waffle with berries and it was an above average waffle. I also had a chai latte that was very good. This is definitely more of a 3.5 almost 4, but Queen Bee Cafe was a cute coffee shop with lots of coffee and food options. It's a nice cafe that definitely has good vibes and nice areas to work, chat, and spend time in. But for a coffee shop, their coffee was just really mediocre. The coffee itself was hard to taste in the latte, as it was way overpowered by the syrup. I think it was just too sweet and lacked that authentic coffee taste I look for in my coffees, but that definitely could just be a personal preference. The shop itself is laid out very well, and it a nice little shop to stop by. I will say that parking may be tough though, so be prepared. The workers were very nice though, and it was obvious that the quality of the shop was very well taken care of. Overall good vibes, but probably won't be coming back again just because of the coffee itself. read more

Simply adorable! I loved the theme of the place, with encouraging words, bees, and honeycomb tiles. I seem to also remember seeing a sign that said a portion of their profits are donated. What a nice way to enjoy your coffee and give back too. Food wise, the staple on their menu is crumpets, served in a variety of sweet and savory styles. They are petite-basically the size of half an English muffin with toppings, but the crumpet is fluffy and soft. You get one per order. I had the crumpet with lox and pesto. It was just what I needed! Salty served on a soft, fluffy pillow of baked delight. My friend got the Nutella and strawberry. It looked beautiful! I didn't end up getting a picture of my salmon crumpet because I ate it too quickly (lol). Location wise, I really liked how much street parking there was right outside. The parking lot isn't big, but there is plenty of wide open street up and down from this café. It's just around the corner after the roundabout off 520, so super convenient but also far enough away that it feels secluded and relaxing. I'm a fan. I came in with three other friends on a Sunday morning, and there weren't many customers in the huge, well-lit space. I love how all the decor is so dedicatedly bee-themed, and it's so spacious inside. The staff were incredibly friendly, upbeat, and informative about everything on the menu. Prices are a tad high, but you do get what you pay for. Beecher's cheese and berry crumpet: 4/5. The textures were all very similar--the soft crumpet didn't complement the soft cheese and soft berries super well, but the FLAVORS ARE SO GOOD! Smoked salmon crumpet: 5/5. A generous serving of salmon and pesto. The salmon has super rich flavor and paired well with the creamy pesto. A must try! Avocado toast: 4/5. Not super unique for an avocado toast, but still pretty good! They give plenty of avocado (maybe almost too much considering the amount of bread). The mozzarella cheese was a tad mild for the toast, a stronger cheese might have been better. read more
