To come out for an estimate, it was $150, which would apply to the cost. I didn't notice on the estimate I received, the BTU was lower than what was being replaced by 10k BTU (original heater was 35k BTU). It was my oversight by not confirming with Max that it would be the same BTU. Lessons learned. He did explain that 35k is overkill for the area being heated....roughly 500 sqf and the lower heater BTU of 25k would last longer. The installers were neat and tidy and made sure they cleaned up the area after installation. The cost is definitely on the high side $2,200 (cost of the wall heater was $724 plus a new thermostat). It took about 2 1/2 hours to install. So labor was definitely on the high side. Hindsight, I would've gotten a couple of more estimates.

There were definitely some challenges along the way, especially with permits in our city. Apparently it is much tougher than others when it comes to permits, and it ended up requiring a lot more paperwork and extra effort than he expected. Even with all that, Cyrus stuck to his original quote and never tried to charge us more, which we really appreciated. Jaime and Jesus handled the installation of the air handler, ductwork, and heat pump. They worked hard, were very respectful of our home, kept things clean, and honestly were much quieter doing the work than I expected considering all the cutting and installation involved. I told Sam Urso about it and he said it wasn't a problem and that his team can temporarily store the condenser while we get our front leveled out (3 days of work). So by the time I was ready to get work done on my front porch, my wife called Urso to get in touch with Sam. He was super rude and had no idea what we were talking about. We told him that he ensured us that he could do it (during installation), but with a charge (obviously). But he proceeded to say they don't do that which means he blatantly lied to us. He should have just told us this from the beginning so that we would have rearranged our installation schedule. Another incident was May 2025 (3 years after installation), they called me to say that I have a pending invoice for HERS and permit test. Their technician ran a paid diagnostic but…read morewould not open the unit, told me the refrigerant charge "seemed adequate," and proposed a coil cleaning of $545-$1,195 without ever looking into the system to see if it was dirty, to try to identify the problem. I got a second opinion. When the second company opened the system (originally installed by Advantage Air company), they found roughly two gallons of water inside the sealed refrigerant circuit, refrigerant leaking over the motor, a failed metering valve, an emergency water shut-off that wasn't connected and an unsecured exhaust line -- all documented with photos and video. The coil wasn't dirty; the system was contaminated and improperly sealed. I'd encourage anyone to get a second opinion before authorizing an expensive "cleaning," and to insist the technician show you what they're diagnosing. This system has only ever been worked on by Advantage Air. The system is basically new; it's eight years old. I purchased this home three years ago.

Horrible and dishonest…read more Red Apple used to be a solid and reliable company. Something radically has changed, and not for the better. The business does not answer phone calls. Ever. They also have never responded to an email, though they do email invoices. I'm left baking in my house, with my IT equipment failing from the heat -- because they won't answer the phone or call or email or text back. The owner tried to rebrand and dodge his rep, with a new business name. SecureMyAir. It's the Internet - you can't escape your reputation. It's still the same people doing the same things. Beware. This is incredibly unprofessional. I would advise avoiding these people like the plague -- if you want conditioned air.
