Well sorry to say I'm Updating my review. For starters I had a 9am appointment. When I arrived the place wasn't open. Waiting with me was the realtor of the owner. He was not happy. Apparently he told the owner she had to be on time he had a 10am appointment with another client. Finally at 9:30 she arrived. NO apologies no nothing!I was sat in the chair. Then less than 5feet from me she had the meeting with her realtor. Kinda uncomfortable to say the least. 9:45 Finally my manicure pedicure. She nicked me twice, didn't mention the cost went up. Paid and tipped. I was so glad to get out of there! When I got home I realized my left hand was way shorter than my right!!! ABSOLUTELY not going back. read more

We were vacationing in Maui for our anniversary and decided to go and get some care done for our hands and feet. We called in pretty late in the evening and the owner gladly accepted both my husband and myself for services. I have had many good experiences with nail technicians but I have never had the kind of experience that I had with Happy Nail's owner. This woman was beyond friendly and welcoming. She took really good care of us and we talked the whole time as if we were old friends. I wanted to take her home with me so that I could have her weekly to take care of my needs as far as my nails go and conversation wise. She is a lovely woman an on top of that, she did a great job on my nails and feet. Even my husband, who is a complete grouch was pleasantly surprised. read more

Vicky did a great job and is very professional. After moving to a new state on the mainland, I had tried a nail shop in my new town right before we traveled to Maui. But less than 2 weeks later my nails were lifting & peeling. Vicky did the extra work of thoroughly cleaning them up without complaining, and said "they should last longer this time!" It's also nice that her english skills are good and she enjoys having pleasant conversation while she works. read more

Not a great place for waxing services. They use chocolate wax which smells great but application was a nightmare. The people aren't trained and they caused a lot of damage to my skin (see photos attached) with the way they remove the wax strips. Damage seen on multiple areas on both hands read more

The atmosphere is awesome and the employees were super happy and upbeat. I had the best experience with happy nails iv been getting my nails done for years and these were the best nails I have ever gotten. Not only were my nails perfect but the guy that did my nails was super nice and I didn't feel judged on what I wanted at all. Every time I get my nails done the people always make comments like you sure you want that color, or you don't think they are too long.. and the guy just listened and did exactly what I wanted and had no negative comments only positive. Only because zero stars isnt an option. Made an appointment with a friend for a 4:30 appointment. They promptly sat us...she getting a pedi, myself a manicure. They started my friend right away. But let me sit for 30 mins in a station b4 even acknowledging my wait. Then when he (I assume the owner) came over he didnt apologize for the wait, started to process me for gel removal then let me sit for another 15 mins with my fingers soaking in acetone while he painted my friends toes in the pedi station. I finally just got fed up, washed my hands, put $5 on the table and told them that 45 mins is just an incredible amount of time to wait. He got mad and tried yelling at his coworker (I'm assuming his wife) I told him that I wasn't mad and that i just wasn't gonna pay for that kind of service. She then flippantly said 'ok well bye see you later then'. I have lived on this island 8 years and never had such terrible service. I will never go back. read more

I went for a polish change. There was only one man working and he was helping me. He filed my nails crooked and then started painting my nails and didn't polish the entire outer edge on every single finger. I waited for the second coat assuming he would provide coverage of my entire nail on the second coat. He did not. I asked him why he didn't paint my entire nail and he started laughing and saying maybe he shouldn't do it. I kindly asked him to take off the polish. He continued to laugh and be condescending and rude to me as I was visibly frustrated by his pleasure in my bad experience at his salon. I do NOT recommend this establishment to anyone who wants their entire nail painted, if you like half your nail painted def go here!! read more

I went recently for a mani pedi for my brother's wedding. My manicurist was great with the nail prep (i.e. wiping off old polish, clipping nails, trimming cuticles just enough and not overboard like other shops, etc.). She also was very detailed and precise with the polish and the extra flowers. The OCD in me definitely appreciated it when she went to fix any errors in the polish or flowers that did not have clean edges. Price: $36 for mani/pedi (Hey, it's Maui... ) Additional $6 for French Tip. The one thing that bugged was that they said that they would give us the flower application for "free," but they definitely ended up charging us for them. Good thing I was on vacay and not in the mood to argue. Service: Very friendly and laid back. And most importantly, Skillz!: Precise and clean application of polish. I'm not sure if the better service was awarded because I was with my mom who speaks Vietnamese and totally chatted it up with the owner. Nonetheless, the important thing is that the end product was one of the best Mani/Pedi's that I've had even beats some visits to high end spas in hotels. I rate it 3.5 stars overall because of being a bit more than I'm used to paying in Vegas. Am I wrong to dock star points for that? read more

This review is for Joanne, the owner. She moved from her location close to Sansei, to the Nail Spa located in Kukui Mall/across from the Thai restaurant. Although this is not "her" shop, she definitely seems to rule the roost or has her loyal clientele who know where to ask for her. With that type of experience, she definitely has the professionalism and great sense of business to generate repeat business. I don't always reviewing services such as these because each experience is so subjective but she's pretty awesome! - accurate time estimate for services - explained exactly what each process was before she started - upfront about fees, charges but not in an aggressive manor - emphasis on cleanliness of her tools - when her next appt arrived early, she asked her to wait until the actual appt time or if she wouldn't mind grabbing a cup of coffee on her for waiting. That is stellar service right there!! I'm happy to know that although she's not in the same location, her expertise has not changed :) read more

We go here every time we come to Maui and they do a good pedicure. However if you ask them for anything else, forget it!! All I wanted was some cute little pink flowers on my big toes and the lady Victoria did a horrendous job. I'm not really picky but the job she did was definitely not her best work. I'm spoiled by a super great nail salon in HNL, it's expensive but well worth it. Now I'm in maui, i depends on yelp to tell me whats the best...So based on the picture on their website and reviews here, I went for a pedi and mani today and it was below my expectation. The picture of their interior is different from the actual place...very misleading. 1) no ac when they r slow...until when there r more customers, then they turn it on. 2) I appreciate the owner took the time to do my pedi while another technician working on my mani but the pedi wasn't that great. 3) There are flies flying around...disgusting! 4) 90% of the nail salon are owned by Vietnamese and I've been to many of them but this one is probably the most talkative I've ever seen! Kinda irritating...especially u don't know what they talking about. 5) my thumb, my middle finger and pinky look great but then my index and ring fingers are junk cuz u can see its uneven. Went in to get a nail removal for myself and wanted to go there because it was only 10 dollars. It says on their website and on their brochure. I was surprised that it was $15 + tax. Gratuity NEEDS to be left in cash. Didn't ask for a receipt because it seemed harmless (my fault) but when I checked my credit card statement, I got charged $16. I'm sure taxes wasn't to the dollar and it didn't give me an option for tip on the receipt because gratuity needed to be left in CASH. My cousin also got her nails done and the paint job on her nails wasn't the best. Clumpy, thick, and paint off the nail. I support local but I don't like to get charged extra when I wasn't told. Won't be coming back in here. But they seemed nice when I came in. read more

Eh.. like Yelp says, I've have better. I went in here @ 5PM and got a mani only. Total cost was $16+5 (to remove Shellac) = $21 but they charged me $22 "$1 for Tax). I honestly don't ever remember paying Tax for my mani Pedi. Nevermind t hat my mani was super rushed, the paint job was not even pretty. There's bee's on the windows, and to me, the place didn't feel that clean. My nail tech smokes (and his hands also smells like cigarettes). 3 Stars. but maybe 2.5. anyway, good luck.
