Pros: Chicken entree was good; Ordering phone system was fast and professional Cons: 1) They failed to include eating utensils in my To Go order which we discovered after starting our picnic. I was forced to drive back for utensils and napkins. By the time I returned to the park, the food was cold. Manager in store was unapologetic when I mentioned the missing utensils, claiming they're upon request only. So triple check your bag before leaving... 2) The fried rice was gross. Besides the cold temperature, the rice just wasn't good. Had a strange flavor that was not appealing. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was good, the rice was not good. 3) Will not be returning to Happy Panda. I've had good, mediocre and bad Chinese food. I will never go to the Happy Panda again. Three of my children got food poisoning from there and were violently ill all day the next day. My son had to go to the ER because he was still going through so much pain. And I just heard from my co worker today that one of their friends just ate there last night and also got food poisoning. That's two times in the same month that I know about. Who's to know there maybe more. Because of this experience, my kids don't want Chinese food again. With this happening why is restaurant even operating? Unfortunately I obligated to give one star when it should be no stars. read more

Happy Pandy is a nice and clean place to visit for okay Chinese food. The service is consistent... and you can usually get a table right away... and you can be in and out in less than an hour and not spend a whole lot. A solid choice. read more

Yes... Meh is the word here. Mediocre basically. The spring rolls are nothing but cabbage, and the Pad Thai was just noodles and some chicken with peanuts on top.... and fairly bland at that. It seems like minimal effort is invested into the food to milk the most money out of each dollar. The staff was about the same as well.... Mediocre. Nothing to write home about. While not my favorite Chinese restaurant it is the closest to where I live that is tasty. Better quality food than say Panda Express but not as cheap. I always get the same entree and am never disappointed. The boyfriend usually gets something different each time and has never disliked it. read more

My family loves the food here and we always have it delivered. The wait time is usually 45 min to an hour. I love the wonton soup, and the chicken chow mein. My only complaint is the website for ordering is really shotty, messes up my order often, and a lot of times won't let me into my account. Come on guys, you're in the Portland Metro area. I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I moved to Oregon in 1995, they still have some of the same servers there 20 years later! The food is consistently good the vegetables are so fresh and perfectly cooked. Kung Pao anywhere else pales in comparison. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night craving their food! The lunch specials are an excellent deal, and I think I'm heading there tomorrow now that I'm drooling. I read some of the recent bad review and they all sound like they're coming from one person. If someone claims to live in Vancouver and had food delivered from Happy Panda, something is fishy. I made a delivery order and waited an hour before I called the restaurant to ask them where my order was. The lady on the line didn't apologize for the slow service. Instead (in a as-a-matter-of-fact voice) she said the driver had four orders and said he should have been there by now. I said he wasn't and she didn't say a word. I hung up. I was keeping an eye out the window when 20 minutes after I called the restaurant I saw the driver make a u-turn in the middle of the street and run to my door. The delivery guy handed me my order, I opened it up, and everything was hot and fresh like I might have ordered it 20 minutes earlier. Weird, huh? I just wish the unattractive sounding lady on the phone wouldn't have lied to me. If you mess up, apologize and try to make it right. Otherwise, I'm here on Yelp calling you out. read more

Horrible customer service from the general manager!! He doesn't handle complaints very well and hung up on me... We got a total of two sauces after requesting a ton of extra sauces on order. The order arrived very fast but order was so rushed and missed details of sauces upon request and I tipped driver as well as delivery service charge!! The way the situation was handled so poorly .. Poor driver sent back to bring sauces a half hour later .. Thanks but our dinner is finished !! You could have apologized that would have been decent of the GM. Seriously the worst thing ever. I ordered online through the online website, and the order went through and I waited over an hour and a half... and then I decided to call them to see what was going on with my meal. And supposedly their website was glitchy and allowed my order to go through on my end, but by the time I called them on their end they had just received the order. Are you kidding me? And then the "general manager" hung up on me, so I called him back to make sure he knew I would write a review. I canceled my order, literally it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. He was even very sarcastic and didn't even care that I wouldn't ever go there. They have an extensive gluten free menu and orange chicken wasn't on it. My son asked why and they said they could use the chicken that was gluten free and add the orange sauce to that. Sad Panda . Sweet and sour soup was egg flower with a couple of additions, making it neither sweet nor sour. Kung Pao was not spicy at all. Chinese food? No egg food young = you missed the mark. My husband and I have been eating here for the last 15 years, and we love the food! In our opinion it's some of the best chinese food in the area. However we mostly get takeout, and the last few times we've ordered to go, the front desk staff has been absolutely awful!!! Usually younger, rude and unprofessional. Especially when ordering over the phone. Better customer service training is severely needed up front in this place!! It unfortunately makes us consider finding somewhere else to get our Chinese food in town these days. We don't dine in much, but usually have good and friendly service when we do though. One server who's been there as long as I can remember is great when dining in. The rest of them could take note from him! read more

I've eaten in 2 times at Happy Panda and got take out once. its very convenient location for me. I've come later at night both eat in experiences, while the waiter the first time barely seemed to care and made me hesitant to come back the second time I went back the waiter was very polite and came to check on us often. the food was very hot still and tastes great. I always get the chicken and broccoli, crab rangoon, fried prawns, rice, and hot and sour soup. I've tasted the orange chicken and sweet an sour chicken and its really sauced well too! the take-out was just as good, packaged well, they called to let me know the driver was on his way and my order was done. no complaints from me, can't wait to go back! read more

It was "chicken nuggets" which were basically the fried battered chicken used in orange chicken, just without sauce, rice and broccoli and carrots. However my meal was all vegetables with very little meat, a super greasy egg roll, rice and soup with frozen veggies in it, and rice was dried out (old pot of rice in the back maybe?). It was a slow night and not many other diners, yet had to ask for drinks twice and my husbands hot sauce twice. Our original waiter disappeared and finally we flagged down another and he was more helpful that the first one but by then we were done eating and ready to go. Just a shame to pay $40 for dinner and that's what you get. read more

I went in here expecting very little, but what i got was a nice surprise. I was worried just from the appearance of the place and the menu that it would be horrible, but it was actually quite good. The restaurant looks like it used to be a diner or Mexican restaurant. The menu is hideous, with way too many things to choose from and awful photographs of the food. Eventually i decided on a dish that had beef, chicken, shrimp and broccoli in it (don't remember the name), and my friend got Pad Thai. What this restaurant lacks in style and charm it made up for with the food. My dish was pretty close to perfect...a lot of times when i have ordered dishes with mixed meats at other inexpensive Chinese places at least one of the meats will come out tough, overcooked or gross. Not the case at this place. Even the beef was tender and tasty, which is usually the meat that is the worst at cheap-ish Chinese places, so yay, positive surprise! The chicken seemed like really good cuts. And the shrimp really were to die for! My friend said she loved her dish too. All that being said, the sauce was not awe inspiring or anything, but it was pleasant and flavorful as well. If any complaints could be made it would just be that things could have been a little bit more strongly flavored, but everything was perfectly cooked and you can always add more soy sauce or hot sauce, so no big deal. The food was good but slightly...i don't know...boring. But i still enjoyed it. And the portion was HUGE so i brought leftovers home and fed my significant other too! Go expecting somewhat Americanized Chinese and Pan-Asian food that is cooked very well but may need a little more seasoning for discriminating palettes. Definitely the type of place i would bring the whole family to because you could find food that would be tame enough to be acceptable to little kids or Grandma, but still delicious enough that everyone will be pleased. read more

We ordered delivery from Happy Panda a couple weeks ago. It's a favorite of my omnivore friends who get delivery from here all the time for their at-home movie nights. I looked over the menu before we called to see if there was something I could order. I talked with the person who answered the phone and she went back to the kitchen to double check that there was no fish/oyster sauce in the dish I was ordering off the Vegetarian section of the menu. I ordered the Family Bean Curd which is marked as being a spicy item, but wasn't especially spicy. It was good for my spice tolerance level though and very flavorful. I definitely wouldn't mind ordering delivery from here again when I am out on the West side. read more

Hey I really like this place! The won ton soup is so good! It's not oily, and the cabbage is really fresh. I also got some kind of dish with shrimp in it. My b.f. and i REALLY were excited to try happy panda since people he works with have brought it in every once in awhile. So one night when i had a cold i wanted some spice kung pow chicken to sweat the sickness out and we stopped in for pick up. They were really quick but when we got home they forgot one of our entrees. We called in and they delivered our order to us 45 mins later. I've been there twice. The first time I was pleasantly surprised because their General Tso chicken pieces were huge. Right this isn't authentic but they were yummy and I loved that. I also thought the ambience was pretty good as it didn't feel like a fast-food place. Recently I went back there for lunch, though, and my impression was totally different. We were seated in a separate room maybe because we were a large group. I didn't like the place--somehow everything felt very mechanical--and I didn't like my orange chicken, which came with rice and without any vegetables and pretty much reminded me of Chinese takeout from, say, Panda Express. read more

We visited Happy Panda again last night, and it was even better than the last visit. Again, we were seated right away, absolutely no wait time on a Saturday night. Our waiter was more than happy to help up with the menu (I have a wheat allergy and am a vegetarian), I got the steamed Buddha's feast and my girlfriend got the House Special Deluxe. The orange chicken here is fantastic! Cannot find anything as delicious anywhere. Its all white meat and the sauce is tangy and on point. Always fresh! I am also a fan of the crab cream cheese wontons, and their lunch specials. I cant believe how under rated this restaurant is! I've been eating here for over ten years. I've liked this place for a long time but recently they came under new management who then hiked up the price of all the dishes and made it so you can no longer have your credit card charged online when you choose delivery. I might have been ok with the price hike of some dishes but this is a bit ridiculous, every time I go back another dish that I like has been raised in price by at least a dollar, sometimes two.
