Something has changed. And not for the better. Ordered carry out this past week for the first time in quite a while. Egg drop soup, won ton soup, chicken subgum and cashew chicken. Pros: Won ton soup still pretty good. And actually got a extra won ton. Cashew chicken was very good and the serving size was huge. Chicken subgum was also very good and lots of it. Cons: They have changed the rice. Used to be more of a sticky type. New stuff was very small grains and had the texture of couscous. Not appetizing at all. I made my own and discarded theirs. Egg drop soup...wow...horrible. Very salty. Not the nice yellow color of their previous version. The broth looked like used dish water. The drops of egg looked like they had been run through a blender. A real disappointment since this has been a very good soup in the past. Cannot comment on service or ambiance since they went to carry out when Covid hit and have not gone back to dine in. I think we will still order from here but I will just forget the soup and make my own rice. read more

The food is amazingly good. They don't use MSG which is a big draw for me. They always serve you with a smile. The portions are immense. The price is right. We always have enough food for 2 meals and then some. It's take out only so you can't dine in but what I can see of the place it's very clean. We ordered lemon chicken take out tonight. Haven't ordered food from Yun's in quite a while. It used to be good. Lemon chicken sauce was sweet and sour sauce with a slice of lemon on top. Came with, "fried rice", which was white rice and soy sauce, nothing else. The hot and sour soup was thick, slimy, and tasted of dirty laundry. Have been going to Yuns for years and it has always been hit or miss depending on who was cooking but usually still good. Just had Almond Chicken and it was nasty and pretty much inedible. Seemed like it had been sitting after not being cooked enough. The breading was chewy and gross and the white rice is weird now too. What has happened? I had to throw it all away. Been a customer of Yun's for decades. to this day my wife and I drive 25 minutes to Yun's as this is the only Chinese food she will eat. Had Yun's for the first time since they re-opened and nothing is the same. I called the restaurant and they assured me they were using the same recipes but I know better. Nothing fancy about the decor. But honestly, that is about the only thing bad I can say. I really really really enjoy their selection of food. It is prepared quickly and almost always ready at the time stated. The price is pretty good too considering the portions you get. Wonton soup is amazing, Lemon chicken one of their best products. We ordered chicken fried rice, crab rangoons, and tofu with vegetables. For the taste and amount of food you get (could probably eat for three days with one dish) it's a great value! The tofu and vegetables was chock full of veggies and tofu was very lightly fried which I appreciated. We were pleasantly surprised that crab rangoons actually had a lot of crab in them. Really friendly and quick service. We picked up our food so can't really speak to the ambience. Looking forward to trying more dishes from them! read more

The food is amazing! My favorite orders are the chicken lo mein and chicken and broccoli. I recently moved to the Livonia/Westland area and this is definitely on of the top Chinese food places I've eaten at, EVER! I have been going to Yun's for about seven years now. They have the best shrimp fried rice in metro Detroit! The strimp is always big and plentiful. They have been consistent from the beginning. Take out is great but the food is even better when you eat in! I usually get almond chicken and the chicken is always so perfect crunchy. I love the brown gravy. I also love the crab Rangoon, spring rolls, sesame chicken, pepper steak, shrimp in lobster sauce and egg foo young. read more

They will make Generals chicken without the breading for us and the chicken un garlic sauce is like no others, flavorful brown sauce and lots of veggies. Tucked away in a strip mall in Westland is a hidden gem. If you werent paying attention you will miss it. But do make it a point to stop in and give it a try you wont be disappointed. Everything i have had there has been wonderful. They have great portions and you can get a lunch portion later in the day also. The egg rolls are not the cabbage ones which I'm glad about. I simply called in to ask if they served a specific dish. I couldn't understand the response of the woman who answered the phone, so I tried to explain myself. She began yelling at me, something that sounded like "we don't serve that!" This restuarant lost me when she lost me when she started yelling at me. Growing up in Westland throughout my middle and high school years, Yuns Village was and only a Chinese take out restaurant. Now, it has also become a dine in service too. I am convinced that it is one of thee best Chinese restaurants that seems no one really goes to. Then again, the renovation proves me wrong. Unfortunately, this review will be short because I placed a carry out order rather than dining in. I apologize because it is a habit. I haven't and was unable for the longest time to dine in. Naturally, I would just order a carry out and just walk home with my home. Here is what I can say about the restaurant while I waited about 10 minutes for my food. The remodeled Yuns Village is very welcoming to both rookie and veteran customers of this wonderful Chinese restaurant. They approached it in the right fashionable manner avoiding the cliches of putting tacky posters or wall paper to recreate their Chinese culture. Instead, the painted the room with a light tan cream color that is accentuated by Chinese art that complements the warm color environment. The color "popping" art is not too busy, distracting or distasteful. The stone like tiling that complements the base color of the wall fits perfectly with the over all design. *Note* I try to be descriptive of the place and make it sound worthwhile to visit, but my vocabulary has hit a stint. The food. Of course I will talk about it. The portion sizes are amazing to the point that even a small could feed two people. Thus, when a guest looks at the pricing, he or might think "Hmm, that does seem pricey." It's worth it. I am a big fan of their Chicken Fried Rice. I have been to several dine in Chinese restaurants in the Fort Wayne area and Yuns Village is still my number one pick. I never, and I mean NEVER had a problem with their food. I also have had the pleasure eating their Crab Rangoon. I would say the only place that can match theirs is Panda Express. I know I may sound a bit crazy for mentioning Panda Express, but even so, their food is pretty damn good too. If you're in the Westland, MI area and are wanting some Chinese food, Yuns Village is the place to be. It's at the intersection of Venoy and Cowan embedded in the little "strip mall" where CVS and Mancinos are located. It feels like Westland's best kept secret, but like I said the renovation proves me wrong because they're obviously making money. It's worth checking out. read more

Got the wrong dish last time we were there. Instead of Mongolian beef, they gave us beef with mushrooms and pea pods. I called, they said I could have a credit next order. So I call today, and some old lady tells me "No, you get nothing for free. You get 10% off only". So I told her to stick it. Never going back. You give me the wrong food, then someone tells me I'll get a credit and you have the nerve to tell me only 10% off? Honey, too many Chinese places here for you to do that. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The food was horrible and the server's behavior was absolutely repugnant. I ordered an entree that I absolutely hated. I politely told the server that I was sorry, but I didn't care for the dish. She snapped at me and told me since I'd ordered it, she was charging me for it. She took it away, charged me for that and the food for my kids, AND wrote in her own tip on the bill. I didn't want another food option because honestly after her attitude I just wanted to leave and never come back. I just wanted her to take it off the bill. So I scratched off her tip and wrote in the total of just the food. I took the bill up to the counter and calmly said that I was not leaving a tip because I didn't like the service. She glared at me, ran my card, then proceeded to THROW my card and a pen at me across the counter. I have a witness. I signed my name and threw my receipt back at her and left. The food was awful, service was the worst I've EVER had, and I'll be checking my bank statement to make sure there are no mystery charges. This restaurant has really gone downhill...or my taste has elevated. My family and I used to order once a week and now I'll never go back. The general chicken is always old and soggy, the Szechuan chicken is so saucy and THICK like paste. The egg rolls are thick, chewy, bland, way smaller than they used to be and taste like premade frozen. It wouldve been nice to know in advance that the fried rice was CHICKEN fried rice and the egg roll was CHICKEN egg rolls on account of me not eating meat and it NOT being listed anywhere on the menu. Since i couldnt eat it and it wasnt listed i asked for a veggie roll and was charged for it. If the manager is reading this please update your menu to reflect what we are ACTUALLY consuming.
