This Happy Lemon location shares a building and eating area with Pho Hoa, kind of surprising since I thought Pho Hoa always partnered with Jazen Tea. At any rate, Happy Lemon tends to be pretty consistent between franchises, so I thought it would be safe to get a drink here after eating lunch in the area. Boy was I wrong. My first indication that this would probably be a poor visit was the sign prominently displayed on the front counter that "due to recent activities" they "remake drink/food only if it was a wrong order." So basically they don't stand by the quality of their drinks at all. If they make a drink poorly or you are dissatisfied in any way - too bad! Boba Milk Tea, 50% Sugar, 50% Ice ($6.25) - When I received this drink, I immediately shook it a couple of times before sticking the straw in. I started to sip - and as soon as some of the liquid started traveling up the straw, I knew I had made a mistake. The overwhelming fragrance of plastic and artificial chemical odors wafted up into the straw into my mouth. The taste of the milk tea was not much better - exceptionally heavy with creamer, with the taste of creamer completely overwhelming all other elements. Happy Lemon in general is known for adding a bit too much creamer in their milk teas, but this Happy Lemon is on a completely different level. I could not tell that there was tea in the drink whatsoever. The drink comes with boba. The boba here is as equally disappointing as the milk tea. The pearls are hard, basically splintering apart with a single bite instead of bouncing back. The boba sticks together into large blobs and have an especially grainy interior, making them unpleasant on the tongue. This was a thoroughly unpleasant drink and I could not manage to finish it. Milk Tea Rating: 1/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 My 1/5 ratings are reserved for the worst of the worst, or places that are dishonest or unethical. This Happy Lemon doesn't quite meet that criteria, so unfortunately it gets elevated to a 2/5. But just barely so. I do not recommend getting any drinks here. Bathrooms: One unisex room.

" I just had to share my INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE with Happy Lemon-Olympia! Picture this: I had a major surgery on Friday the 13th (I know, right? Talk about tempting fate!), and I was home, incapacitated, and feeling like a zombie. My son couldn't drive, my husband was at work, and I was STARVING after not eating since Thursday. I mean, losing nearly 10 pounds before my NEXT surgery on the 7th? Not ideal! So, there I was, glasses nowhere to be found, squinting at my phone like a detective on a mission. I pulled up DoorDash, not quite sure what I was looking at, but I spotted some tantalizing drinks with Teas, and lemon juice that made my taste buds dance! I ended up ordering like five drinks (yes, five!) and a side of bubble waffles for me and my little one. Let me tell you, those waffles were a perfect treat, no dippy sauce needed! For my belly. Fast forward to today, with a clearer mind and only one drink left (I told you I was parched!), I decided to check out the full menu (no wonder some of those Boba's tasted a little off , I read them wrong), and I would like to give a HUGE SHOUT-OUT, to Happy Lemon. They really went above and beyond to deliver from Capital Mall all the way to the Lacey Nisqually area, which is no small feat! That's what I call A+ customer service! And they didn't even know the urgency of my thirst! I can't wait to try all the delicious food they have to offer once I'm back on my feet and can drive again. Thank you, Happy Lemon staff and my amazing DoorDash driver, for bringing me a slice of joy during such a chaotic time. Highly recommend them to anyone in need of a little pick-me-up!"

Now open!!!!!! Happy Lemon Olympia at Capital Mall Grand Opening Sep 16, 2022

Happy Lemon in Olympia!!! I couldn't be more excited to see a very much needed bubble tea/cheese foam drink/waffle shop here in Oly. I went on their opening day and the lines were fairly long as expected, but the staff were so kind and efficient in taking and bringing out large orders that there were no more than 5-10min wait for each person. And let me tell you, they had a BOGO event going on that day so most people had double orders. I ordered Mango Milk Tea with added Cheese Foam (my fav combo at Happy Lemon, so if you haven't had it, please give it a try. Its the best one in my opinion), Fresh Squeezed Lemon tea with Tapioca, and Original Waffles. My other go-to location has been the one inside the Bellevue Square, where their waffle is always very thin dry and crunchy, lacking the chewy texture. Waffles here were done perfectly, soft-crunchy outside and edges, and chewy pull-apart bubbles inside. So good. The staff and the kitchen staff were so kind even though they were slammed with orders. I know opening week can be really tough especially in town like Oly where we are always excited for Asian café like this one. During my 20 minutes there (from ordering to also taking a bite in café before taking the rest of it to-go), all customers left in smiles and staff were in great mood despite opening day chaos. It's going to be dangerous since I live so close by!! :-D

$13 for food poisoning, no worth it
    Lisa J.

My review in a sentence: Save your money and go somewhere else for your drinks. Drinks are made with spoiled milk, so my friends all got food poisoning (thank God I threw mine away) and the workers are unprofessional and horrible. The store is full of flies and gnats everywhere. When we were waiting, I watched how the workers just leave the opened containers of milks sitting out in the counter all day instead of staying cold. Then to my horror they poured the spoiling milk right into our drinks....yikes! That is not good food safety practice. I saw this and instantly had a bad feeling about our drinks. I spoke up and asked nicely for a refund and explained that I don't feel comfortable drinking milk that had been sitting out on the counter all day because that is a big safety issue. they made a huge deal out of it and even forced me talk to the Chinese owner on their iPhone...? I talked to the owner in the employee's phone that she shoved in my hand. I work in management myself, so I explained the food safety concern. Instead of apologizing, he yelled at me and refused to give a refund for the $6 drink because he insisted it's normal to leave milk out all day and he doesn't want to do a refund. The manager doesn't take constructive criticism well and doesn't care about the safety of his customers, just about making a $6 profit. He is dirty when it comes to his business. I never got a refund but I just threw out my drink away immediately because I don't take chances with my health for a dumb drink. My friends drank their drinks anyway... and just as I predicted, they ALL ended up having stomach aches and FOOD POISONING within an hour. I would never come back here or support this dirty business. There are plenty of other local businesses to give your money to and have better drinks

Damn this place is good. Drinks are so good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend the waffle. It's not too sweet and has a great crunch.

    Babette C.

The best thing about this place is that they are located in the same space as Pho Hoa and I love Pho Hoa. They also have good fresh desserts and I like the cheese foams. However, the boba drinks are just so so. I haven't had anything there that I'm craving. I'm simple to please when it comes to the boba world, but even something simple like a brown sugar boba milk tea is meh. At least the space is clean and there's tons of seating area between the two restaurants, but I'm don't need to go here. That's no slight on this place. I haven't found any place around here that has a crave worthy boba drink. I guess I just miss Boba Time in LA and Purple Kow in San Francisco. I know it will take time to find a boba drink in Washington State on that level, but I haven't found it yet.

Wow, oh so good. I had the pork chops and fried egg what an amazing combination. My wife had prawns and was so good. Spring rolls to start. Service is always excellent. A place to go back to again and again.

Mango matcha smoothie with tapioca, 50% sugar

You simply cannot beat Happy Lemon for bubble tea & waffles, and I'm ECSTATIC that we now have one in Olympia! I've been to this new location about four times now and can say that it's just as good as any other Happy Lemon I've been to, and I'll absolutely be a consistent customer. If you're not sure what to order: I highly suggest trying the Mango Matcha Smoothie with tapioca. Also, any bubble waffle (I love the 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 original!) with the puff cream is just too good, and will keep you coming back for more. Things to keep in mind: the shop literally just opened, so wait times are naturally a little long, but that's perfectly normal and just something to keep in mind before you arrive. Also, the manager is quick to say to all customers - if you don't like your drink, just tell them! They're an amazing team who will quickly fix your order or make you something new. Cannot recommend this place enough!

I didn't get a chance to go in, but after being incredibly sick for a week we found this place was open on Sunday and it hit the spot just right. Not too sweet, natural flavored mango. Look forward to being better to try the waffles!

I ordered a Large Beef Pho, that costs almost $20 (includes tax), and requested Meatball, Tendon, and Tripe (per the menu that allows you to select up to 3 cuts of meat). Instead, I was only given 2 cuts: steak and brisket, which was not what I asked for. First and last visit from me since the restaurant can't be bothered to provide correct orders. I rate a pho restaurant on how authentically Vietnamese the food is and how the restaurant appears, being a Viet born from Saigon myself. I still ate the pho because I already paid for it, and it was just average at best. The broth was lukewarm, noodles were too al dente for my preference, and the best part of the pho was probably just the steak. When I visited the restaurant, there were several tables filled... but I noticed there was only maybe one Asian customer.. Typically, if you go to a good Asian restaurant, you'll find customers with similar ethnicity dining in, which hints at the quality and authenticity of the food. Their menu also didn't list a special pho or "pho dac biet" compared to other restaurants I've been to, which usually is a combination of listed ingredients, and my go-to so I can taste a bit of everything. Maybe it's their "Combo w/all cuts" but that doesn't tell me what comes with it. The service was nice enough. I was greeted when I arrived and my order was taken correctly, but somehow made incorrectly. I had high hopes for this place, since it's close to the mall and I like the name of the restaurant. But with my order being made incorrectly and the pho tasting average, I'll pass on coming back here again.

Even better, it's only about a 15 minute drive from home for me, so I already know I'll be coming back regularly! The shop was starting to get busy when I first arrived with my kiddo, and by the time we settled down in the back with our orders brought to us, all the tables had filled up. Despite the busyness, the atmosphere still felt relaxed and welcoming, giving off vibes that encourages you to actually sit and enjoy your drink without feeling rushed, if you decide to stay. They even have board games available if you want to hang out a bit longer. The service here is spectacular!! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. You can tell because they take their time with you (no pressure when ordering) and are more than happy to answer questions. I ordered the crème brûlée milk tea, which already comes with boba and crème brûlée foam, but I was curious about the ube foam too. The staff member walked me through all my options and helped me land on a half crème brûlée, half ube foam combo, which ended up being so creamy and delicious. I appreciate them being so patient with me because I can be a little indecisive with what I want lol. My son ordered the Thai tea with boba and tried the ube foam for the first time. He felt like the foam was a bit overpowering for his drink (all you could see was ube foam after he mixed his drink instead of the standard orange Thai tea), but honestly, I loved how generous they were with it for our drinks. If you're an ube fan, you won't be disappointed! We also shared a crème brûlée croiffle, and wowwee, that was a treat that totally hit the spot for my sweet tooth. The sauce was rich, sweet, and creamy, making it the perfect dessert to go along with our drinks. Once again, the staff did not disappoint and I was pleased how attentive they remained throughout our visit. They even promptly cleared our trash and plates without us having to ask, which just reiterates how on top of their customer service they are. First visit was such a great experience! Delicious drinks, amazing service, and a cozy vibe. I am totally returning and I'd absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quality boba place in the area!

They were also actively cleaning tables to make sure customers had a place to sit. The seating was nicer than what you usually see in typical boba shops. The regular chairs had padding with a suede-like material, which made them super comfortable. They also have a bench-style seating area where you can sit back and relax. Overall, the space felt very living room-esque. As for the boba, it was great -- soft, chewy, and cooked well. The milk tea was sweet just the way that I like it, and I did not even have to specify a sweetness level; I just got the standard. The ice level was also perfect -- not too much -- so I actually got a full drink instead of mostly ice. I rated this place five stars mainly because of the staff. They were extremely attentive. I brought in outside food (not sure if that is technically allowed...oops), but they went out of their way to bring me a ladle, utensils, and chopsticks so I could choose what I preferred. I did not feel uncomfortable to ask for anything, and their overall energy made it feel like I could genuinely hang out with them one-on-one. They were watchful, friendly, and easygoing. I also thought it was adorable that they have a big statue of their mascot in the middle of the shop -- it really gives personality to the place and lets you know exactly where you are.

They had samples of their black sesame rice Krispy treat and it was really good, not too sweet and very nostalgic of a classic childhood treat. We just had a meal next door so we didn't need a snack so we'll order that next time. My boyfriend got the ube coffee while I got a summer special drink (can't remember which one) and it was what we were looking for: refreshing and not too sweet. Now the biggest issue that I came across is when I asked for no ice in my drink, the employee gave me an apologetic smile and said she would try her best. As you see in the picture, it isn't completely full. Now I saw a review that complained about a similar issue and the business owner said that you can just let staff know that you want the cup to be filled and they would do their best to accommodate. Not sure if that is just miscommunication or just something the owner said to seem like they are solving the issue but it seems really unprofessional. I understand that it can alter the drink's intended flavor but I ask for no ice all the time and am always happy with how it turns out. You check my photos of drinks from other places and I always ask for no ice as I have sensitive teeth and I don't like the condensation it causes. Other than that issue, it's good to see Lakewood have a nice boba and coffee spot. Additionally, they have two crane machines and board games to enjoy too. They are also dog friendly as long as they are well-behaved and don't cause any messes.

This place had great reviews, so I was excited to try it. Overall, I'd say it reminds me of T4 -- it's just okay. When I walked in, there was no one inside and only one staff member working. It wasn't busy at first, but a line quickly started forming. With just one employee making drinks, it didn't seem ideal for handling multiple customers, so you may end up waiting a bit during busier moments. I ordered the matcha taro cloud with boba -- two flavors I really love together. The milk tea itself was actually pretty good. It wasn't watery and had a nice consistency. However, the employee forgot to add boba to both my drink and the customer after me. I had already walked out and taken a few sips before realizing it was missing, so I had to go back in to get it added. She was apologetic and I appreciate that she promptly fixed it. The boba itself ended up a little underwhelming. I might just be used to the soft, honey boba from Bober Tea, but this one tasted firmer than I prefer. I personally like my boba softer. I do wish the quality of the boba was better and that my order had been accurate from the start. Still, it seems like a nice, simple spot for basic boba -- and it's conveniently located right next to Safeway, so it's easy to grab a drink before or after doing your grocery shopping. I like this place, it's nice and bright and a good place to study/work and get a snack. I think with more business and expansion of the menu, it would skyrocket. I won't lie, when I saw the lassi on the menu, I had hoped for a rich chai too because we don't get that around here. I have to make it on my own now. Also, while it appears they can steam and waffle, a savory waffle and maybe savory steamed buns would be good.
