We were having a high level of humidity, so we thought our A/C was the culprit. Theodore and Jose came out, and spent a great deal to diagnose the problem. Turns out, it wasn't the A/C, but it was the insulation in the attic. They checked the refrigerant level and thermostat, and they even crawled in the attic in this heat. Remarkably, they did all this spending over 2 hours without any charge. Although I am thankful that A/C does not need any repair, I feel really bad for Theodore and Jose who had to do the work for free. I love and appreciate their honesty and hard work. I had another HVAC company come to fix my AC unit outside. They said my system was old and needed to replace everything. I thought that that was fishy so I informed them that my unit was only half the age that they claimed. They apologized and gave me a quote to fix instead. I decided to look for someone else. First, they responded faster than any other AC company. Time matters in a heat wave. Unlike most of the other respondents, Theo offered a text chat, and told me the potential causes of my issue and the average cost. Scheduled an appt and today Theo (the owner) showed up for the service. He was right about the text inspection, the capacitor had gone out. He also transparently talked about services they offered without the hard sell. It's never fun to have an out of pocket expense, and sometimes folks offer stuff you don't need. Not Theo. The "no hard sell" sell for me is the difference. He replaced the capacitor, cleaned the AC unit, and did a compressor boost to make sure I'm good to go. I'm so picky. He had a super friendly physical voice but he backed it up. I had a running AC but it was weird and worked but wouldn't turn off except there was only one vent. He checked everything out to determine that I needed an Electrician rather than a HVAC person. He was amazing and I didn't give this kind of rating for anyone as a Business Professor so this is an A-one rating. I was trying to give him something but he wouldn't accept it. I got him to take a cookie tower and will send him a check for his time If you want a truly honest person, contact his company but don't try to take advantage because it's just wrong when someone is nice and truly honest. I asked him to give me a quote and he came to my house. He looked at my old gas heater and said that it had to be replaced and that it was dangerous to continue using it. I understood what he was trying to say, so I asked him if I had to pay for the quote if I didn't replace it there and then, and he said that I didn't have to pay because he hadn't done anything. He explained in detail why the heater needed to be replaced, and said that if anything went wrong after the replacement, he would repair it free of charge for one year. I felt that our interaction was honest, straightforward and easy to understand. He also told me what kind of equipment he would replace it with, and I easily understood the cost. I reached out to America's Pride for a second opinion on a quote from a different company, who quoted $3000 just to get my furnace running again.
