I am so excited that a closer Happy Lemon opened near my house! I honestly only get 1 thing from there and it's the salted cheese milk tea so I don't know what the other drinks are like but now that it's a lot closer, I can try more drinks out! Wait times are pretty long in terms of getting your drink. I wish they had an online ordering system so that I don't have to wait so long. I waited about 30 minutes for my drink which is why I'm giving it a 4 star. Asides from that, you can sit inside and the vibes are chill but busy. read more

Drinks were good but the wait times are 20+ minutes long on the weekend. It wasn't too crazy busy but the drinks were still made very slow. We actually got our drinks around the 20 minute mark because we followed up since they were calling a bunch order numbers who ordered after us. If we hadn't followed up, it would have been probably 30 minutes lol. At least they have chairs to sit on while you wait and you can people watch through the window lol. read more

The two stars is because I know these kids probably can't do much about technical difficulties or the fact that people love their happy lemon enough that they simply can't keep up with the orders, and they're moving their asses in there for sure. But the fact is, they are Not Good when there's a crowd. Wait times are up to 40 minutes just for two drinks. They inconsistently announce numbers so the finished drinks just sit there accumulating enough that they drop them and have to remake them! If they could just keep someone responsible for announcing orders including those that are waiting, especially if their board is broken, (plus actually let the waiting crowd off customers *know* that the board is broken) I think they'd do a lot better. When they have to remake drinks in a rush they don't seem to be honoring customizations like sweetness, either, or their calibration compared to other happy lemon locations is wayyyyy way sweeter. I think they are a new location, so I assume they'll get better, but for now maybe you're better off going to one of the other established places in this mall that serve boba. read more

I'm honestly so happy that there's finally a Happy Lemon close to where I live now! This location recently opened up, and is conveniently located inside Pacific East Mall (this means I can stop by after doing some grocery shopping at 99 Ranch or picking up pastries at Sheng Kee). This Happy Lemon isn't as spacious as other locations I've been to, but it utilizes length along the shop well (there's a counter along the window for people to sit at, wait for orders, and enjoy drinks). While I know that it's still the first few weeks since opening, it's understandable that I came across the shop being extremely busy. My typical order at HL is the matcha tiramisu with salted cheese, so of course I was going to make this my inaugural order in my hometown's shop. I waited a while before getting my drink, but appreciated the TVs used to mark how long drinks will take and also how long drinks have been sitting around waiting. It's an efficient system for a really busy shop. Workers do their best to attend to customer needs, and although during my first experience they forgot to call out my number and show me the straws, I'll give the staff the grace of it being the grand opening rush still. Other than that, I'm excited to come back and try the strawberry shortcake drink (which I saw advertised on one of the TVs in the shop!). read more

I come here for standard boba milk teas. However, 5 out of my last 5 visits, the boba itself is either on the hard side, or about 20 minutes away from being hard. Unfortunately there are not many other boba places in the area with great chewiness. I have visited another Happy Lemon location in the past and don't remember the bobas were that hard. I don't seek the other drinks much, and growing up with Boba, I appreciate vendors that care about the quality of their boba. Other than that, I've no complaints. This location makes the best bubble waffle. I actually went to the Downtown Berkeley location to get a bubble waffle and was completely let down. It was not cooked evenly and barely had any flavor. So I actually drove to this Richmond location to get it again! The original waffle came out so delicious with a strong vanilla eggy flavor; cooked perfectly. See the pictures of the bubble waffle for yourself! Their drinks are also consistently good. Im a huge fan of their Fresh Taro Milkshake because it has real taro purée. This Happy Lemon is a great addition to the Pacific East Plaza (aka Ranch 99 plaza). They have the best egg waffles around. The texture is crunchy and has the perfect bounce. The reason I am giving this place 3 stars is due to the long wait times. I've been here three or four times already since their grand opening and felt compelled to write this review after I waited 31 minutes for 2 egg waffles and 2 drinks today. The others times I have been to this location, my wait times were 20+ minutes. I am writing this review in hopes that the owners will relook at their operations process and work on reducing wait times. This review is for the Vietnamese coffee. I frequent this and other happy lemon locations. Today I happen to see an advertisement about a Vietnamese coffee. I drink Vietnamese coffee often. So I wanted to try it out. I asked that to try a sample they said no. But told me that it is very good. So I ordered a $7 Vietnamese coffee. It turns out the drink is neither a Vietnamese coffee drink nor anything kind of Vietnamese. It was horrible. Avoid this drink at all cost. I would recommend to this store to really make a Vietnamese coffee before calling it a Vietnamese coffee. I was in a rush otherwise I would have returned it!!! read more

Finally a legit boba store in the Richmond area!! So happy this boba chain opened up in the Pacific East Mall! Now I don't have to drive all the way to Berkeley for good boba or settle for ok boba :) I always enjoy my Salted cream black tea boba or Puff cream milk tea w/boba! Although they still need to work on quality control. I ordered a salted cream cheese tea drink at 25% sweet and it was more like 50-75% sweet. I have been anticipating for the opening of this location because the location in Berkeley is too far away, but I am a bit disappointed, this review is mainly a suggestion so management can improve because I do hope to come back more often. while the staff are exceptional, the drinks as I always get it around 11 am is twice water down due to hot tea being poured into ice, and tea got diluted as ice is melted into cream which leaves a sour after taste. Do you have a way to cool down the tea the day before and keeps it in the fridge ( if not conflicted with health code)? Given the cold weather, I'd still like ice milk tea in the morning . Disappointing first experience for both drinks and service. Ordered strawberry and passion fruit green tea with boba after the customer in front of us took forever to place their order and the cashier barely had enough change for their large bill. Since it was a Monday, it was quiet with two people working and most other drinks before and after ours were ready within 3 minutes. But we had to wait 6+ minutes (helpfully documented on their screen) because - drumroll - the boba wasn't ready. Never ran into this issue in any other boba shops, since they are BOBA shops. After the long wait, the strawberry tea tasted diluted and not strawberry-like at all and both had a very strong jasmine tea flavor. While I love jasmine tea, its flavor overwhelmed the fruity flavors so not sure if it's a recipe issue or not made right. The boba (presumably freshly made given the wait) was also small and not bouncy, more sticky texture. read more

I waited about 25 mins for my drink and they still got it wrong so I had to wait longer. I wouldn't usually mind but it's been like this the last 2 times I've come here. There's 4 people working the counter with a few ppl ordering. Avg wait times for each drink is 20mins plus. Another family also asked for a refund bc it was taking awhile. Great vibes! I like the sitting style and the happylemon signage! I see a lot of reviews saying the wait time was bad, but I went recently which was after the soft opening and the drinks were quick! I did go on a weekday like after school hours soo it wasn't that pack but there were consistently a lot of orders going in and out, as there are a lot of waitresses. I liked my drinks and the waffle :) Though the bathroom door was kind of confusing to open and only has one stall, there is a public bathroom in the mall anyway. They have really poor service and they do not care about their customers at least not the one at the Richmond location. They had orders backing up to over an hour wait. The manager came in but instead of helping he goes and counts his money in the register. Had to yell at him to start helping make the drink. Customers had to tell other customers that there is a wait time. It took them 10 minutes to make one drink. I waited an hour and never got mine. Had to request for a refund.
