I've enjoyed eating at various Aloha Stacks locations for the past decade as they've opened more and more locations. I finally had a chance to eat a very late breakfast on a weekday at their restaurant located at The Bluffs shopping center. The interior is about the smallest of any Aloha Stacks I've been to. While there are minimal tables indoors, there are many under a huge covered patio to the side plus a few more tables under umbrellas in front. It was nearly noon and I had no problem finding an indoor table after ordering at the counter. I ordered a plate of regular French toast with side containers of coconut syrup along with a serving of Portuguese sausage and an iced mocha latte. My food and drink were delivered to my table in a few minutes. By the way, all the staff here are so cheerful and helpful! My French toast was done perfectly - 3 pieces cut in half. Although it's not on the menu (I guess it's a secret item), I always ask for coconut syrup when I order French toast or pancakes. It comes very creamy in the containers but once spread, it semi-liquifies into a syrupy consistency and is DELICIOUS! Be sure to ask for it and give it a try. I am a huge fan of their Portuguese sausage. It balanced the sweetness of my French toast and has excellent flavor with a hint of spiciness. The iced mocha was good with a strong chocolate taste, more so than coffee. I've loved every meal I've had at different Aloha Stacks locations and this one is no exception. read more

Cheap, terrible, horribly cooked food. You might as well be at a bad Dennys. The food looks like something you get at a camping trip, had to send back an order of eggs benedict twice because the cook doesn't know how to properly cook eggs. The potatoes were old, cold and were clearly warmed up and not freshly cooked...this was a HUGE dissappointment for a $25 meal. Even the coffee was luke warm and the place is messy. They can't keep up, need more staff. Garbage was overflowing, it's not a good place to eat. Luckily for them, they're one of the ONLY places to eat around here in the morning. read more

It was our first time trying this restaurant since moving to California. I spent time in Hawaii when I was younger, so I was excited to have some of my favorite food again. We arrived early, around 7 AM. The ube pancakes were great, and the loco moco gravy was very flavorful. However, the service was not good, especially after spending about $90 for breakfast for two. My order was perfectly cooked, I ordered the French toast which were cooked thoroughly which I usually don't get at other places. The bacon was nice and crispy, and the sausage link was delicious. The ube pancakes are my kids favorite! The loco moco putin was delicious ,fries were crispy but beware it comes with pico de gallo I'm guessing as a garnish but it was a bit overdone, I didn't see it on the ingredients but now that you've been warned either take it and love it or ask for less or none. Our coffees were strong and they give you the choice of getting it in a mug or a cup to go, we got a mug for drinking it there but as we left we asked for a refill in a cup to go which was nice. The smoothie was refreshing and sweet( ordered a mango guava smoothie) the ladies at the front desk were very nice and welcoming, greeting everyone that walked in the door. My family affectionately call this joint BabyStacks. Food is always good all the way around. The waffle and French toast do not need any syrup. Who needs dead calories anyways! Just The Soft shell crab omelette was lightly flavored. It actually is a veggie omelette with a fried soft shell crab on top. It can get very busy in here especially on the weekends but the servers keep churning out the island love. When it comes to ambience big things can come in simple packages. Stopped by Stacks in Newport and ordered the Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict and the Chicken Katsu Curry with a fried egg. The portions were solid and everything looked great coming out, but a few things missed the mark. The Kalua pork was flavorful and tender, but the eggs were overcooked, not the runny poached eggs you expect from a proper Benedict. They also barely used any hollandaise, which made the dish feel dry. The potatoes on the side were soggy and lacked that crisp texture you hope for. On the flip side, the chicken katsu curry was the better of the two dishes. Overall, the meal was just okay. I came in right at opening on a Wednesday morning. Everything on the menu is an available and the service is great. You order first and then the food gets brought to your table. I ordered a plate with kalbi ribs, fried rice, and macaroni salad. I also got a side of kaula pork. Unfortunately the food was way too salty and I think they cooked it in way too much soy sauce making the bites into the ribs unpleasant. The macaroni salad was not great, hard noodles and bland. The pork was a bit better and you got a good serving for a side order. Other than that maybe other items are better, maybe I'll try pancakes next time. Better location than the one in El Monte. Was in Orange County with my boyfriend for a staycation during Labor Day weekend and decided to give this location a try. It was definitely better. The kalbi was delicious, flavorful and tender. The eggs were cooked well, and runny. The loco moco was good. The beef patty itself was a bit overcooked and dry. Still had great flavor and egg was runny as well. Overall, great experience, lots of seating inside and outside. We came about 8:00 am on a Saturday morning and there was a good amount of people already. Good amount of seating inside but plenty of seating outside. I didn't know there was another location literally one exit away and so I was happy that I had another one closer. This place was so good. I had the kalua pork eggs benedict, the Hawaiian Latte, and my friend got the waffle and chicken and something else I forgot. But we loved everything. I love going to Stacks for breakfast or brunch. I usually order their pancakes, but I decided to order their banana and Nutella crepe this time. I thought the presentation was simple and nice. The portion was perfect for me. I also do personally have a sweet tooth, so I thought it tasted really good with the combination of all the toppings and whipped cream. I also took a bite out of the crab fried rice and thought it tasted okay. It wasn't the best fried rice ever, but it does the job well. I do think it's tricky to utilize canned crab in dishes so I thought they did good (I'm assuming they don't use fresh crab). Service is great. The food was delicious and the portions are big. The staff was so nice, they knew a lot of their customers by name. They treat everyone like family.
