We are both a fan of ice cream so we were excited to find this place. The menu is pretty simple which makes ordering simple too. There are several ways to get your soft serve but we decided to get the soft serve with the upside down taiyaki which was so good! You can choose your soft serve with just one flavor but they offer a mix too. You can also choose what filling the taiyaki has. I chose the strawberry and matcha mix soft serve and then I chose a matcha cream filling. You are also able to add toppings after and I went with a Biscoff topping. The soft serve was not overly sweet and the flavors blended super well. The taiyaki was also nice and crisp and the cream filling was perfect. Overall, one of my favorite desserts I have had in a while. The service was also super fast and super friendly. Not only is the soft serve here great, but the taiyaki is also one of the best. With a mochi like texture, there are crispy edges and a chewy interior alongside whatever filling you opt for. Oh and the price is great when compared to other soft serve. Also, all toppings are free (included). You already pay before so don't forget that. It's a spot to check out for your post-dinner or whenever treat! SomiSomi is located in a busy shopping area in the Bel-Red neighborhood. The parking lot gets super busy during weekend nights, given the popular restaurants around. The shop isn't too large, with no seating. However, there is a bar counter where you can stand and enjoy your dessert if you want to dine in. As mentioned, SomiSomi changes their soft serve flavors every week, including the two-flavor combinations. They also feature a seasonal taiyaki flavor. When I visited, the seasonal taiyaki was a mint Oreo, which is what I wanted to order. But I was told that they didn't get this flavor yet even though it was posted on the menu. Guess I'll just have to visit again! So instead, I ordered a cookies & cream and Thai tea combination soft serve with Nutella taiyaki. You can order and pay at the touchscreen at the counter and then when your order is almost ready, the employee asks if you want additional toppings, free of charge, which also includes your choice of a macaron or strawberry. Toppings are unlimited. I chose Oreo and a macaron for mine. My ah-boong was delicious! I love soft serve, so the consistency of this was nice. Of the two flavors, the Thai tea was more abundant, which was good. The taiyaki was good, but not the best taiyaki as it was not as warm and crunchy as others I've had.
