After getting a snickerdoodle from Hudson's Cookies in Atrium Food Court at Fashion Island, Newport Beach, I strolled on over to Happy Lemon (HL) that's right next door. This is my 2nd time visiting HL. First time here though. I forgot what I ordered last time so I had to try something new. I saw Green Tea with Salted Cream and thought it might be a good choice. Somehow green tea was a bit bitter for my taste. Salted cream was nice and smooth. Just wasn't the best combination IMHO. Cute cup though! Young lady staff was nice and cordial. Price was decent. I'll have to try their other specialty drinks to see what's actually good at HL. I haven't found it yet. For now, I'm not quite convinced. Although, my nephew loves their drinks. I'll have to ask him what he likes at HL.

We stopped at Fashion Island on our way back from San Diego. After doing a bit of holiday shopping, we made our way to Happy Lemon. The daughter has not had this in a while, so she was quite excited for that salted cheese drink and Bubble Waffle with Puff Cream. I love the consistency with Happy Lemon. Everything we order tastes wonderfully the same at every location and the staff is always friendly.

A huge disappointment. This is our first visit to a Happy Lemon location, so I'm not sure if this is how the drinks usually taste, but we were quite disappointed. The menu offers a decent range of items, but the recipe needs a lot of work. Our drinks were crazy watered down, and the boba was rock hard. * Strawberry Green Tea: 3/10 - mostly water with a hint of strawberry * Passionfruit Green Tea: 4/10 - the passionfruit seeds made it hard to drink * Boba: 1/10 - barely cooked and very hard The shop is located in the food court of the Fashion Island outlet, so there are a bunch of tables and chairs to sit at. Unfortunately, it means that you'll have to park and walk quite a bit to actually get to the shop. Although we didn't enjoy our drinks, the workers were very nice and friendly. Will not be returning.

I always go for happy lemon and prefer it over boba. Nothing really beats a cold lemon slushy on a hot summer day. I also like how there are different toppings. I got a strawberry lemon slushy and had lychee jelly which is probably my go to. My only issue is that it was a little difficult to find in this giant mall but it was very nice.

Whenever we visit the Fashion Island food court, I usually pick up a boba from here. I forgot what I ordered last time, but I got some kind of milk tea with less sugar, less ice, and boba. I felt like the tea was a too strong and didn't blend well with the milk. Maybe it was the Jasmine Green Milk Tea. However this time, I got the Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream with light ice and light sugar. And I have no complaints whatsoever, my drink was so delicious. It had the perfect sweetness level for me, boba consistency was nice and chewy. The milk tea was very tasty, it all blended together so well. For me, the drink nailed the "sweet but not too sweet" component perfectly. There wasn't a long line when I went up to order around noon. Service was good and pretty quick. Like I said before, I have no complaints and I'll be back again and again. However this time, I got the Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream with light ice and light sugar. Coming from the L.A. area, I have not found my go-to boba spot yet in the O.C., especially in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area. Happy Lemon is a franchise I heard about but only recently tried during a visit to Fashion Island. It is located in the lower level of the Atrium Court. There is an electronic kiosk in addition to a live person taking orders. I ordered the boba milk tea, and it was what I expected boba milk tea should be. After ordering several times, I can say they are consistent, and I appreciate that. Pricewise, it is reasonable at $6-7/cup, and this is less than their competitors. There are plenty of tables and seating in the court, and while it is not quiet, the noise can be ambient.

Cream puff Boba milk tea and black tea with salted cheese

This place is located right next to Barnes & Noble, in the first-floor food court area. The staff there was not as friendly when we came by. One was getting ready to leave, and the two girls were just not pleasant. They don't do punch cards anymore; they've switched to an app-based point-and-reward system. We got the cream puff boba milk tea and the black tea with salted cheese. Both drinks came out quickly, but for the price and mediocre service, we could have gotten them at other places in the mall. We took our drinks while walking around, so the ambiance is casual.

The drink I got (passionfruit mango green tea) was pretty good at half sweetness, but you have to drink it right away or else it starts to settle and the ice dilutes the flavor, especially in this heat. There wasn't that much of a line nor wait, but the food court itself was pretty packed. I wish they had more locations because I'm in love with passionfruit seeds and noticed they have it listed in their toppings options for $1.

There was only one bubble tea shop at the Fashion Island food court, and I normally come here, but most of the time the boba is either rock solid or out of stock. This time I decided to get there new strawberry matcha advertisment for it made it look like the matcha was high quality, but I do not recommend getting it because was definitely not high quality. Details: Matcha Strawberry w/ boba ($7.50) -Matcha not ceremonial grade very pastel green and turns white almost, almost tasted like pure milk -strawberry is too sweet -boba was fine, don't get with it though

    Lemon slushy to AVOID

Service was 9.9/10. Not a 10 because the cashier recommended the lemon drinks "their speciality" and it ruined my day. MOST HORRENDOUS DRINK EVER!! Their shop's name is "Happy Lemon" but their lemon drinks made me sad... I got the lemon slushy but first sip wanted me to spit the entire thing out. Thing was bitter as hell and felt like I was drinking the root of the lemon (no ).

I got the boba bubble waffle. It was so good! It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was so happy to find happy lemon in Newport Beach. The boba drinks were delicious. We waited about 30 mins or so for our waffle. It was definitely worth the wait. We had it with taro puff as well. I would definitely come back here again!

I finally had a chance to eat a very late breakfast on a weekday at their restaurant located at The Bluffs shopping center. The interior is about the smallest of any Aloha Stacks I've been to. While there are minimal tables indoors, there are many under a huge covered patio to the side plus a few more tables under umbrellas in front. It was nearly noon and I had no problem finding an indoor table after ordering at the counter. I ordered a plate of regular French toast with side containers of coconut syrup along with a serving of Portuguese sausage and an iced mocha latte. My food and drink were delivered to my table in a few minutes. By the way, all the staff here are so cheerful and helpful! My French toast was done perfectly - 3 pieces cut in half. Although it's not on the menu (I guess it's a secret item), I always ask for coconut syrup when I order French toast or pancakes. It comes very creamy in the containers but once spread, it semi-liquifies into a syrupy consistency and is DELICIOUS! Be sure to ask for it and give it a try. I am a huge fan of their Portuguese sausage. It balanced the sweetness of my French toast and has excellent flavor with a hint of spiciness. The iced mocha was good with a strong chocolate taste, more so than coffee. I've loved every meal I've had at different Aloha Stacks locations and this one is no exception.

Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, they are open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day for breakfast and lunch. We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. The menu offers plenty of tasty options. It was tough to decide. I ordered the Crab Benny and had my eggs soft-poached, as requested, and they were perfectly runny. The croissant was a nice change from the usual English muffin. The herb-seasoned wedge fries were also great and crispy. The Brown Butter Hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful. My family also enjoyed the tomato bagel and the kids' pancake. They cleaned their plate in no time. The portions were good for the price and quality. Our morning hunger was satisfied. If you are inclined to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, the menu offers some great options like brunch cocktails, mimosas, wine, and more. I'll have to try one of their house cocktails sometime. I opted to get a refreshing cold brew this time. Upon entering the dining area, I was struck by its bright, modern look and local vibes. There is also patio seating, perfect for the SoCal weather. The staff was kind and attentive. It was cool that they refer to customers as "family" when greeting them before taking orders. Our first time was a pleasant and delicious experience. I would consider returning for another meal.

We arrived around 9 a.m. The parking situation was great, with plenty of spaces, and although the restaurant seemed busy, there were open tables and we were seated right away. From there, the service was confusing and inattentive. The first server came to take our drink order. When my sister asked about lattes, she said they had them but couldn't show us where they were on the menu--and didn't make any effort to find out. We asked for a few more minutes, and then she didn't return for quite a while. Even when she came back, no one offered or brought water for the table or the kids. We tried to give her our food order, but she explained that she only handled drinks and that we had to wait for another server. It took a while for the food server to come over, and then the food also took a long time to arrive. The latte was extremely sweet and not enjoyable. To their credit, they were nice about replacing it with brewed coffee and removed the latte from the bill, although we were charged for the brewed coffee. The food itself was mediocre at best. We ordered one children's meal with sausage and another with bacon, but both initially arrived with bacon. The bacon was very tough. They did correct the mistake and bring out the sausage when we asked. The sunny-side-up eggs were barely cooked, and the pancakes were just okay. My sister's meat-lovers omelet was especially disappointing. It wasn't soft or fluffy--it looked more like a thin egg crepe wrapped around pieces of ham, sausage, and bacon. We also had to specifically ask before we finally received water. For the prices--around $25 per person--we expected much better quality and more attentive service. We spend about the same at places like the Original Pancake House and receive much better food and service. The staff were accommodating when we asked them to correct the sausage and replace the latte, which we appreciated. However, the overall quality of the food, the long waits, and the disorganized service made the experience not worth the price. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
