Ordered for pick up tonight and the food was pretty meh. I'm really disappointed that I paid a $1.50 upcharge for egg fried rice and legit, all you get is egg, and fried rice. No celery, carrots, peas, etc. that you'd expect in fried rice. I also paid $8 for an appetizer add on, and it came with 2 spring rolls, 4 tiny fried shrimp, and a tiny, 1 oz portion of COLD bbq pork. All in all I paid $40 for something I could have bought better at Panda express for $15.00. Disappointing to say the least. Won't be re-patronizing this establishment. read more

I was skeptical about this place, i didnt think i would like it but was hungry an they had delivery, Back home in pasadena they have Walcanos And there pad thai noodles are bomb!! An i really was craving some I tasted some from some place in hillsboro it was soo horible and finnaly found this menu and saw the noodles The only downfall Is the option of shrimp or chicken Not both, but by far the best noodles ive gotten in oregon, I also got the wanton soup, nothing compared from home it was plain wanton and cabbage, Im use to Smashroom Wanton Chickwn shrimp Little corn Cabbage Crab Carrots And flavor. It's distressing to leave a one star review here. I love Happy Panda, and we ordered over $60 worth of food on Friday for our Anniversary dinner. Today, when I was eating the leftovers, I bit into a spring roll and my tongue and gums were pierced by a staple! A freaking staple! And when I called the restaurant, the girl who answered the phone just said, "huh, weird." No sorry, no "I'll make sure it never happens again!" Just "huh, weird. " and an awkward silence. So I said, please talk to your staff and make sure that doesn't happen again. She said, "okay, have a nice day!" And hung up. The really scary part is that I almost threw that bite of spring roll to my dog, who usually just swallows without chewing... can you imagine the vet bill? I'm really disappointed. read more

My family always loved this place especially when we lived in Hillsboro somewhat nearby. I went here not too long ago with my girl friend and she became instantly sick from her orange chicken. She was throwing up multiple times in the bathroom. I almost had to go in after her. She was in there for probably close to 30 minutes. Every 5 minutes behind me I'd cringe because I'd hear an 'urp-RECH...' Through the door and out to where I was even sitting this was clear enough to hear. But Chines places in general you have to be really careful of. Panda Express (a separate review) I've had near-death level food poisoning twice in my life. From different locations. There's too many examples... you just have to really be careful. What's exceptionally sad, is that the good Chinese places catch shrapnel from these bad ones that practice 0 standards. There's just quite a few that seem to lack in the practices of keeping kitchens clean or their cooking clear from Cross-Contamination. I've always been a fan of Chinese food my entire life but there's been many with these issues in particular. The bad ones generally have this all in common. You really have to be careful out there. There's an older guy with a serious attitude problem too there. I used to pick up food at times and it wasn't any Happy Pandas that greeted me and took my money. Avoid this Panda is my advice. Read this if you want to realize how horrible they can be. We are literally a couple blocks away, and it took an hour and a half just to get our food. When we called after over an hour had past, they had to go to the kitchen, and miraculously, it was ready and they sent it with added almond cookies for our trouble... As though almost cookies makes up for forgetting about your customer. The crab cream cheese wantons taste straight cream cheese. Not sure if there was even any crab in there. The hot and sour soup, tastes like they have been reusing the same pot without washing for months. They only included 1 packet of soy sauce for 25$ worth of food. They didn't inform us they were busy and it might be late. This was my last meal before a very restrictive diet. I was feeling Chinese food, but it was a large regret. The only reason why I give this two stars is because when we called to complain, the manager refunded the price of the order. read more

I have been a long-time customer at happy panda. It is nice for takeout and it is also nice that they have some gluten-free options. The reason I am choosing to post a review now is because I had a poor customer service experience regarding receiving the incorrect item in a to go order. I was told that I would be able to use the credit towards my next purchase. When I called back the credit was missing and they could not find it. The second time that I tried to use the credit they didn't want to let me use the credit and only wanted to replace the item instead. Every time I spoke with a different person I got different answers and it was extremely frustrating. Also, the employees were not very nice about the whole thing and it was their mistake. read more

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Everything was soggy and nothing had flavor. The chicken and pork tasted old. The Mongolian beef tasted like chewy/soggy batter. This is kind of the typical American-Chinese food you find everywhere, but for the price and fact that they deliver, sometimes we just find in too convenient! When the ice storn hit, they were still open, still delivering. We couldn't even believe it! The ingredients are fresh, meat is somewhat gritty and fatty though. They are really fast or right on time, every time. I have to gove them thimbs up for service. I just imagine if they had more authentic choices on the menu, some super good authentic chinese choices, it would be so nice. Seems like they use a lot of the same stuff for a lot of the ingredients though, very simple. We probably won't order out much because we go out a lot, bit for those times in a oinch when you REALLY don't feel like cooking or driving, or the road is covered in 6 inches of ice, we kniw we have Happy Panda. read more

I can honestly say, I do not understand the terrible reviews. I have grown up eating at Happy Panda. No, it is not a fancy place and yes, you can get something a lot more inspired downtown. HOWEVER, over the 20 years I have been eating here, it has always been consistently good. Exactly what I would expect for what I pay AND they have Gluten Free options for nearly all of their dishes - all made with white meat chicken - as noted on the online menu. I recommend this place as long as you are looking for American style Chinese food - the restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, my order has never been done incorrectly and everything comes the same every time! I really appreciate all of those things. If I want a culinary experience; I'll go somewhere else and that's okay! read more

We have ordered dinner here in the past and never really had a problem, but tonight they failed to add a steamed rice side to the order that was supposed to be in the order and we also have someone in our home that has a shellfish allergy so she wasn't able to eat the spring rolls or the bbq pork sides because they were packaged with the shrimp. When we called to make a complaint the manager refused to make it right. He said quote it wasn't his problem if she had had an anaphylactic reaction. So thank god we noticed they were in the bottom of the same container before she ate any of it. We said we'd write reviews and he said go ahead, that it wouldn't affect his business. So we said we'd complain to the BBB if we had to and he said quote "do what you gotta do you fucking bitch" and then hung up. I will NEVER order from them again. read more

And when I paid extra for brown rice (delivery through postmates) I got white rice regardless, not sure who that's on. And a $1.50 for a can or soda is ridiculous. Disappointing. We were excited to see that they offered gluten free options. We wanted to try the General Tso chicken and the Sweet & Sour chicken. We typically order white meat and they said they only offer GF in dark meat. When asked WHY, the answer was "because thats the only thing that can be done with gluten free". News flash: That isn't actually an answer. Just come out and say its because we use the cheaper meat knowing you folks that require GF and will settle for it. So we did, It was as bad as I would imagine and will never order it again. The sauce for the Gneral was not spicy, it was the syrupy kind. The Sweet & Sour sauce I swear tastes like catsup is a significant ingredient. If you like that taste then this will be okay but I thought it would be worth noting. Also, ordered "spicy green beans", and have to tell you it was very watery, green beans had a boiled in water texture & to top it off they were packed with onions. Who does that? Fried rice was fine though. Sorry...really wanted to like this place but will still continue our search for decent Chinese with gluten free options. read more

The lemongrass chicken was spicy and tasted great. The way it affected me an hour later was still very spicy but really uncomfortable and unpleasant. The fried rice was bland. The egg rolls were adequate. A step above panda express is accurate, but sadly its a small step. At least the place was nicer inside then I expected, with tasteful art and attractive table linens. I had some great expectations of this place and was disappointed. There are three things I always get to judge a new restaurant. Fried rice, Mushu pork and cashew or almond chicken. I chose to get all three..... First the rice had no flavor, the Mushu had no flavor as well and came with very few pancakes and like 2 tbs of the plum sauce for a whole container of Mushu...... I did not find the cashew chicken to be note worthy.... but it was edible. I will not be going back. I did not give it one star just based on the speed in which I got the food..... the friendliness of the staff. The restaurant was clean. So I am guessing the food while not horrible is just not to my personal tastes...... I would warn others about how I found the food.... rather tasteless but if that is what floats your boat.... then this is the place for you. read more

We use to love this place but getting the feeling especially in this time of gouging the customer things have changed. I recently ordered Vegetable fried rice as I have many times and it came as rice - no vegetables, no spice (as I asked for it to be spicy), just rice with a few flakes of egg. Usually this would be a mistake and pass it off, but this is the 3rd time I've gotten it this way so I get the feeling someone is telling the cook to "change" the recipe. I did call and the front was very nice. Probably not their fault but after 3 times I need to know if this is their version of vegetable fried rice as I have a bag at home that cost $3 and I paid close to $15 for this. Anyway, in this time of "inflation" where the consumer gets less and pays more it is disappointing.....I have another place I go and will frequent them more as they are cheaper, larger portions, and the vegetables are expansive. Sad....People need to start using their feet I guess to remind businesses that most of the time this is a choice.... read more

I call and to see if they could make it right all I received was a sorry!!!!! I spent $18 fried combo rice and appetizer combo with 4 fried shrimp two spring rolls covered in grease and at the bottom of the box five small pieces of bbq pork that was literally cold????? Wait there's more!! Combo rice I ask for extra green onion and I get none!!! There's like two shrimp in the rice and it's basically chicken fried rice!!!! Happy Panda left me very unhappy. I had Mongolian beef which was mostly chopped cabbage and some beef sitting in a light brown water. My fried rice was white rice with soy sauce on it. The hot and sour soup tasted nasty as well. My wife had the sweet sour prawns which were prefried frozen breaded shrimp sitting in a soup of sweet and sour sauce with more cabbage which made the shrimp soggy. Won't be going back. read more

I almost come here at least 2 or 3 times a week and have good relations with the people who work there. Very friendly. Through the years it has tanked greatly. Seems like when they remodeled and expanded, they chose to put their money into the building and not the food. Have been going to HP since the early 90's. Was always considered to be one of the better choices on the west side of town. I don't know what happened to their food, but it is not even close to the quality I've experienced in the past. Not much in the flavor department and all of the food was a the same color. Szechuan used to be great and now is just disappointing. They seem to be doing well, as they deliver to locations further out and their establishment always seems busy. read more

Pros: Chicken entree was good; Ordering phone system was fast and professional Cons: 1) They failed to include eating utensils in my To Go order which we discovered after starting our picnic. I was forced to drive back for utensils and napkins. By the time I returned to the park, the food was cold. Manager in store was unapologetic when I mentioned the missing utensils, claiming they're upon request only. So triple check your bag before leaving... 2) The fried rice was gross. Besides the cold temperature, the rice just wasn't good. Had a strange flavor that was not appealing. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was good, the rice was not good. 3) Will not be returning to Happy Panda. I've had good, mediocre and bad Chinese food. This was mediocre trending down. read more
